My Servant System -
Chapter 1360 - 1359: Questions About Blood
"This is really intriguing... and now I feel even more pissed off that I wasn't able to join you all in this Trial! This would have been an incredible reward for me too!"
Jahi, who had always been a rather steadfast and 'mature' Demoness, someone I always had to remind myself was far too grown for the amount of time she had been alive now reminded me of that time as she pouted and kicked her feet a little, like a child who had been denied a fun toy.
It was moments like this that gave me that conflicted swirl of emotions, where I was amused at how childish my lovers could still be while also blanching a little as I had to question my own morals, only to ignore that immediately since it was a slope that wasn't required to be slipped on.
"You couldn't have gone, but even if you did it would have just taken one of us out of it, so the end result would be the same. Besides, Draka needed to go and she needed the confidence booster."
"I don't know how much good that did her, but she does feel a little stronger now. How much it actually improved her is still a mystery... but that's besides the point. I want this nifty bracelet that could make it easier to travel!"
I just rolled my eyes at her insistence before turning to do the same at my mate, who said "Yeah, imagine all of the weapons I could carry in that! One of each kind of sword, spear and blunt weapon all waiting to be used...", earning herself the nod of approval from Jahi.
"Well, I think we should bring ourselves back towards the more pressing topic..."
Leone - who was now back to her normal self after a few hours sleep - interrupted their daydreams of what they would use the bracelets for as she brought us back around towards the important reward we had gotten; the bloodline refining array.
"This can improve or purify the bloodlines of whoever uses it, and if I am understanding it correctly the array is one time use. Like the bracelet itself the runes I am seeing are just... unintelligible. I cannot remember them even though they are made of or are related to Blood Magic."
"I still don't really understand the whole bloodline thing..."
The Demoness just shrugged as she stared at the scroll in Leone's hands, making me smile wryly as I tried to piece together a way to tell her why this was so damn powerful and awesome of a reward, only to have Anput chime in a moment later.
"You're asking more so about who among us should use it, right? You have two of them and there are four of us; that means two people are getting sidelined for the improvements, so we need to figure out which two."
"I think it's somewhat obvious, no? The ones who should undergo the improvements are the two who have a less interesting bloodline. I don't really follow the specifics but I do know that Demoness blood is better than Beastkin blood, and do we really need to make an argument about the blood of a Vampire mixed whatever the Empress is?"
"Thanks, I like being told I'm lesser. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside."
Anput gave Jahi a dry look that just made the Demoness snort as she leaned over and asked "You sure that's not my cum making you feel that way?", her mood still clearly in tuned with what had happened in the tent.
"Anyways, there is also the option of just... not using it? We could save it for... anyone else, or any other time?"
Leone's suggestion fell on deaf ears - mine included, honestly - so the Vampire just sighed and changed her tune as she said "Or we could use it now, that works too. Um... The primary concern I have is not knowing what blood runs through our veins, right? Immediate blood related family members are known, yes, but... what about two generations removed? Does it head back even further than that? What does it target?"
They were good questions and immediately Jahi began to understand a little more about her own previous question, which had her looking at me as she pursed her lips and said "Well... Kat doesn't really know. Mother Julie might've said your dad was a Dogkin..? Caninekin?"
I shrugged as well, that portion of my memories being rather blurry since she had spoken of it once and never brought it up after that, and I myself had zero interest in discovering that portion of my 'family' tree.
"That... yes, that could be problematic. She is a Dogkin, but like everyone nowadays she has 'mixed' blood. I mean, you have both Demoness AND Elven blood, which shows in your ears and Core. This is sort of why I wanted to save them..."
"If it is an improvement it cannot be bad, right? So use it now and piece it together later. I still think both the puppies should take it over us. Maybe they turn into wolves or something..."
Jahi's teasing words made Anput's fur bristle while I just stared at her with a raised brow, unimpressed by her goads and not wanting to fall for them as I instead looked towards the Vampire, who was smiling wryly.
"If you do use it, I imagine it'll target the dominant blood first? Or maybe it is like the Dual Cultivation technique where you do most of the 'work' yourself? In which case I would imagine you could target the parts of yourself that you view as more important. I don't really know..."
"That's providing argument for why you two should use it instead of us though. If we can make the two stronger bloodlines even stronger, that's far more important, no? Raise the ceiling instead of trying to raise the floor... and the improvements should be more drastic because of how unique and potent your blood is..."
There were good points on both sides, points that were ensuring our decision was still undecided and leaving us with a few more questions that we needed to attempt to answer... which was hard.
