My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World
Chapter 214: Trash-Talking a Prince

Chapter 214: Trash-Talking a Prince

Melina and her brother kept catching up as we walked towards the group that had been waiting for us.

As soon as we got there, the students began asking me to look at their spells to make sure that they were casting them correctly, and after minutes of tutoring my ten students, we were interrupted by a loud voice approaching us.

"Ah, Darius, here you are!" the man exclaimed.

Before I turned to look at the man, I noticed Yuki froze for a moment and widened her eyes with fear, giving me an idea of who was behind me.

Turning around, I spotted a man around the same age as Melina’s brother, with black hair and dark eyes holding Darius’ shoulder.

It was strange. His body seemed to have a friendly aura around it, but his smile looked so fake that it gave me the creeps.

"What the hell, Darius? You could have told me that your sister was incredibly gorgeous!" he said, putting one knee on the ground and holding Melina’s hand to kiss the back.

"I’m the Crown Prince, Takeo Kyotora. It’s a pleasure to meet you, m’lady..." he continued.’

Melina cringed and shook with goosebumps of evident disgust without saying anything back.

Just as his lips were about to touch her hand, I appeared next to them and held Takeo’s arm forcefully, making him let go of his clasp with Melina.

*ahem* I scoffed, tightening my grip to intimidate the prince a little bit with my strength.

"And who might this peasant be!?" he exclaimed, standing back up and pulling his arm away from my grip.

"Nice to meet you, buddy. I’m Professor Ichiro, and I’m one of the sages that will be the judge for the tournament..." I said coldly, dropping some of my titles in there to shut him up.

"Heh, and you expect me to believe that!? How desperate can you be for my attention!?" he asked with a loud and arrogant tone.

Takeo glared at my students and spotted his sister, slowly approaching her with a mocking chuckle.

"Seriously, you expect me to believe this trash will be competing!? Might as well just give me the trophy already!" he continued, letting out a laugh.

Yuki looked down with apprehension, unable to refute his brother’s insults, so I had to step in.

’Pissing off stupid nobles could become one of my hobbies, to be honest...’ I thought.

"Aw man, are you really trash-talking my students when you have such a low level of magic? That’s quite pathetic for a prince..." I said with a cold tone, staring daggers at the black-haired man.

*pfft* Melina scoffed on the side, trying to hold back her laughter.

"W-what did you just call me!?" he shouted with an angry vein popping on his temple.

’It’s so easy... These nobles lose their marbles for anything...’ I thought with a smile.

"I said: trash-talking with your low level of magic is pathetic, especially for a prince. Are you deaf, too? Or do you just not understand my words with that little brain?" I continued, not moving my gaze away from his.

At that moment, some of my students began holding back their laughter along with Melina. Yuki, on the other hand, looked more shocked than happy about my words.

Seeing the prince getting flustered and embarrassed wasn’t something they were expecting to see during their time in Kyotora, but I wasn’t going to let anyone mess with my students, no matter their position or title.

"Insulting the Crown Prince is a great crime in this country. I suppose you want to be incarcerated for the rest of your miserable life!" he angrily shouted for everyone to hear.

However, his threats were utterly empty to me, so I yawned on purpose to make it seem like he was boring the hell out of me and made him even angrier.

"Listen, man. Even if you sent your entire army for me, you would never be able to catch me..." I said calmly.

"Still, I’m sure you know the consequences for messing with a representative from an allied country. You do, right...?" I continued, making the prince widen his eyes in surprise.

"If you want to mess with the relationship between Sephyr and Kyotora, be my guest. Ah, but you will also be sabotaging the tournament..."

As I finished talking, I locked eyes with the prince again, giving him a cold stare that lasted for a few seconds before he decided to leave the area.

I sighed with tiredness and scratched the back of my head before turning to look at my students, who were still somewhat shocked about our exchange.

"Sorry, everyone. I think I let myself get carried away there..." I said, but my students started applauding.

"Professor, we knew you were cool. But that was next level!" said Larry, one of our third-year students who was competing.

Eve, the elven princess, nodded fervently. "He shut the prince up after he tried bullying Yuki. It felt oddly satisfying..." she commented with a smile.

Suddenly, the praise of my students was interrupted by a man’s laugh, and when I turned, it was Darius who was chuckling with tears of joy in his eyes.

"Oh, man. They told me you were interesting, and they were right!" he said, slowly approaching me.

"I’ve decided. You are definitely worthy of being my brother-in-law!" he exclaimed, making everyone present blush a little.

"Brother, shut up! What the hell are you saying!?" Melina yelled, giving her brother a soft bump on the head as a reprimand.

Darius rubbed his head with tears of pain in his eyes but kept chuckling at his own remarks while Melina told him to watch his mouth in public with little puffs of smoke coming out her ears.

Still, seeing their interaction made me share Darius’ laughter and also made me somewhat relieved.

At first, seeing Darius and Takeo getting along made me believe that the Sephyr Prince could be just as arrogant, but I was wrong, and I was glad about it.

In the end, I thought Darius was just as charismatic and carefree as his father, while Melina resembled her mother’s attitude, which was loving and caring until they got serious and became scary.
