Chapter 341: Chapter 141: A Huge Harvest! Made a Fortune! The Dragon that Devoured Divinity (Seeking Monthly Votes)_4
The face slap came too sudden for them to react.
Why is it that Gary Smith could treat this place as his own home?
He had everything he needed!
All that was missing was a skeletal angel dressed in a maid outfit, shouting about the great rebirth of the Great Master.
Gary Smith simply shrugged his shoulders and explained that this clay figurine was the thing he had seized from the imposter Village Chief during the Border Tomb Village incident.
He initially thought that this item could summon an army of undead and was possibly some kind of treasure, that could be sold off in the future. Thus, he kept it.
This time, after seeing the indentations on the door of the Divine Temple, Gary’s powerful memory came into play. He quickly matched up the traces on the bottom of the clay figurine with the indentations on the door, so he thought it might be worth trying.
Unexpectedly, it was actually successful.
"It seems like the origin of the Border Tomb Village... is not so simple!"
After hearing Gary’s explanation, everyone was amazed at such a coincidence. If they had not stolen a key from the Faceless Brotherhood, they probably would be standing uselessly outside the door right now. Even if they were to resort to forcibly breaching the door, it would take a significant amount of time, which could potentially result in damaging the treasures inside the Divine Temple.
The Faceless Brotherhood probably didn’t anticipate that they would be one step ahead of them. They had done all the work for nothing.
Subsequently, they stepped inside the temple, proceeding cautiously. They soon discovered that everything inside was empty.
There stood a giant statue that was severely damaged. Its head had no eyes, its body had no limbs and it had petal-like structures and sharp teeth protruding from its torso.
Upon first glance at it, Gary’s world suddenly changed.
All things transformed as if everything was rapidly retreating. He saw a massive, unimaginable, dark golden city, filled with numerous pale humanoid figures, much like an eerie pile of bones.
Due to the blurriness of the image, Gary could only confirm them as some kind of undead life form, but the specifics were uncertain.
In their midst, several temples stood tall, resembling the current Divine Temple. In the center were three gigantic Central Temples, the size of mountains and arranged in a triangular formation.
A huge, eerie and inexplicable column of shadow coiled behind it and hid within its mysterious world. Visibly turning and revolving, it was filled with the vortex of ancient dark energy, filling the Holy City with the bone-chilling coldness of death and void.
On the ground, countless beings continuously brought the bodies of the dead to the temples, where they were devoured of their life and turned into bones that then transformed into the white figures seen in the city.
The God remained still and just a glimpse of its body reflected the ancient and dark abyss.
"Is this the deity worshipped by this civilization, an Ancient God of the Underworld..."
Gary was struck with awe at his insignificance. Yet, the next moment, the dim heavenly dome of the Holy City began to display countless Worlds of Gears, enormous and ceaselessly rotating like stars.
Then, in the next moment, it suddenly collapsed and shattered everything.
This Ancient God of the Underworld swayed lightly, the dark column of shadow spread out and countless skeletons crawled out from the ground, closely packed together, turning into an Undead Disaster.
All matters, tangible and intangible, were devoured by it.
In an instant,
The scene started fragmenting and even without a clear view, Gary could sense the breathtaking power it held. Even the Star Dominator seemed infinitesimal in comparison.
He did not know how long the war lasted, but the light started to get strange, as if dusk was approaching and the battle was nearing its end.
The World of Gears had also been partially destroyed, along with the Holy City.
The earth shattered, swallowing and obliterating everything.
"So this is the truth behind the extinction of the ancient civilization."
The scene was gradually engulfed by a dim light. In the last moment, Gary seemed to hear a faint chant.
The sound was low and hoarse, as if it was shouting out a name. The overlapping layers of noise became more and more clear, drawing closer and closer to the point that he couldn’t help but repeat the three words:
"Emperor of Hidden Corpses..."
"What about Emperor of Hidden Corpses?"
Serena Martin’s voice echoed, pulling Gary back to reality. The world before his eyes shifted, returning to the empty temple.
He instantly realized that it seemed like he had witnessed some scenes from the past through the Eye of Truth.
An ancient God war!
Facing Serena’s doubtful eyes, Gary explained:
"This statue is quite similar to a deity named ’Emperor of Hidden Corpses’ that was recorded in an ancient book I read in the past."
If he revealed the truth about witnessing history, the Eye of Truth could not be hidden, hence, Gary could only give such an evasive response.
"Indeed it’s the Emperor of Hidden Corpses, an ancient deity of the Underworld. According to the sacrificial information, it is a Great Existence that can devour the death of all things and reshape death."
The three archaeologists were surprised as well. After all, they had just translated the remaining information and found out that this temple enshrined a deity named the Emperor of Hidden Corpses.
They did not expect Gary to know about it!
They were keen to read that ancient book, believing it may assist in unraveling this ancient history.
However, after finding out that Gary didn’t know where he had put the book, they couldn’t help but feel distressed.
Subsequently, after their exploration, everyone was certain there wasn’t much left in the temple. The related textual information was all captured by the three archaeologists. As for physical objects, there were none.
Rose of the Crimson Moon and Dream of the Crimson Moon were not disappointed, for, the two objectives of this venture had already been accomplished. Upon entering the temple, they became aware of some matters which they could report to their mother.
