Chapter 264: Chapter 264: Don’t You Think We Are a Shell Company?
Since last night, Zhou Shuyan had been constantly talking about "husband and wife," which caused Lu Youxi’s mindset to subtly change without her realizing it.
After parting with Zhou Shuyan, Lu Youxi went straight to the internet café.
"Boss, how did the talk with the school go?" Pei Jingyuan asked.
Since the establishment of their company, Pei Jingyuan and Ji Deyi had completely turned the place into their office.
They would come over as soon as they had no classes.
"We’ve reached an agreement, and the same goes for the restaurant I’ll be starting. It’s a partnership with the school," Lu Youxi said with a smile.
"Woah, so not only the internet café’s manager but even the restaurant’s staff will be Jing University students?" Pei Jingyuan exclaimed, "I’ve always wondered, will people come? Those are Jing University students we’re talking about. They can make a decent amount tutoring, and it’s easier work. Would they come do manual labor? Being a net manager is one thing, but wait staff in a restaurant—I’m afraid many wouldn’t want to."
"Those who are willing to come, will come. If I can’t find anyone, I’ll recruit externally," Lu Youxi said, laughing. "Those who are really struggling at home won’t be choosy about work. Take me, for example, if I hadn’t made money from stock trading, I wouldn’t have even been able to afford tuition. I would’ve come to work at the restaurant."
"Yeah, where are there so many jobs that are just right?" Ji Deyi chimed in from the side. "Don’t look at Jing University students and think they’re something special. They have no competitive edge until they graduate. Especially freshmen and sophomores who haven’t learned much yet. Companies hiring interns wouldn’t go for them. With tons of graduates able to work full-time, how could companies do charitable work by hiring students, then arrange work hours around their class schedules? There just aren’t that many good things out there."
"Then there’s tutoring," Ji Deyi continued. "At first, I really looked for this kind of work, thinking that I was a Jing University student—with my background, from elementary to high school, who couldn’t I teach?"
"But only when I actually started looking did I realize that parents who are serious about their kids’ studies have a lot of faith in a teacher’s experience. They all want those with experience, those who have taught successfully. Those teachers have certificates galore, they’re formal education graduates, they know how to teach children. Plus, teachers from schools run their own tutoring classes in private. The competition is fierce in the home tutoring market, and it’s not our turn to play."
"Parents think that we university students, even those from Jing University, can certainly show kids how to solve problems and work out answers. But when it comes to teaching the child how to tackle similar problems in the future, how to apply the principle elsewhere, that’s uncertain. Being able to solve problems doesn’t mean you can teach others." Ji Deyi explained, "So really, when you’re looking for part-time work, you’ll find out there aren’t that many jobs that are a good fit. It’s about whether you can endure hardship and aren’t afraid of getting tired."
"Tutoring jobs aren’t unavailable, there are definitely people willing to hire us university students, but the ratio is quite low; it’s indeed a case of more monks than porridge."
"So, like what the boss is doing, offering work and arranging timings around our class schedules, and providing a work contract that gives legal protection, is already really good," Ji Deyi said.
"True," Pei Jingyuan nodded, "hadn’t realized it wasn’t easy for you guys either."
Ji Deyi: "..."
What a thing to say.
Lu Youxi walked behind the internet café’s counter and operated the computer for a moment, printing out two pieces of paper.
One read "Little Pink Book Technology Co., Ltd. (Please go upstairs)."
The other read "Little Pink Book Technology Co., Ltd."
Ji Deyi: "..."
Pei Jingyuan: "..."
Was this their company’s signage?
So casual?
"Boss, what if real customers come by, won’t they think we are a shell company?" Pei Jingyuan couldn’t help asking.
Lu Youxi was also somewhat embarrassed, "I’ve been too busy lately and haven’t yet found the time to make a proper sign. I’ll get one done when I’m free."
"This one... will just have to do for now," Lu Youxi said somewhat sheepishly, holding the two freshly printed A4 papers.
She stuck the one that read "Please go upstairs" at the staircase entrance.
The second she applied to the door of the office where Pei Jingyuan and Ji Deyi were located at the end of the corridor on the second floor.
Seeing this made it feel quite rudimentary...
Lu Youxi thought to herself, and then instructed Pei Jingyuan and Ji Deyi to arrange their duty schedules properly and to get some good rest; afterward, she headed home first.
"Are you staying here tonight?" Liu Yushu asked, "Or heading back to the apartment?"
Today happened to be Friday.
Lu Youxi used to stay at home.
Later, she pretended to go back to the apartment with Zhou Shuyan, but actually, she would return to the university.
However, no matter what, Liu Yushu and Lu Zhenguo always took for granted that Lu Youxi wouldn’t stay at the university on Fridays.
So they didn’t even consider asking her whether she would return to the university.
Lu Youxi suddenly found herself in a dilemma.
To say she would return to the university, in all honesty, she was somewhat reluctant.
Last night, she had formally opened up to Zhou Shuyan, and although they even had a marriage certificate, they had actually skipped the dating step.
Now they were truly entering the dating phase.
After getting through classes, and with the weekend ahead, she honestly didn’t feel like parting from Zhou Shuyan.
And just to take off without Zhou Shuyan, Lu Youxi felt that it wasn’t quite appropriate.
Yet to say she would go back to the apartment, that would leave only her and Zhou Shuyan together.
However, the apartment at least had two floors and ample space.
If they were to sleep here, the two would be in her tiny room.
Lu Youxi was already nervous; now that she and Zhou Shuyan had breached a certain barrier and even kissed, she was even more so.
Liu Yushu, not getting an answer from Lu Youxi, turned to look at Zhou Shuyan.
Zhou Shuyan, however, said, "I’ll follow Youxi’s wishes."
Liu Yushu thought to herself that Zhou Shuyan being so compliant with his wife was really quite impressive, so she turned to Lu Youxi with a beaming smile.
After contemplating, Lu Youxi thought that Zhou Shuyan was still a gentleman, one who valued propriety.
Even if they lived alone in the apartment, Zhou Shuyan would probably, just like last time, sleep on the sofa downstairs by himself.
Considering this, it really was better than staying here.
Here, she would already feel bad about letting Zhou Shuyan sleep on the floor.
But if he was to squeeze onto that single bed with her, she wouldn’t be able to sleep at all.
After all, she didn’t sleep last night, and she was nodding off in class today.
So, Lu Youxi said, "We’ll go back to the apartment."
"Okay!" Liu Yushu happily agreed.
Indeed their affection was good, they wanted more time alone together.
Zhou Shuyan, however, was unexpectedly taken aback as he looked at Lu Youxi; how could this young girl suddenly dare to be alone with him in the apartment?
But then again, it had been a long while since Zhou Shuyan last visited that apartment.
Luckily, he had rented the place and arranged people to clean it regularly.
He heard that Zhou Xueyi had pulled his staff out recently.
