Chapter 161: Chapter 97: Causing a Sensation! Getting Rich! Creating New Secret Food! (Request for Monthly Tickets) _3
[Dusk Raven: Mmm.]
[Chadwick Green: Looks like you’ve made quite a haul, little kitty snickers, jpg.]
[Dusk Raven: The outcome was slightly off the plan, a big fight broke out which made me keep my distance, but thanks to you disrupting the ceremony, I located a hidden lair, where a lot of riches plundered by Limb Demons were kept, so I made a fortune, this is your cut]
[Chadwick Green: I see, that’s impressive, but isn’t this money a bit too much? I don’t think I need this much.]
[Dusk Raven: It’s what you’re entitled to.]
The two of them chatted idly for a while, just as Gary Smith was about to end the conversation, he noticed a message from her.
[Chadwick Green: The full moon is in the night sky.]
Full moon?
Gary Smith glanced at the bright, shining Primal Moon. It was indeed very beautiful, but the Primal Moon was full most of the time, only transforming into a crescent moon on certain specific days, so it wasn’t really strange.
But, well, girls tending to be more artistic wasn’t unusual, it’s just that Gary Smith himself, who was busy rushing home to make Skill Secret Food, didn’t feel anything special about it and so replied with "The moon is beautiful tonight", then quickly wrapped up the conversation.
Women, they only impede his path to becoming stronger.
On the other side, atop the rooftop of a skyscraper, Evelyn Walker was dressed in an ivory-colored lace-trimmed cardigan, contrasting it with a camel-colored A-line skirt, her hair falling loosely, adding to her demure and amiable appearance.
She sat at the edge of the roof, gazing down at the city below, her fair legs gently swaying.
Upon seeing Gary Smith’s response, she stifled a smile and casually placed her mobile phone aside.
The displayed message bar still contained an unsent text that will now never be sent:
[You dwell in my heart silently, like the full moon occupying the night sky. ]
In countless simulations, Gary Smith had long become the anchor that steadied her rationality. If not for him, under the influence of that countless future pollution, she probably would have already turned into...
Raising her head towards the ancient, eternal moon, Evelyn Walker saw something more. Her amber eyes radiated a diseased infatuation and a moth-to-flame madness.
Even if it meant she died on her journey to the star cluster, at least she had seen his silhouette.
"Come to think of it, my cousin makes for a useful supporting player. I might consider including him in the upcoming plans..."
............
On the other side, after buying Mousie the agreed-upon snacks, the rascal actually stuffed them into the Little Spider’s Void Treasure Chest, essentially turning it into its personal grain warehouse.
However, since this involved just a short journey, Gary Smith didn’t feel like making a fuss.
He had planned to head home, but upon passing a shoe repair stall, he suddenly remembered that his battle boots were worn because of the previous skirmish. Although not ruined, they were showing signs of wear and tear.
But it felt wasteful to simply buy a new pair. Gary Smith figured it would be better to just get them repaired.
You should always spend your money where it’s needed most!
So, he took out his special war boots and asked:
"Boss, how much to repair these boots?"
The cobbler was a middle-aged man named Sebastian Parks, wearing a black apron and looked amiable. He had been running his stall in this neighborhood for over a decade. Although mainly a shoe repair stall, he could fix anything from a clothing zipper to household appliances. His craftsmanship was great, and his charges were reasonable, making him popular with the locals.
Even if Gary Smith had never been here, he had heard about his reputation.
"Someone’s here!"
Sebastian Parks, who was quietly tutoring a little boy sprawled on a little table, immediately turned around when he heard the noise.
On seeing Gary Smith, he paused for a moment before hurriedly wiping his hands on his apron and carefully took the boots from him. After examining them closely, he said:
"These war boots are made with fine leather, probably from the skin of a tenacious lizard. I’ve got some of these in stock. There are no holes in your boots, they just need some repairs... I’ll charge you three hundred."
"Alright."
Gary Smith knew this was a fair price, so he nodded in agreement. The boss brought him a chair to sit on and then put on his reading glasses to start repairing meticulously.
"BeastMaster, are we still not home yet?" Mousie, bored, drifted out of his pocket without waiting for an answer. Suddenly a timid voice sounded:
"Is...it also a Pet Beast?"
Gary turned his head to see that it’s the little boy from the shoe repair stall speaking, looking about seven or eight years old.
Could he see Mousie after the spiritual field has been modified?
Gary was somewhat surprised, but didn’t think much about it. After all, given the vast human clan, it’s normal to have a few individuals with strong perception. So he nodded.
Seeing his reaction, the little boy’s eyes lit up, and after hesitating for a while, he took out two pieces of Sour Plum Candy. Giving his father who was busily repairing shoes another glance, he said in a quiet voice:
"Um... I’ll treat you guys with candy, can I take a closer look at it? I promise I won’t mess around..."
Gary looked at the expectant eyes of the little boy, and the candy in his hand. Indeed, people tend to be more tolerate when it comes to innocent children.
Except for the naughty ones.
However, Gary didn’t directly agree but instead turned his head to ask Mousie:
"Is it okay?"
Looking at the pure-souled little boy, Mousie felt a genuine kindness and crossed its little paws, and said arrogantly:
"Fine!"
"It can even talk, and it’s floating on the cloud, so cool..."
The little boy looked excited as he moved closer to Mousie, floating on the cloud. The look of admiration in his eyes and his constant exclamations greatly satisfied Mousie’s vanity.
Gary unwrapped a candy, popped it into his mouth, and the sour taste stimulated his taste buds. He then asked, "What’s your name? Do you like Pet Beasts a lot?"
"Uh-huh!" The boy nodded and then said, "My name is Morgan. I really, really like Pet Beasts. My teacher says I’m good at studying, and I have a good chance of becoming a Beastmaster in the future. I can go on adventures with cute Pet Beasts, and then earn money to buy a grand villa for my dad to enjoy..."
Upon saying this, he awkwardly scratched his head. It’s unavoidable to feel a bit shy discussing a dream not yet achieved.
Having listened carefully, Gary encouraged:
"Keep going, you can do it!"
This wasn’t a lie. Given the strength of the little boy’s soul, the speed at which he could absorb Spiritual Power as a Beastmaster would definitely surpass others. As long as he worked hard, he’d achieve something.
"Thank you, you’re such a nice person, big brother!"
A smile broke onto Morgan’s face as he handed Gary a figurative ’nice man card’. He wanted to say something more but, catching sight of his father about to stand up, he hurried back to the small table to continue studying.
Gary checked out his newly repaired shoes, looking almost brand new. Satisfied, he paid through mobile payment and left.
Sebastian Parks looked down at his son who was immersed in study, a smile gracing his face. He’d heard everything that had just the transpired and saw the floating Mousie too, but acted clueless instead.
Morgan was an obedient and smart child, his pride, and so he was determined to save up money to support him.
But these were words Sebastian wouldn’t say. Words he couldn’t express. He would simply silently support his son and let him pursue his dreams.
Rather than leading a mediocre life, like himself.
Just as he was about to assist with the homework, he heard a gentle, magnetic voice from behind:
"Excuse me, do you repair leather shoes here?"
"Of course!"
He turned around and was met with an elegant man in a swallowtail coat wearing a three-lobed eye mask...
Meanwhile, once Gary got home, Mousie immediately lay on the sofa with Cola Potato Chips, ready to relax. Little Spider, who liked cleanliness, started a big cleanup.
Gary shook his head at the sight of his two very different Pet Beasts, then began to prepare a Skill Secret Food that would allow Little Spider to completely metamorphose...
