Chapter 366: Chapter 366: If I Say No, You’ll Be Unhappy
The three girls also thought so, plus Lu Youxi certainly understood Zhou Shuyan better than them.
So they left with Lu Youxi’s lunchbox.
Lu Youxi stayed in the dorm to read, but half an hour later, the three returned.
Not only were they holding Lu Youxi’s lunchbox, but each one of them was also carrying several plastic bags.
Through the clear plastic bags, one could clearly see the food they contained.
Rice and various vegetables and meats were separately packed.
"You three didn’t eat in the cafeteria?" Lu Youxi asked in surprise.
The timing didn’t quite add up.
If they hadn’t eaten in the cafeteria, they should have been back earlier.
But if they had eaten there, they had returned too quickly.
Moreover, it was clear they took their meals as a takeaway.
"Forget it, this trip was really troublesome for us," Lu Xiaohui handed the lunchbox to Lu Youxi.
Lu Youxi took it; it was heavy and still hot to the touch.
Lu Xiaohui then said, "We first went to the School of Economics’ cafeteria, but we couldn’t even get through the door."
"The entrance was completely blocked. I asked a student in front and found out that Zhou Shuyan and some other alumni guests from the School of Economics were dining in the cafeteria. Most people were there to see Zhou Shuyan," Lu Xiaohui explained halfway through, too exhausted, and started to drink some water.
Having just taken a few sips of water, Xia Jinqiao continued, "When we got there, it was actually quite early, and the cafeteria had just started not long before. But it was already full of people, even the aisles were packed, which is why people at the door couldn’t get in. They were all blocked outside just trying to catch a glimpse of Zhou Shuyan."
"Good heavens," Mo Yuchun shook her head continuously, "I’ve only seen such scenes when people chase celebrities in the news. Never thought I’d see something like this at our school."
After drinking some water, Lu Xiaohui continued, "Our schoolmates have their favorite celebrities too, but they are quite rational in their pursuit. Seldom do they passionately go offline to see celebrities in person or participate in such events. I thought our students were only focused on studying and would put everything else aside. Today was an eye-opener, they do chase celebrities, but it all depends on who it is."
"Did you guys manage to squeeze in then?" Lu Youxi, holding the steaming lunch box, thought if they hadn’t made it in, they wouldn’t have been able to get food.
But judging from their description, could they have made it in half an hour?
It must have been really tough for the three of them.
"No way, you didn’t see the scene, we didn’t even dare to try," Xia Jinqiao shook her head, indicating she didn’t dare move a bit, "so we simply went to another school’s cafeteria."
"As a result, the cafeterias of the Physics and Mathematics schools, although not as exaggerated as that of the School of Economics, were also crowded. The lines at the food windows were incredibly long." Xia Jinqiao sighed, "We had to continue to other schools’ cafeterias and finally got lunch at the School of Environmental Engineering. That cafeteria was normal, not too crowded. But it’s just that it’s far from here, and we wandered other cafeterias in between. So, it took a considerable amount of time on the road."
"We originally thought we’d join the cafeteria hustle, who would have thought it’d be so jammed that we couldn’t even get through the door," Lu Xiaohui remarked with a sigh.
That afternoon, the four of them set out to attend the anniversary celebration, and only then did they know from a fellow student that not just they couldn’t get in, Zhou Shuyan and his group had almost been unable to get out.
Zhou Shuyan himself hadn’t expected that, just going to the cafeteria for a meal, he might bump into Lu Youxi too.
He knew of Lu Youxi, who usually frequented the cafeteria at the School of Economics.
Because of its proximity and convenience for dining, as well as the good taste of the meals and the guaranteed safety of the food ingredients, all at half the price of outside establishments, Lu Youxi enjoyed eating at the Jing University cafeteria.
However, Zhou Shuyan had not expected that, instead of waiting for Lu Youxi, he ended up waiting for a large group of students.
Since there were school leaders accompanying him, no students came up to ask for autographs while he was eating.
But it still didn’t stop the students from flocking to see, not just filling up the cafeteria but also crowding around the entrance to the point of being impassable.
Yet everyone pretended they were there just to eat, and even the school leaders had no reason to send them away.
Seeing the situation deteriorating, Zhou Shuyan decided to leave quickly,
to avoid even more people coming as time went on.
But by then, the entrance was already impenetrably crowded.
Having no other choice, he ultimately had to call security, and only with great difficulty did they manage to clear a path at the cafeteria entrance to let Zhou Shuyan and others out.
When Zhou Shuyan finally emerged, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Inside, the crowd was too dense, and because the entrance was blocked off, air circulation inside the cafeteria had become poor.
The air even seemed murky.
Filled with the smell of food and the unpleasant odor of breath from many people,
these smells combined to become even less pleasant.
Where could Zhou Shuyan find any appetite to eat, when even breathing felt oppressive?
Having finally made it out, Zhou Shuyan took a few deep breaths, finally feeling somewhat relieved.
The accompanying school leaders, feeling embarrassed, said, "I’m truly sorry; the students were rarely able to see you all and became overly enthusiastic, which was somewhat beyond our expectations."
"I saw that you all hardly had the chance to eat a few bites." The school leaders continued, "I’ll have someone go to the cafeteria to buy some food and send it over."
"Thank you," Zhou Shuyan nodded.
Then, Zhou Shuyan, along with Yu Zeqin and other guests, headed first to the apartment building arranged by the school to rest.
Once they were in the room and alone, Zhou Shuyan asked Yu Zeqin, "Do you think Youxi’s attitude towards me seemed a bit softer this morning?"
Yu Zeqin: "..."
Could you please not ask me such life-threatening questions?
If I say no, you’ll be unhappy.
But if I say yes, Lu Youxi will be unhappy.
After a lot of deliberation, Yu Zeqin began ambiguously, "Madam voluntarily calling you today is indeed a good sign. However, you shouldn’t overlook the fact that Madam didn’t want to expose the relationship between you two at school."
"As to why she didn’t want it exposed?" Yu Zeqin offered two possibilities, "It’s likely because Madam is low-key and doesn’t want to attract attention at school due to this issue. According to Madam’s usual style, she is passive and only admits to running internet cafes and companies when discovered. So, this possibility is very high."
"But we also can’t ignore the possibility that Madam might want a divorce, and to avoid trouble explaining it later, she might prefer not to expose your current relationship." Seeing Zhou Shuyan’s expression turning increasingly sour, Yu Zeqin quickly added, "Of course, I personally think this possibility is still very small."
