My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World
Chapter 375: Gravity Awakening

Chapter 375: Gravity Awakening

As I dived inside The Pit to look for Baelzor, who had crashed against the pillars after getting hit by my bo, Yoru and Vespera were facing the dark wyvern and Drakzen, respectively.

When Baelzor stood up from the ground, I could see his horns had come out from the force of my attack. He had to release some of his demonic powers to resist the blow, but he still wasn’t in his final form.

The devil turned his head and gazed at me with clear rage in his eyes, making me point my bo at him and shoot a lightning bolt that split into a dozen streaks, destroying everything around him.

I noticed that Baelzor was able to move away from my spell with a quick sidestep, so I propelled myself and landed right next to him, kicking him in the face and forcefully making him crash against the wall.

"What’s wrong? I thought you were powerful..." I muttered with a condescending tone, taunting the devil into releasing more of his demonic energy.

There was a reason for why I wanted him to release his full power.

If I kept attacking him and wasting MP on his weaker form, then by the time he transformed, my MP would be depleted quite a lot.

Of course, I could always drink an MP potion, but it wasn’t that easy to get something from my void pocket in the middle of an intense battle.

Still, if Baelzor released his full powers, then I would do the same and finish him quickly.

Nevertheless, right after the devil turned into a more devilish figure, Vespera and Drakzen crashed beside me as they were both exchanging blows against each other.

My companion was bleeding a little bit from her head, and Drakzen had a few bruises on his face while his horns were showing.

"You’ve gotten stronger..." Drakzen muttered with a smirk, but Vespera didn’t allow him to keep talking as she launched herself at the devil, going for a kick in the face that he barely dodged with a backstep.

I lost my focus for a brief moment, and when I turned back to look at Baelzor, I saw he was casting a spell with powerful black lightning accumulating on his palms. Still, there was something that was bothering me more.

’Vespera said there were two Accursed Beasts... Where is the second one?’ I pondered.

Yoru and the dark wyvern were fighting outside The Pit, and I could sense both of their presence, but I couldn’t detect a third one.

When I tried focusing my energy even harder on my "search" spell, I had to cut it short to protect myself from the barrage of black lightning bolts that shot out of Baelzor’s hands.

I thought a barrier would be enough to protect me, but I underestimated the power of black lightning, as I could still feel a little pain when it struck my shield—no major damage, though.

Right after the black lightning struck, Baelzor appeared right in front of me, holding a massive double-edged sword with spikes on it and going for an overhead attack.

I raised my bo horizontally, and as soon as the sword hit, the magic wood activated its effect and deflected his blade back, leaving him open.

"What!?" Baelzor exclaimed, surprised at the forceful push that came from my bo.

Without giving the devil any time to recuperate his stance, I began unleashing a barrage of attacks as my bo was coated with gravity magic, making all of my strikes feel ten times heavier.

When I hit him in the face, I managed to break one of his horns while sending him flying against the wall once again—and I was going to keep my onslaught, but I got distracted when I saw Drakzen had severed two of Vespera’s spider legs using a dagger.

My companion tried to protect herself from Drakzen’s attack, but the blade somehow managed to cut through her defenses.

It was the first time that I had seen Vespera getting pressed like that, gritting her teeth as her legs bled uncontrollably.

That moment I saw my companion’s blood gushing out, it was like time started to move slower for me, making it feel like a few minutes were passing when, in reality, not even five seconds had passed.

I could see a lot of demonic energy coming from Drakzen’s dagger, but my mind wasn’t thinking about the dangers of approaching him. Instead, it was blank.

As my emotions took over, my phoenix awakening started to activate. However, I knew I needed a new transformation to defeat Drakzen.

Ever since I awakened the first time, I had only managed to use two different transformations, and both of those times were thanks to my companions.

The moon awakening was only possible thanks to Yoru’s moon buff, and the phoenix awakening was thanks to Acalan’s blessing.

Asys, the God of Magic, told me that the awakened state could be reached with any type of magic. However, I still hadn’t developed my own type of awakening.

In that brief window of time that lasted a few seconds, I converted all of the phoenix fire magic that coursed through my body into gravity magic, making my body feel incredibly light.

Suddenly, my MP went out of control, producing a blinding flash of light while black and purple strands of energy enveloped my body.

"Hmm?" Drakzen hummed, gazing away from Vespera towards me.

Still, as soon as his face turned, I was already right in front of him, smashing his face with my bo, which felt like it weighed hundreds of kilograms to anyone but me.

"What the hell do you think you are doing to my friend!?" I muttered, my voice sounding raspy and angry.

Drakzen stood up from the ground with his annoying smirk and licked the blood that reached his lips from his forehead.

"Ichiro-... Ugh-" said Vespera, but her sentence was cut short as more blood gushed out from her severed spider legs.

"Hah, you might want to take a look at that..." Drakzen commented.

"This dagger isn’t called ’hemorrhage’ for nothing," he continued.
