My Wife Turns Out to be an Empress of the Dynasty
Chapter 718 - 718: Dark Master's Displeasure

As the power entered Gu Simu's body, a long-forgotten smile appeared on her face. This object was indeed extraordinary—it was so powerful, even though she hadn't fully mastered it yet, she could already feel its uniqueness. If she could master it, how powerful would she become?

Seeing that Gu Simu was no longer in danger, Zhongren also sensibly withdrew his Qimen Dunjia. He had expended a lot of energy to maintain the strength in this area. As soon as his aura dispersed, Gu Simu approached him with an excited smile.

"Thank you, Uncle Zhongren!" she said warmly.

"You're welcome, girl. We don't need to be so formal," Zhongren replied with a soft smile. "There's still time. You should absorb this power now!"

With no one else around to disturb them, it was the perfect opportunity for absorption.

Gu Simu nodded lightly. Since it was the best moment, she would not stand on ceremony. She turned and walked aside, releasing her aura, and a beam of golden light shot into the sky.

Within that golden light, all the energy she had absorbed before now surged back into her body.

Gu Lan, who had been quietly observing from the distance, was no longer focused on the pair. The object had been obtained, and his only concern was ensuring that no one else interrupted them.

Meanwhile, back at Dark Clan, Dark Master's expression darkened as he seethed with killing intent. Looking up at the sky, he coldly walked toward an underground chamber beneath his feet. The black aura around the chamber was thick, and there were dozens of strong presences.

Soon, he stopped in front of a group of four or five figures sitting cross-legged. These individuals were formidable, most having reached the Imperial Realm Sixth Tier.

Upon sensing the strength emanating from them, Dark Master smiled a long-awaited smile. If these individuals could recover, dealing with Gu Lan would be a piece of cake.

These were people he had painstakingly awakened, and their recovery had been fraught with risks. If they were to fail, Dark Clan would lose its final strong reinforcements. This was his last trump card, and he could not afford to use it unless absolutely necessary.

Several days passed in the clouds, and Gu Lan's confusion grew. He turned his gaze toward Dark Clan with a trace of suspicion. It had been so long—why hadn't Dark Master taken any action? He didn't have many dealings with Dark Master, but from what he knew of the man, he shouldn't have been able to sit still for so long. Could it be that he had other plans?

His gaze turned back in the direction of Dark Clan just as a figure suddenly appeared, emerging from the very clan he was observing. It was Dark Master, his expression grim and filled with murderous intent.

"I've refrained from causing trouble for you. Why are you still here?" Dark Master said, his voice cold as he approached Gu Lan.

The secrecy of his plans couldn't be exposed, and he didn't want to interact with Gu Lan any more than necessary. All he wanted now was for Gu Lan to leave as quickly as possible.

Gu Lan sneered, "You might not be looking for trouble, but no one has said I can't be here. This is not your Dark Clan's territory!"

This place wasn't even part of the Dark Clan; it was an unclaimed area. Technically speaking, Dark Clan hadn't even occupied it. So, when did it become theirs?

Gu Lan's words left Dark Master speechless. His eyes burned with killing intent, but he dared not make a move. He knew full well that the difference in strength between himself and Gu Lan was vast. Trying to harm Gu Lan was like trying to climb the heavens.

Seeing Dark Master speechless with anger, Gu Lan smirked. He wasn't concerned at all.

"If you have no further business, then please leave. You're just in the way here," Gu Lan said coldly.

Dark Master's rage flared up. "I suggest you don't push your luck. Otherwise, you'll pay the price!" he spat.

Gu Lan merely snorted in disdain. "You want me to pay the price? I'm curious to see how you'll make me. Don't disappoint me!"

Dark Master was truly helpless in the face of Gu Lan. He was no match for Gu Lan at all, let alone capturing him.

Gu Lan watched as Dark Master seethed in frustration. He thoroughly enjoyed this scene. Dark Master was clearly enraged but couldn't do a thing about it.

Suddenly, a voice broke through the tense atmosphere. It was Ding True Man's voice, urgently reaching Gu Lan's ear.

"Master, quickly return! Lanyan Royal School is in danger!"

Gu Lan was momentarily stunned. His expression darkened immediately. The urgency in Ding True Man's voice suggested that something serious had happened that couldn't be handled on their own.

Without another word, Gu Lan's energy surged, and he shot toward Lanyan Royal School at lightning speed. Dark Master frowned, thinking that Gu Lan was about to attack, but before he could react, Gu Lan had already turned and vanished.

"Next time, I'll play with you slowly," Gu Lan's voice floated back to Dark Master.

This left Dark Master in confusion. He thought Gu Lan had been reluctant to leave, so why had he suddenly decided to go? Was it because of Lanyan Royal School?

Dark Master's skepticism quickly turned into a mocking smile. If that was the case, then he might as well follow and see what happened. With enough luck, he might even be able to take care of a few problems.

Gu Lan's speed was extraordinary. In a flash, he left behind nothing but a blur, and within mere moments, he had reached the skies above Lanyan Royal School.

Looking down, his expression darkened, and his eyes filled with murderous intent. He gathered his energy around his Hongmeng Sword and struck downward.

A tearing sound rang out, and the space around him shattered. The blood-red sword light shot down from the clouds, roaring with thunder.

The previously arrogant Blood Clan members, who had been wreaking havoc, quickly turned pale as they saw the incoming sword light. Without a word, they activated their own auras and leaped away, putting a considerable distance between them and the sword.

But for some of the weaker Blood Clan members, there was no time to escape. They didn't even have the strength to resist. Before they could even react, they were consumed by the sword light, not even a scream escaping their lips.

Gu Lan didn't use all of his strength in that attack, but the power he wielded was still terrifying. His cold eyes fixed on the Blood Clan leaders below.

A figure stood among them, his expression grim and filled with killing intent. Seeing his anger, Gu Lan smirked and taunted him.

"You seem unwilling. How about a fight? Defeat me, and I'll spare your life!"

The sarcasm in his voice stung, and it was enough to provoke the Blood Clan leader. Despite the boiling rage within, he didn't dare to challenge Gu Lan.

This man had already lost badly to Gu Lan before. Trying again would only lead to his death.

The Blood Clan leader's eyes narrowed as his killing intent soared. Blood energy enveloped his body as he glared at Gu Lan, his gaze fixed with determination.

"You want to fight, do you? Then come and try!"

As soon as the words left his mouth, six strong figures appeared behind him, all at the Imperial Realm Fifth Tier.

"Kill him, and I'll promote you all to elders of the clan!" the Blood Clan leader promised.

"Thank you, Young Lord!" the six responded, bowing, before their eyes locked on Gu Lan.
