Chapter 52: Alternative Study Session
Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Alternative Study Session
"What ideas does everyone have? Let’s discuss them together!"
The floor was silent for a while, as if no one wanted to be the first to start. Seeing this, Kikuchi Takamiya sighed slightly, thinking to himself that it was a good thing he had found a few people to help.
This type of class meeting, where opinions are sought, is the hardest to conduct. If no one takes the lead to warm up the atmosphere, everyone will just remain silent.
Kikuchi Takamiya is an experienced class president and understands people’s minds well. So before the class meeting, he specifically asked Shirakawa Sawahei and others to speak up.
A curly-haired girl raised her hand and said, "President~ why not follow tradition and just set up a shop?"
"Didn’t we do that last year? If we do it again this year, it’ll be boring."
"But setting up a shop is also the most common choice... Maybe we can start with the items we sell and create something new."
"Eh, not bad, good idea."
The students below started discussing in this direction. Kikuchi Takamiya nodded and wrote down the option of setting up a shop on the blackboard.
"How about choosing a haunted house? There are still leftover paints from last year’s sports festival; we can use them this time."
"A haunted house sounds fun. But the idea is a bit old... We can only focus on improving the haunted house itself."
Kikuchi Takamiya wrote down the haunted house option.
"Any other ideas, everyone?"
"Hey hey!" Ise Yu Yuzhijin raised her hand.
"Why don’t we do a music festival this year? Everyone can bring their instruments to school, and we can all play together!"
"It sounds interesting, President, let’s pick this one."
"But there are still people who aren’t good at playing instruments, right?" a student objected.
"No problem, I’m not good at it either, as long as everyone has fun. Listening to music is also a great choice."
Shirakawa Sawahei: →_→
When others say this, it might be modesty, but when Ise Yu Yuzhijin says it... she really isn’t good at it.
"Coincidentally, I’m participating in the school performance, so I can bring my guitar over~" a girl agreed.
Kikuchi Takamiya wrote down the music festival option and then turned his gaze to Shirakawa Sawahei.
Shirakawa Sawahei was a bit embarrassed by the stare. Having never experienced a cultural festival, he genuinely didn’t know what to do. He could only muster up the courage and say, "Why not hold a study session for the whole class this time?"
The atmosphere was awkward for a full five seconds...
"No way... Studying is already tiring enough, right? Someone stop Shirakawa!"
"Shirakawa, are you a devil?" Ise Yu Yuzhijin was shocked.
"This is too cruel... Sorry, Shirakawa, but I can’t vote for you on this one."
The little Asano Nazuki’s eyes lit up.
Opportunity strikes!
She raised her hand, smiled sweetly, and agreed, "Shirakawa’s idea isn’t bad, it just so happens I’m a bit behind on my homework lately..."
Shirakawa Sawahei turned his head and looked at her oddly, while the little one didn’t dodge, displaying two cute dimples as she smiled warmly at Shirakawa, as if cheering him on.
Hmph, with so many opposing you, I’m the only one on your side. Surely, you’ll have a better impression of me now, right?
But unexpectedly, after hearing Little Angel Asano Nazuki’s words, the classmates, especially the boys, started wavering instantly.
"Makes sense, since Lord Angel said so, let’s vote for this..."
"Just for Asano’s cute face and smile, I’d study endlessly without regret."
"Okay! Let’s choose this one!"
Asano Nazuki was dumbfounded. Her strategy of being a lone supporter in a sea of opposition was completely foiled by these infatuated appearance-obsessed fans. For the first time, she felt her charm was used in the wrong way.
"No, no, no, you don’t have to listen to me... Just choose based on your own thoughts... Really, don’t mind my opinion..."
"No! Asano! We, the Little Angel Supporters Club, will follow you to the ends of the earth! No matter what choices you make, we will stay by your side, in life and death!"
"???"
Kikuchi Takamiya stepped in to smooth things over: "No need for everyone to be so negative, actually, study sessions can have many different forms... We can learn through competitions."
"Like a quiz competition with buzzers?"
"Yes, exactly."
"Then what’s the point... Might as well give the champion title directly to Shirakawa."
"Yeah, there’s no motivation to compete against him..."
Kikuchi Takamiya: "..."
Seems they have a point; in terms of knowledge competition, wouldn’t the top student in the year just humiliate them miserably in different ways?
"How about we set some limitations on the topics?"
Kikuchi Takamiya couldn’t very well suggest Shirakawa Sawahei withdraw, although Shirakawa Sawahei might actually be happier if he did.
"Eh? How do we limit it?"
Kikuchi Takamiya thought for a moment and said, "We can make it a team competition, where the questions include but aren’t limited to general knowledge, sports trivia, makeup knowledge, gaming knowledge, etc."
"Everyone can invite familiar friends to form teams, ideally mixed-gender. Those who don’t want to participate can act as judges or audience members..."
The class president described a rough outline of a small knowledge competition in just a few words, and the students in A1 Class seemed very interested, with discussion growing louder.
"This could work. My family loves baseball, and I’m quite knowledgeable about it."
"In that case, I can help with general life knowledge. My mom taught me a lot of household skills."
"Great, Xiao Si, you’re a gaming expert, we can’t do without you this time."
"S-stop saying it out loud, it’s embarrassing."
"Alright, since we have so many choices now, let’s proceed to anonymous voting next."
Kikuchi Takamiya, realizing that further discussion would lead to more options which might cloud judgment, clapped his hands to timely end the class discussion.
Shirakawa Sawahei was somewhat bewildered by the situation. He never expected that his offhand suggestion for a study session would turn into such a strange format in the end...
Was this a case of shooting oneself in the foot or an unintended win?
The voting results were quickly compiled by the class committee. In the end, the team knowledge competition option came out on top. Ise Yu’s music festival idea also had a fair number of supporters, but it was no match for the former.
As for the haunted house and shop ideas, they were undoubtedly abandoned in favor of the novel choice. Even those who proposed these ideas eagerly cast their votes for the music festival.
Cute little Ise Yu seemed a bit upset, but after being pulled by a girl to form a team, she quickly forgot her little grudge and happily started discussing who to team up with.
