As I was talking to the group of ex-bandits who were now following my commands, I told them about my plan.

Nisa and Tony, the first pair of bandits that I met, would be sent to the frontlines and try their best to dwindle the number of enemies in their camp.

By having them infiltrate at night, they would be able to take out a few of their troops, and if they found any beastkin who was cursed, use the holy panaceas on them.

Vespera told me that lesser demons didn’t sleep, and if there truly were some of them in Kalusia’s army, then infiltrating their camp would be much more complicated than expected.

The second pair that stepped up were two young guys. One of them was named "Rio" and the other "Lampart."

They thanked me for releasing their curse and said that they had been doing work in the shadows for a long time, even going as far as to infiltrate other nations.

When I asked them if they would be able to infiltrate Kalusia, they both nodded confidently, which made me believe that they trusted their skills.

However, I told them to wait until after the empress left since I would be leaving the same day, and there were still some preparations I needed to take care of.

Using the alchemy room underground where they had been keeping Jen captive, I grabbed the blue herbs that she had been tasked to use for a poison.

The herb said that it had a "hidden property," which was the effect that Jen was trying to research instead of making the poison, so I used my delivery tablet to send some of it to Reinar.

The reason why I wanted Reinar to investigate the herb was that there was a chance for the "hidden property" to be of use to us, even though I knew he was probably busy with the large request I had sent the day before.

After I sent the herbs, I went back to the large room underground that the ex-bandits used as a meeting room for all of the members.

The fifty people who stood before me were ex-members of the Crimson Scorpions who were threatened to join and commit crimes, so I decided to give the group a new name to make their reborn official.

"Hmmm, let me think of a cool name..." I said out loud.

However, my thoughts were interrupted by Nisa, who spoke up, explaining that her father used to be part of another secret organization called the "Dawn’s Defenders" but were wiped out by monsters years ago.

The Dawn’s Defenders worked under the previous empress and were tasked with protecting people, maintaining peace, and driving away monsters that got near their towns or settlements.

When Nisa was a child, it was her dream to join her father, but she never got the opportunity as their lives were cut short.

I gave my condolences to Nisa, but she expressed that it had been a long time ago, and we now had the opportunity to bring them back.

So, I ended up renaming the ex-group of bandits to "The Dawn’s Defenders" and left the name "Crimson Scorpions" behind.

We still had a few days before we left the capital, so I asked the Defenders to take care of the potions that were arriving from End Town using my delivery tablet and carry the crates with the vials to the people transporting goods to the frontlines.

I also told them to go to the poor districts that the Crimson Scorpions had destroyed and to help people by giving them food, clothes, and potions if they needed them. I wanted to rebuild their homes, but I had no time to fix them.

If it had been only one district that I needed to repair, I could have done it, but there were hundreds of houses in neighborhoods that were quite apart from each other.

Even if I asked Vespera for help, I didn’t think we would have finished them all on time before we had to leave the city.

’If I repair one house, I’ll have to fix everyone else’s...’ I thought.

In my mind, I apologized to the people, promising to help them rebuild their homes once I was able to bring Melina with me since I knew that with her, we would be able to fix all the districts in one or two days.

After I had given the Defenders their tasks, I visited the library at the capital, remembering that Asys, the God of Magic, had told me that there could be something there that interested me.

Yoru was hiding in my shadow, so I went inside with Vespera and Gina to check the place out, and to our surprise, the library was absolutely immense.

There were six different floors, each of them with tall bookcases containing hundreds of books of every genre.

Gina found a small section that had books with information and the history of Kalusia, so she started browsing that section with a bit of enthusiasm, which was quite rare for her to act that way.

The battle-maid was always very serious, ever since I met her at the Sephyr’s castle. Nonetheless, I could tell that her expressions were caused by the grief and the burdens she carried, so seeing her happy over some books was pretty refreshing.

When I looked up into one of the middle floors, I felt a weird sensation coming from a bookcase, so I went upstairs to see what it was.

It felt almost the same as when I found Kyoko’s notebook at the bookstore in Sephyr’s Kingdom, so I thought that it was probably the book that Asys wanted me to see.

At the very top of the cabinet’s corner, I saw the dusty book, producing a strange but benevolent energy that attracted me to it.

Using my gravity enchantment to levitate gently and reach the top of the bookcase, I grabbed the tome and sat on a nearby table to give it a quick peek.

The book had been written by a man named "Giuseppe," and it was all in English, although I could tell that the person who wrote it wasn’t very fluent in it.

Giuseppe was an Italian man from my past world, who, just like Kyoko and me, was reincarnated into this world by Phelena.

Well, that was the conclusion that I came up with since Kyoko’s notebook never mentioned anything about the gods. Instead, it focused on the magic she developed and the devils she hunted.

However, Giuseppe’s notebook was very different, as he did mention the gods and the devils and even talked about Kyoko.

From what I could read from the book, which had quite a lot of grammatical errors, Giuseppe was the reincarnation that came to this world after Kyoko, and the man spent a long time researching what the Japanese woman had done during her time here.

Kyoko’s notebook never mentioned where she appeared or where she lived, but Giuseppe had it all written down, explaining that the woman was responsible for the growth and prosperity of the nation of Kyotora.

’I’ve heard that name before... Wasn’t one of Melina’s roommates from there?’ I pondered, trying to recall her message from the voice crystal.

Giuseppe, on the other hand, appeared on an island continent to the south that was filled with crime.

When he first arrived, the continent was called "Exile’s Reach" since all the people who lived there were driven away from their countries or simply ran there to hide from their crimes.

However, he used his powers to seize control of the continent, took care of the criminals, and turned it into an amazing country called "Vista," which was its current name.

"Wow, this guy was awesome..." I muttered as I kept my eyes glued to Giuseppe’s notebook.

"It is pretty interesting. I remember hearing about something like that happening a long time ago..." said Vespera, who had been standing right behind me the whole time reading along.

"What the-..!" I exclaimed, a bit startled since I didn’t expect her to be right on my neck.

"Vesp, you can read this?" I asked as the book was written with quite a broken English.

Vespera nodded. "It’s thanks to you that I can read these weird symbols," she replied casually.

The surprise of my companion reading English made me forget for a moment that they could "absorb" knowledge from me, which was why Vespera had gotten so much better at fighting. Still, I didn’t think it would translate to other languages, too.

We kept reading for a long time since we couldn’t take the book with us from the library. I did think about stealing it, but I figured if I read the entire thing, there was no need for me to rob the place.

When we got to the final pages, we found a very crucial piece of information that could help us in our current situation.
