Chapter 60- Unexpected Customers
Chapter 60: Chapter 60- Unexpected Customers
Hero City
A fleet of luxurious cars tore through the highway like a high-speed procession, engines roaring and paint glinting under the city lights.
At the center of this convoy was a sleek black Rolls-Royce, flanked by two armored Range Rovers—each emblazoned with the insignia of Blac Corporations.
Inside the Rolls-Royce, Cruxius leaned back, phone in hand, exhaling a long sigh.
’Your master is starving and you can’t even reply?’ he muttered silently, staring at the screen.
Earlier that morning, he’d placed an order from a specific curry shop—one he remembered clearly, even after traveling back to the past.
But now, not only had the food not arrived, there hadn’t even been a reply.
He wasn’t one to forget details, especially not when it came to that shop.
The one run by Lira—the pink-haired, cotton-candy-like maid whose cooking had once made an impression no dish ever had.
"Master, where are we headed?" Darithi asked, her eyes narrowing as she glanced out at the city skyline.
It was this city—the heart of the Hero Association, the home of Hero Ryken, and the residence of countless other heroes.
Tension coiled in her chest. She had only just heard from Ytrisia that one of the heroes had attacked Cruxius.
Likely because of what he’d said at the press conference.
The situation confused her. Why would the Hero Association act so rashly?
But when Ytrisia mentioned that the dean of the hospital—one linked to the villains—had been attacked by a superhero to twist the narrative against Cruxius, Darithi understood.
It was all part of her Master’s plan.
Ytrisia had been misled. And Darithi had no intention of correcting her.
However, one thing was true, Cruxius had made some cutting remarks about the Hero Association. And now, being here—right in the heart of Hero City—was like walking willingly into the lion’s den.
"Nothing urgent," Cruxius said coolly, ice pack pressed against his neck. "Just hunting down a cook. Someone who might finally fix my broken taste buds."
’!’
Darithi’s breath caught. Her fingers clenched on ice pack she held in her hand over his neck, taken aback—pleasantly so.
Was it really possible? Had someone finally made food her Master could taste?
But then a doubt crept in.
’Should I stop my cooking lessons?’
She glanced down, conflicted. It had always been her. Every dish that Cruxius had eaten in the Blac family mansion—she had made them all.
He never knew.
And yet every time she served him, he responded the same way, as if nothing ever truly registered on his tongue.
She had struggled endlessly, improving, experimenting, failing—hoping one day, she could reach him.
And now, maybe someone else had.
Maybe... he could finally eat something and enjoy it.
’Oh, he found someone like that?’ Ytrisia, who was seated in the front with her hands folded, glanced toward both Darithi and Cruxius.
Upon hearing his words, she felt somewhat relieved.
She had known him for some time and was aware of his odd deficiency—his inability to taste anything.
"By the way, master, what’s the name of that cook?" Darithi asked, looking at him while one hand pressed ice against his wounds and the other held his collar to help ease the pain.
"Oh, her name is Lira," Cruxius said with a chuckle, gazing out the window.
’.....’ Through the faint reflection in the glass, he saw Darithi’s lips pursed, her eyes impassive—as if his words had stirred something within her.
"...A woman. So that’s what you meant by ’taste buds’," Darithi muttered, giving him a nod—an understanding look, as if she’d realized that this talk of ’repairing his taste’ wasn’t about food at all.
"Shut up, Darithi," he snapped, silencing her.
The car moved steadily toward Sector 9 – Linton Street.
Then, almost to himself, he mumbled for the last time,
"Do you think I’m the kind of man whose brain is filled with perverted things?"
None of them seem to utter a single word...none.

A Curry Shop, Sector 9 – Linton Street, Hero City
Tucked away in an alley so narrow it could easily be missed by passersby on the footpath, there stood a worn-down and poorly maintained curry shop.
Its signboard was old-fashioned—no neon lights, just a small white bulb casting a dim glow on the faded painted text.
Yet, the smell in the air made it clear the place was still open, even if the crowd was nonexistent.
No one was inside, save for a single customer.
In the dimly lit shop, the lone customer slammed her hand on the counter.
It was an old woman.
"You call this fair? Two GC for this? You’re bleeding people dry for noodles."
Behind the counter, Lira didn’t flinch. Her pink hair swayed slightly as she calmly stirred a pot on the stove, her voice soft but firm.
"I’m charging what it costs me," she said. "Two GC is exactly what I pay to make that dish. I’m not even making a profit."
The old woman scoffed. "Then you’re a terrible businesswoman."
It felt as though she had come only to berate the shop owner, not to eat.
"...Grandma, when will you leave?" asked a little girl, about eleven or twelve years old. She sat across from the old woman, elbows on the desk, face resting in her hands, clearly annoyed.
"Hm? It’s not like you have any customers anyway. Shouldn’t I just stay here?" the old woman muttered, frowning as she pulled five GC from her pouch and placed it on the desk.
She stood, shaking her head, her slightly hunched back swaying as she made her way to the exit.
"Hehe, you always fight with big sister but still end up paying," Neuril giggled, jumping out of her chair. She grabbed the old woman’s hand and helped her toward the door—after all, she was their maternal grandmother.
Both of them made their way toward the door, which, as they approached and reached out to open it, slowly creaked open on its own—then stopped halfway.
Standing just outside was a man, flanked by two women on either side.
Cruxius looked directly at the old woman and the little girl in front of him and said,
"Long time no see, Neuril."
