Chapter 242: He Seemed to See Lu Youxi Plucking a Few Wool Strands from Jing University Again
Chapter 242: Chapter 242: He Seemed to See Lu Youxi Plucking a Few Wool Strands from Jing University Again
Coincidentally, on the very day that the company registration was completed, Lu Youxi received a call from Chengzhou Technology.
They had approved her application and scheduled an interview with her.
It was truly a case of double happiness.
Lu Youxi came to the internet cafe, where Ji Deyi and Pei Jingyuan were already present.
Lu Youxi even began to wonder if Pei Jingyuan had stopped attending school altogether.
"Pei Jingyuan, don’t tell me you’ve quit school, have you?" Lu Youxi asked seriously.
"Not at all, but I do choose to attend only my major courses," Pei Jingyuan explained. "The thing is, I’m not really interested in the other classes, and most of the content in my major is stuff I already know. So I only attend the ones where I might learn something new."
"But to be honest, there’s really not much left to learn. The level of our university’s professors in my major isn’t even up to par with mine."
Lu Youxi: "..."
"So what are you going to do? You can’t just stop studying, right? Your skills still need improvement," Lu Youxi expressed her concern. She couldn’t afford to let a talent like him decline on her watch.
However, Lu Youxi also suddenly understood why Pei Jingyuan failed to upgrade his diploma in her previous life.
He had spent all his time on subjects he was interested in and neglected the rest.
He was bound to fail his exams.
Pei Jingyuan: "..."
Ji Deyi patted Pei Jingyuan’s shoulder and said proudly, "Told you so. You shouldn’t show off in front of the boss—she doesn’t think your skills are up to scratch yet!"
Pei Jingyuan: "..."
Since his school didn’t have much to offer him educationally, Pei Jingyuan was indeed getting a bit arrogant and anxious.
It just didn’t occur to him that Lu Youxi’s remarks today would snap him out of it.
When Pei Jingyuan later became the genius everyone talked about, he was still grateful for Lu Youxi’s words that day, which had made him realize his attitude was off.
"But to be honest, it’s possible that your school’s teaching level really can’t meet your needs anymore," Ji Deyi said. "It would be great if you could attend classes at Jing University."
"You think I don’t want to?" Pei Jingyuan sighed. "I even regret why I was so biased in my subjects during high school."
"Ji Deyi, aren’t you and Pei Jingyuan from different majors?" Lu Youxi suddenly said.
"Yeah," Ji Deyi nodded.
"How about you record the content of your major classes for Pei Jingyuan to watch?" suggested Lu Youxi. "I’ll buy a small DV camera that won’t be conspicuous on a desk. If a teacher really asks, you can just say it’s for reviewing after class. We’re not going to put the recordings online, so there shouldn’t be any problems."
"Really?" Pei Jingyuan looked at Ji Deyi with hopeful eyes. "I’ve been dreaming of attending lectures by Jing University professors."
"No problem at all!" Ji Deyi initially worried about not having the equipment to record.
But with Lu Youxi providing the DV, there was no issue left.
"If you have any questions or don’t understand something after watching, you can ask me, and I’ll consult our teachers," Ji Deyi stated.
"And you," Lu Youxi turned to Ji Deyi, "can’t fall behind on your major either. As one of the bosses of Little Pink Book and a key tech member, there will be more and more tech talents in our company in the future, and both you and Pei Jingyuan will have to lead and develop them. We can’t have the bosses being less skilled than their employees."
Ji Deyi felt the pressure, "I’ll definitely work hard."
"By the way, boss, why did you come back today?" Pei Jingyuan asked.
It wasn’t even Friday.
"I’ve finished registering the company, and I also received a call from Chengzhou. Our application has been approved, and we’ll have the interview at Chengzhou Technology next Wednesday. Whether we can get support from them or even work together with them depends on how that day goes," Lu Youxi finally remembered to share the good news.
Pei Jingyuan and Ji Deyi jumped three feet high in excitement. "So, should we celebrate properly?"
Lu Youxi nodded. "I was thinking, now that our company is set up, we’re going to get busier, especially if we manage to work with Chengzhou. They will surely offer some technical advice, and you should focus on Little Pink Book instead of being internet cafe managers."
"So, I plan to talk with the school leaders to see if we can get some students who need work-study programs to take on part-time work in the cafe," Lu Youxi planned. "Although there are some work-study options at our university, they are limited and many students still need part-time jobs but can’t find them on campus, so they look for work outside."
"In that case, it makes sense for students from our school to work part-time at the cafe," Lu Youxi concluded. "Whether they’re computer science majors or not, they are all university students, and they should have some understanding of computers. Besides, an internet cafe manager doesn’t need to know too much; a little knowledge is sufficient. And if there’s a problem with the machines, they’ll have you guys."
Ji Deyi: "..."
He felt as if Lu Youxi was shearing a few strands of wool off Jing University again.
After pondering for a moment, Lu Youxi said, "The property certificate for the company registration is temporarily the internet cafe. I don’t have spare cash to get an office right now, so you two will have to make do with working in the cafe for the time being. Once I have the funds, we’ll get a proper office space."
Ji Deyi and Pei Jingyuan looked at each other.
It all still felt like a dream to them.
Coming to work at an internet cafe, and then suddenly setting up a company?
They were now company bosses?
They were just freshman!
And to think they might even have an office to work in!
Although it didn’t exist yet, both drifted into a daze, realizing that they had come so far without even noticing.
They still felt like it was surreal to be there.
And all of it, was being driven by Lu Youxi.
She never stopped pushing them forward, step by step.
"It’s not hard; I think working at the internet cafe is pretty good," Pei Jingyuan said. "I’ve already gotten used to it."
Ji Deyi was too dazed to speak and just nodded.
He agreed with what Pei Jingyuan had said.
"I’m planning to convert one of the rooms upstairs into our temporary office by removing a bed and moving the computer Pei Jingyuan uses for work," Lu Youxi proposed. With that and the machine already there, two computers should suffice for Pei Jingyuan and Ji Deyi; if not, we could always move another one up—the internet cafe may lack many things, but not computers.
As for Lu Youxi herself, she had a laptop, which was enough.
"When the time comes, you two can work upstairs. It will offer better privacy and keep you from being disturbed by customers. The only downside might be the soundproofing, which you’ll have to put up with for now."
