My Multiple Identities Revealed After Marrying the Bigshot
Chapter 378: I Will Not Divorce Zhou Shuyan

Chapter 378: Chapter 378: I Will Not Divorce Zhou Shuyan

"Ever since I married Zhou Shuyan, I never asked him for help in anything, except for Youxue’s schooling, when I really had no other choice. So I asked for his help to get Youxue registered at his family’s place," Lu Youxi said.

"You want to say that our family has taken advantage of him, I absolutely disagree with that," Lu Youxi asserted.

Lu Zhenguo knew that Lu Youxi was angry.

He regretted that he could never watch his tongue and often failed to express himself properly.

"Youxi, that’s not what I meant..." Lu Zhenguo hurriedly explained.

"No matter what you thought, I assure you that our family has never, and will never take advantage of Zhou Shuyan," Lu Youxi said. "Even before I knew Zhou Shuyan’s real identity, I had planned to rent for a year. There’s still half a year left on the lease. I’m already looking at houses. When the time comes, I’ll buy a bigger one so we don’t have to keep moving. The next time we move, it will be because I’ve made money and can afford a better place."

"So, you don’t have to worry about how big the gap is between the Zhou family and our family. No matter how big the gap, I haven’t taken advantage of it, which means it’s as if it doesn’t exist to us."

"As for what you said about Zhou Shuyan being destitute in Hexing Village when he married me, let’s turn it around - Zhou Shuyan hid his identity and married me, which is also like deceiving me," Lu Youxi said calmly. "You can’t think our family was in the wrong just because the Zhou family is wealthier and more prestigious."

"I didn’t know his identity, but he knew everything about our family and me, and he knew himself even better. He wouldn’t have married me if he hadn’t wanted to. So, there’s no such thing as me deceiving him into marriage."

"I didn’t think so..." Lu Zhenguo muttered.

Lu Youxi chuckled, not arguing further with Lu Zhenguo.

Although Lu Zhenguo didn’t explicitly say it, Lu Youxi understood the implication.

That’s why she was upset.

"I won’t divorce Zhou Shuyan, and you and mom shouldn’t feel inferior to them. Before we knew their status, I got along well with Zhou Shuyan’s mother, and she never looked down on you. You don’t need to belittle yourselves."

Lu Youxi continued, "We should continue interacting with them as we always have."

"Dad, you need to change your mindset. In this respect, mom has always been doing better," Lu Youxi smiled. "After mom came to the Imperial Capital, she’s become more composed and doesn’t feel inferior to anyone."

Lu Zhenguo felt a bit ashamed.

Once, he was the head of the family, but now Lu Youxi was telling him that Liu Yushu was doing better.

And truthfully, Lu Zhenguo had occasionally harbored that thought as well.

In Hexing Village, he was the main labor force in the household, handling most of the farm work.

But since coming to the Imperial Capital, he could only do manual labor.

Such as monitoring the safety of internet cafes, cleaning, and helping with dish delivery in restaurants.

But Liu Yushu was capable enough to run a restaurant on her own, even discussing its management with Grandma Xu.

Initially, Lu Youxi had only been in charge of the preliminary preparations for the restaurant.

Once the restaurant was operational, hiring staff and managing it were handled by Liu Yushu and Grandma Xu.

Now that Lu Youxi had brought up this issue, Lu Zhenguo was forced to confront a problem he had intentionally overlooked.

Liu Yushu had progressed much more than him.

Not just at work.

Including social interactions and handling matters, Liu Yushu was smoother.

"I... I understand," Lu Zhenguo said, looking somewhat disheartened.

Lu Youxi noticed but offered no comfort.

This was indeed Lu Zhenguo’s issue. Once identified, he needed to improve and change himself.

Otherwise, Liu Yushu would continue outpacing him, widening the gap between them even further.

In time, they might not even be compatible anymore.

Comforting Lu Zhenguo now would not be helpful.

"Dad, let’s go outside," Lu Youxi suggested and turned to leave.

Lu Zhenguo followed behind.

When they returned to the living room, Grandma Xu was sitting there, smiling as she watched Liu Yushu and Xu Jingmin. In just a short time, somehow they had reverted to their former friendly relations.

Lu Zhenguo looked at Liu Yushu in surprise, "What’s going on here...?"

"I’ve had a good talk with Yushu," Xu Jingmin said cheerfully. "Since the kids love each other and aren’t getting divorced, why should we be estranged?"

"Exactly," Liu Yushu nodded. "Shuyan is remarkable, but I believe, given Youxi’s capabilities and her own efforts, she can achieve just as much as Shuyan. Then, who can say they aren’t well matched?"

"Even now, they are well matched," Xu Jingmin immediately added. "How many people, under the same circumstances and at the same age, can achieve what Youxi has achieved? Maybe I haven’t met enough people, but at least I haven’t seen any."

Liu Yushu’s eyes crinkled with smiles as Xu Jingmin spoke, nodding repeatedly.

She thought Xu Jingmin’s words made a lot of sense and were convincing.

"You are just too modest. Haven’t you met enough people? And the people you have met, they’re all elites. If you say so, it must be true," Liu Yushu said with a beaming smile.

Lu Zhenguo was dumbfounded, unable to grasp how Liu Yushu and Xu Jingmin had returned to normal so quickly while he and Lu Youxi had only talked for a short while.

But Grandma Xu remained calm throughout.

No matter what Zhou Shuyan’s status, to her, he had always been that responsible, capable young man who learned quickly, and that had never changed.

"Oh, by the way, mother-in-law, Aunt Xu, I have something I’d like to discuss with you both," Xu Jingmin said.

Upon being addressed, Grandma Xu looked towards Xu Jingmin.

"Aunt Xu, would you be willing to move out and live on your own?" Xu Jingmin asked Grandma Xu.

"Live on her own?" Liu Yushu spoke first. "Aunt Xu has been living comfortably with us, why would we have her live on her own?"

"I was actually considering, ideally in the same building nearby, either renting or buying a place for Aunt Xu and hiring a caretaker," Xu Jingmin explained slowly. "That way, Aunt Xu can still live close to you and have someone to look after her. This is my own idea, it doesn’t necessarily mean Aunt Xu would like it or that you would agree. I just thought it might give all of you more space if Aunt Xu lived on her own. It also provides a place for Youxi when she returns, and I’d be able to help take care of Aunt Xu too."
