My Wife Turns Out to be an Empress of the Dynasty
Chapter 731 - 731: The War-loving Gu Simu

Once entangled in this situation, it would be difficult to break free. Gu Lan didn't have the time or inclination to care about trivial matters, especially those concerning the Blood Clan; those were none of his concern.

"Naturally, there's no need for you to intervene in my clan's matters," Xue Lengyan said, tossing the blood-red blade toward Gu Lan with a firm, confident motion. She trusted that Gu Lan, with his stature, would not go back on his word. After delivering these words, she left.

As Xue Lengyan departed, Gu Lan stepped out of Linglong Pagoda and watched her retreating figure with an air of helplessness. "I wonder what kind of trouble this woman will bring me later," he muttered to himself.

But there was no time to dwell on such thoughts. He quickly handed the blood-red blade to Zhongren, who, upon feeling the intense murderous aura radiating from it, froze in shock, his face turning grave.

"My Lord, this…" Zhongren began, but before he could finish, Gu Lan raised his hand dismissively.

"Try it out," he said.

Without hesitation, Zhongren stepped forward, channeling his Qimen Dunjia technique. The power surged into his body as he began to work, a faint smile appearing on his face. "Finally, it's done after such a long time."

With the blade's power, maintaining the formation was no longer a problem.

Gu Lan stood by and observed, content to let Zhongren finish his task. The formation was now fully charged, and it was time to test its power. He withdrew his aura and waited. The moment Zhongren completed the formation, Gu Lan turned his attention to the group, who had just returned to the palace. As they arrived, Mu Yuyan walked quickly toward him, her face showing clear signs of urgency.

Zhongren and the others, sensing the moment was not right, discreetly stepped back, giving the two privacy. Mu Yuyan arrived at Gu Lan's side, her face full of concern.

Before Gu Lan could speak, she said, "Go check it out. That girl is fighting with someone from an external clan again!"

Upon hearing this, Gu Lan didn't hesitate for a second. His aura surged, and he instantly transformed into a streak of light, heading off at high speed.

"Stay here and wait for my return," he instructed without turning back. He didn't want another repeat of the previous incident, where things had gone out of hand.

Mu Yuyan sighed helplessly but didn't follow him. She trusted Gu Lan's abilities, and dealing with minor troubles was no challenge for him. However, if things escalated again as they did last time, she didn't want to put him in harm's way.

Gu Lan moved with astounding speed. In an instant, he was thousands of feet away. He could already hear the violent sounds of battle in the distance. His eyes sharpened, and through the haze, he caught sight of Gu Simu's figure.

The girl was thriving in battle, her aura unabated. Gu Lan recognized the person she was fighting: it was a member of the Bright Clan. These people had been hiding for so long, and now they had finally shown themselves!

This caught Gu Lan by surprise, and his pace quickened. He was eager to meet the Bright Clan members and see what they were up to.

Within moments, Gu Lan was only a few hundred feet away from the battle. Gu Simu, sensing his aura, immediately turned, retreating a few steps toward him. She wore a playful smile, clearly unbothered.

"Father, what are you doing here?" Gu Simu asked, a mischievous look in her eyes.

Gu Lan smiled lightly, his tone playful. "You're here fighting again? How could I not come? What if you get hurt?"

His voice was filled with affection, and there was no trace of reprimand in it. Gu Simu, on the other hand, smiled faintly and quickly reassured him, "This guy is no match for me. I can handle it!"

Indeed, her power had increased significantly. The person she was fighting was far below her level, and she could easily defeat him.

As the two exchanged words, the Bright Clan's warrior, who had been watching from afar, could no longer hold his anger. His murderous intent flared as he unleashed his full strength.

"You two are treating me as if I don't exist!" he shouted in a cold voice.

Gu Lan turned to face the man, his eyes indifferent. "Can't you see? I'm giving you a chance."

He was genuinely puzzled. He had offered this guy an easy out earlier, but now he was acting like a fool, choosing to engage instead of retreat. There would be consequences for that arrogance.

The Bright Clan warrior, clearly undeterred, sneered, "Just the two of you? Fine, let's see how long you last!"

Gu Lan sighed, clearly unwilling to continue the conversation. He turned to Gu Simu. "With your strength, this should be easy for you. You should have no problem dealing with him, right?"

Gu Simu nodded confidently. "Of course! I was just playing with him, but since Father has spoken, I'll finish him now."

With those words, Gu Simu's demeanor shifted. She narrowed her eyes and the Hammer of Evergreen Pine materialized in her hands, glowing with terrifying power. She launched herself into the air, her form becoming a blur.

"Take a look at my hammer!" she shouted as she descended.

The Bright Clan warrior, realizing the danger, quickly gathered his power to defend himself. But it was already too late.

With a crack of thunder, the man was sent flying backward, crashing several hundred feet away.

Before he could stabilize himself, Gu Simu was already behind him. Without giving him a chance to react, she struck with another powerful blow. The man was sent flying once again, blood pouring from his mouth as his face turned pale.

He glared at her, his eyes filled with fury. "Damn it! I can't believe I'm being beaten by a girl. If I die today, I'll make sure you pay the price!"

His anger clouded his judgment, and with a roar, he launched himself at her, his body enveloped in a layer of blood-red light. The force he emitted was powerful enough to shake the air around him.

Gu Simu, however, simply sneered. She quickly retracted the Hammer of Evergreen Pine, knowing that this man was already severely injured. She could easily kill him, but there was no need to waste time.

Just as the blood-red aura rushed toward her, Gu Simu performed a simple turn, evading the attack effortlessly. She then launched a series of strikes, each one landing with brutal precision.

The man could barely defend himself, and with each blow, he was sent flying farther and farther. Within moments, he had been struck several miles away, his body shattered and bloodied.

Finally, he fell to the ground, gasping for breath, before dying on the spot.

Gu Simu stepped away from the defeated foe, her expression one of indifference. She turned back toward Gu Lan, collecting herself.

"Father, it's done."

Gu Lan smiled faintly, pleased with her performance. He knew she was capable of handling this situation, but the bigger problem remained: this was just one small piece of a much larger puzzle. More trouble was sure to come.

Without lingering any longer, the two of them began to leave. But before they could even make it a few steps, the atmosphere shifted again.

Dark Clan was making a move.

Gu Lan furrowed his brows as he felt the ominous black aura rising in the distance. His thoughts raced. The last time he had encountered the Dark Master, the energy had been nothing like this. What had changed? Why was there such a powerful force now?

After a brief moment of hesitation, Gu Lan decided to investigate further.
