Chapter 50: Chapter 50- Ytrisia’s Dilemma

In the hospital room, filled with the smell of medicines and sterility, Ytrisia lay on the bed, bandages wrapped around her skin—not for anything overly complicated, but simply for superficial wounds.

Her broken ribs, on the other hand, seemed to be healing on their own—a testament to her unique ability, which absorbed kinetic energy and slowly habituated her body and bones to withstand it.

Staring at the ceiling, Ytrisia couldn’t help but let her mind drift back to today’s events—from the moment she saved the people at the headquarters of Channel Poggo from a child who had been manipulated by someone... someone right here, in the very hospital where she now lay.

Though she wouldn’t have been able to uncover clean information on her own, she had reached out for help from Darithi.

But what puzzled her the most was how Darithi hadn’t even asked for time to investigate.

Instead, within mere seconds, she had pointed out the one behind the attack—information that seemed truthful enough, especially with the villains’ sudden arrival affirming Ytrisia’s doubts.

Yet, the real surprise had come when Ytrisia inquired how Darithi had gotten such accurate information so quickly—only to receive a reply that left her stunned.

It was none other than Cruxius who had ordered Darithi to keep an eye on her.

This simply meant that Darithi was watching her every movement. Naturally, knowing that the villain she was fighting was a child, she had prepared the details in advance.

But in all of this, one thing was clear.

A stalker. That’s what Cruxius was.

But the real confusion gnawed at her: why would he even bother?

’Why would he tell Darithi to keep an eye on me?’ The thought stubbornly refused to leave her mind.

Alone in the hospital room, with the villains’ situation already resolved, the question lingered like a weight in the air.

No matter how much she thought about it, no answer came to her.

She eventually just draped an arm over her eyes, closing them as fatigue overtook her body, leaving her in a whirl of frustration and dilemma.

Cruxius was simply... too confusing.

On one hand, he seemed drawn to countless women; on the other, he didn’t want to leave her alone.

How was she supposed to understand that?

’Forget it.’ With a sigh, her body finally surrendered to exhaustion, pulling her into sleep.

Tring—

But the night had no intention of letting her rest.

Her amethyst eyes snapped open, a lock of blonde hair slipping from her otherwise purple cascade, her entire being radiating frustration.

She lurched forward and grabbed the phone, answering without a second thought.

"Hello," she said, her voice low and hoarse.

Normally, she would have rejected the call outright. But this caller was different—someone very important.

Someone who wasn’t just her childhood caretaker but still managed most of her formal affairs even now.

Her godfather.

Ytrisia sat upright as the voice on the other end began speaking.

The gentle rustle of hospital sheets crumpled beneath her as her fingers tightened around the phone, knuckles paling, her jaw grinding in slow tension.

"You want me to what?" Her voice cut through the room, sharp and rising, the disbelief pouring into every syllable.

She stood up, despite the strain it caused her side. She couldn’t sit still—not after hearing that.

"Father, are you serious right now? Didn’t I already tell you everything a few months ago?" Ytrisia was confused, considering that a few months ago, she had received a call from the butler of the Blac family, whom she referred to as "Father," as he treated them like daughters, though he prioritized his duties first. He had inquired about her relationship with the young master of the Blac family.

Yet he just called her now to tell her that she should date that man again.

"After everything he’s done? After everything I went through with him?"

Her tone rose—not disrespectful, but emotionally unfiltered, no longer capable of masking the cracks.

Her breath trembled at the edges, lips pulled tight.

"You even saw the CCTV, didn’t you? You remember the café in Lower East where I had my second or third date? The one that ended with me catching him in the act?"

Her eyes darkened and became distant, as though she could still see the scene so clearly—the fake apologies, the sly smile Cruxius wore like a badge of pride, the way he acted as if he regretted everything he had done all that time, only for her to realize that he was guiding her toward the hotel room to do the same thing he had done with the others.

He was a perverted playboy.

"No! You are not understanding!" She began pacing slowly, ignoring the strain in her ribs.

Her free hand was in her hair now, pulling the strands away from her face in a motion that spoke of barely concealed agitation.

"You’re telling me to date him again," she spat the words out.

Ermond’s voice continued speaking from the phone—firm, but not without its share of guilt.

Ytrisia closed her eyes for a moment.

Her throat bobbed with a silent swallow.

"I’m not some pawn to be moved across the board because he suddenly has a ’reason.’" Suddenly, it was heard that this was an order from the family head, who was naturally the one who funded the orphanage and had even sponsored her as a superhero affiliated with one of the subsidiaries within the Blac family.

"And about Cruxius? He doesn’t get to stalk me, manipulate situations around me, and then act like he’s not the one who made you call me."

There was silence on her end for a heartbeat too long.

The fight was still in her eyes, but something else now lingered beneath it—exhaustion... and a trace of reluctant understanding.

"Don’t give me the ’for your own good’ talk," she murmured bitterly. "You always say that right before you ask me to walk into fire."

// Don’t forget the Blac family gave you the life you have right now, Ytrisia, you should return the favor. //

And finally, a voice that had been held back until now by Ytrisia’s determination reached out of the phone’s speaker, resonating enough to sink into her heart like a thorn.

A pause.

"...yes... I understand..." Something just broke within her.

She was indeed just an orphan in the end, blessed to have received the favor.
