My Soul card is a Reaper -
Chapter 801 - 801: Departure from the world of Irth
The living room was dimly lit, silent except for the soft hum of holographic news reports flickering in the corner. The headlines still screamed murder. The public smelled scandal and blood.
Orion sat slumped on the couch, freshly showered but still pale.
His mother stood before him, arms crossed, face unreadable. "So, this is the truth, Orion."
Orion: "…"
His face turned blank, his eyes darting left and right, to his mother and father. The former was glowing in some kind of golden energy, and the latter had wings sprouting from his back.
"So, the reason why my father was away, not because of this group called Blackwings, but was stranded near a blackhole? And father wasn't actually an angel but merely a human from an alien world?" Orion voiced his surprise.
Azzy replied with a calm nod. "More or less."
"I told you before. Alien civilizations exist more than you know." Leiza shrugged her shoulders.
"So, what now?" Orion asked.
Azzy answered. "What else? You caused a problem by murdering a citizen using unnatural means. No one in this world will believe your story. Even if you prove it, you will only throw the world into chaos. So, you only have two choices. One, I take away your powers, your mother will have to come up with her best methods to make it scientifically possible to make such a huge hole out of the human. Two, we leave this world and never return. The choice is yours."
He glanced at Leiza and added. "It looks like you don't have six months to finish up everything, after all."
Leiza sighed, sitting down. "I know. The moment the stock market opens tomorrow, everything will go down no matter what I do. It is pointless now to sell off those assets. Never expected the company I built painstakingly for so long was going to collapse in one night. I'll just transfer all of my money to the company staff workers with an abrupt termination notice."
Azzy replied, getting down and patting her hands. "Well, since we are going away anyway, I'll do something to salvage something. You may lose your staff and wealth, but I'll make sure that you won't lose your foundation."
"What do you plan on doing?" As Leiza asked, Azzy gave a mysterious smile. "You'll see…"
Later that night, Azzy appeared at Company HQ, the 124 massive skyscraper that overlooks the city like a towering giant.
His eyes glowed for a second, scanning the entire building. "Hmm… There are still staff around. Okay, let's get to the work…" He flexed his fingers with a grin.
An hour later, Azzy teleported back home.
By this time, Leiza and Orion had packed their bags and were waiting for him.
Azzy says that he is ready.
He tells them to come out.
That night, under the cover of midnight clouds, the three of them gathered in the courtyard as he instructed.
Azzy then looked at them and took out something that looked like a laptop bag.
He opened the bag and in a second, the entire mansion was gone in the blink of an eye and absorbed into the bag. He looked at the shocked Leiza and Orion. "Let's go?"
"Wow. So storage cards can do this… Dad wasn't kidding back then at all…" Orion couldn't help but look at amazement.
"So, this is what you meant by salvaging something?" Leiza said in surprise. "Tell me. What did you do earlier?"
Azzy shrugged. "Well, I absorbed the company building. Your house and building comes with us."
"What!" Leiza was shocked, couldn't hold her voice. "What will people thinkk ofit. In the night, suddenly an entire skyscraper was gone. It will cause chaos here."
"Why should we care anyway? It's not like we are going to live here." As Orion scoffed, leiza narrowed her eyes and instantly grabbed his ear, "You brat… this is all because of you… you dare speak now…"
"How could that be my fault? If anything, it is your fault for keeping such a big secret from me." As Orion countered her, Leiza twisted his ear with force. "You talk back to me now?"
"Ah… Ah… Ah… sorry…" As Orion apologized, Azzy sighed. "Anyway, he is right in some sense. We are leaving this world. Let our disappearance be a mystery. Let's just go…"
Azzy summoned the Sword of Radiance.
White energy crackled around it, humming with angelic power. He drove it into the ground, and the world around them trembled.
"Grab me," Azzy said.
Both of them come to him, grabbing his arms from each side.
At once, light engulfed them.
And in a burst of energy and silence, they vanished.
Gone from the world.
However, just minutes later, the sky above the city cracked with thunder.
A black vortex twisted open in the upper stratosphere.
From it descended a being, looking childlike with angelic wings.
His eyes glowed with molten fury as he hovered above the empty courtyard. "So close," he growled. "I missed you… So narrowly, Azrael. But one day, I will get to you. No matter where you hide in the universe, I will chase after you and kill you, dragging your soul to my realm and torturing you for eternity."
His voice rumbled across the hills like a curse. "I will find you. I will get my sword back."
He vanished into the storm, leaving behind only silence.
*
The light of the sword faded, and their feet landed on soft, dew-covered grass.
Above them stretched a clear sky. In the air, a warm wind carried the scent of mountain pine and blooming roses.
Azzy looked around with a nostalgic smile. "My home… Welcome to my world, Planet Gaia."
Leiza narrowed her eyes at the foreign sky, which looked exactly the same as theirs. Even the surroundings weren't that different. "So this is where you came from?"
Orion looked around in suspicion. "Is this really your world? I feel like we just teleported to the countryside."
It was at this moment that a ripple tore through space.
A shimmering silhouette formed before them, an old man, tall and proud, with silver hair braided down to his waist and a long emerald robe.
"Ancestor?" Azzy was momentarily taken aback.
"Azrael…" the man breathed with a sigh of relief. "I thought it was some foreign invader. Turns out that it was you."
Qridus Garcia, former patriarch of the Garcia Clan, looked healthy, but his eyes seemed like they were quite tired. His sharp eyes then darted to Leiza, then to Orion. "These are?"
Azzy scratched his head awkwardly. "Uh, yeah. This is Leiza, my wife. And this…"
He turned to Orion, giving him a soft pat on the shoulder.
"…is our son. Orion."
Qirdus' eyes widened, and he took a good look at Orion and then at Azzy. "Of course he is. He carries your features. But…" Taking a pause, he added with a frown. "I can't sense soul energy in him, though."
Azzy flinched but then said. "That's because his powers were inherited from his mother."
Qirdus's expression shifted. He looked at Leiza and scanned her. His eyes widened, and he took a step back in reflex. "You have divinity, lady. But you are also a mortal. Why?"
Azzy sighed, "It's a long story, ancestor. We'll talk about it later." He then looked at Orion and Leiza, introducing the Old man. "Anyways, Leiza, Orion. This is my great-grandfather, and my predecessor. Greet him."
"Ah, Yes, Hello." "Hello."
