Chapter 336: Chapter 336: Recruiting New Members

Lu Youxi spoke and then dashed upstairs.

She climbed two flights of stairs when she suddenly stopped.

Zhou Shuyan was still standing where he was, watching her.

Today, Xu Jingmin had brought up when Zhou Shuyan would come clean to Lu Youxi about his identity, making Zhou Shuyan again apprehensive to get too close to her.

He always felt a sense of guilt, afraid that Lu Youxi would remember their past closeness and be even more upset when the truth came out.

So now, he could only gaze at Lu Youxi longingly.

Seeing Lu Youxi suddenly stop, Zhou Shuyan’s eyes showed confusion.

Immediately after, he saw Lu Youxi turn back and run down to him.

Zhou Shuyan looked down at Lu Youxi, puzzled.

Lu Youxi tiptoed and quickly pecked him on the lips, "Goodnight."

Then, she rushed back upstairs.

It was just because she was too nervous; this was her first time being so proactive.

Halfway up the stairs, she was so tense that she tripped.

Zhou Shuyan was startled, although it was too late to catch her, he still tried to reach out to steady her.

Luckily, she had been holding on to the stair railing all along, which prevented her from falling.

Zhou Shuyan stopped in his tracks, relieved.

Lu Youxi, with one hand on the staircase and the other covering her face, was too embarrassed to look back.

It was hard enough to take the initiative, but who would have thought it would lead to embarrassment?

Zhou Shuyan must have seen it.

Lu Youxi reached the second floor and quickly lay down in bed.

She also heard Zhou Shuyan from downstairs calling out, "Good night."

Lu Youxi: "..."

Couldn’t this man just pretend he didn’t exist for a moment?

Lu Youxi pulled the blanket over her face, but then she heard Zhou Shuyan ask, "Did you hurt yourself just now?"

Lu Youxi: "!!!"

Who said he was considerate?

Why couldn’t he just let her forget the awkwardness quietly, pretending that the incident hadn’t happened?

"Youxi?" As he didn’t get a reply, Zhou Shuyan called out again.

"No!" Lu Youxi replied hastily.

Zhou Shuyan then relaxed and went back to sleep.

They had both been busy all day, Zhou Shuyan even more so.

So even after the embarrassment, Lu Youxi fell asleep as soon as she closed her eyes.

The next day, Lu Youxi woke up near noon.

Zhou Shuyan had gone to the company early, leaving Lu Youxi alone in the apartment.

Lu Youxi sighed in relief; after such an embarrassing night, she was scared to open her eyes and see Zhou Shuyan.

Lu Youxi tidied up a bit, opened the fridge, intending to make herself lunch.

There was no shortage of ingredients in the fridge, but unexpectedly, there was also toast.

Lu Youxi simply ate a few slices of toast to fill her stomach, and meanwhile, she brewed a cup of coffee to wake herself up.

Then, she went to the company.

When she arrived, Ji Deyi and Pei Jingyuan were munching on bread while working on their computers.

There were only Pei Jingyuan and Ji Deyi in the company, but there was a sense of chaos as if the office was filled with people.

"I think it’s time we hired a few more people," Lu Youxi said as she sat down.

"Boss, you’re back!" Pei Jingyuan crammed the last bite of bread into his mouth.

Lu Youxi nodded, "I was busy until late last night, so I came late today. Starting tomorrow, I will be on time."

"There’s nothing much; we would have told you if there was anything," Ji Deyi said, "But are you planning to hire people?"

Lu Youxi nodded, "Initially, we were just trying to develop Little Pink Book, unsure of the outcomes, so the two of you were enough. Moreover, at the beginning, we couldn’t afford that many people. Even after the partnership with Chengzhou began, it just about managed to function."

"But now our collaboration with Chengzhou is on the right track, and Chengzhou’s investment has also arrived. We can’t continue running like a small workshop," Lu Youxi said, "We need to become more formal, prepare the necessary departments at least."

"You two can’t just be commanders without soldiers, right?" Lu Youxi said with a smile, "You still need subordinates to help you out."

"If we really could hire a few people, it would indeed be better," Pei Jingyuan agreed, "But we two are just freshmen. If we brought people in, would they be willing to follow us?"

"We’ll certainly be hiring graduates, maybe some with work experience. But when they see that we’re just freshmen, they might think we know nothing and feel reluctant to work under us."

"Aren’t the spring job fairs about to start?" Lu Youxi said, "We’ll set up a booth at Jing University."

Ji Deyi: "..."

It was a campus recruitment event, but the boss made it sound like they were heading to a night market.

"However, boss, are you really planning to nab a ’sheep’ from Jing University?" Ji Deyi lamented.

"It’s just convenient, isn’t it?" Lu Youxi explained, "I’d like to recruit from different campuses, but we’re short on manpower. Big companies send lots of people to recruit across multiple campuses. Our company only has three people; how can we split them?"

"Of course, we’ll start primarily with Jing University. Besides, our university has so many talents; isn’t that enough for our recruitment?" Lu Youxi stated.

"Jing University does have many talents, but the problem is whether they would be interested in us," Ji Deyi wondered, "Every spring, many major corporations come to the job fair at our school. Most graduates aim for those top industry companies. Little Pink Book, a newly established company with only three people, all of whom are freshmen; who would come to us?"

Pei Jingyuan: "..."

He had been so enthusiastic.

But hearing Ji Deyi put it like that, why did it sound so unreliable?

If it weren’t for his passion for the field, even he wouldn’t consider joining Little Pink Book if he saw the recruitment announcement.

"We are not hiring graduates; we can’t have high hopes for students above senior year," Lu Youxi admitted, aware of the reality that seniors might not even be willing to join, not to mention postgraduate students.

"Our target at this stage is juniors," Lu Youxi said, "By the second semester of junior year, they actually begin to look for internships, but with a whole senior year ahead, it’s not easy for them to find internships."

"With seniors and recent graduates competing with them, the juniors’ position is awkward, and they have little competitive strength," Lu Youxi explained, "Yet, juniors already have a considerable amount of knowledge and skills. Unless they pursue further studies, their skills are usually sufficient for regular jobs."

"Our main technical expertise still relies on you two; any additional hires are for support. If we can recruit talent, it’s our gain; otherwise, ordinary juniors are enough for us. Moreover, we’re not talking about average university students; juniors from Jing University are definitely up to standard."
