Lu Weixi hadn’t turned around nor responded but waited for Qin Zhiyou to get up and close the door before she turned, her eyes filled with worry.

After Qin Zhiyou left, Mrs. Lu was sitting on the living room sofa, arms crossed, her expression stern, her lips downturned as if ready to scold him.

“Who’s your mom? Get it straight!”

Qin Zhiyou nodded, “About us getting back together, I’ve talked to Xixi too. We’re still single, whether she marries me or not in the future, I will take responsibility for her and the child. Even if we don’t get married, I can help ensure the child is safely born and raised.”

As he spoke, Qin Zhiyou strode over and sat on the sofa opposite. Mrs. Lu, already displeased with him, was even more irked seeing him make himself at home. Mrs. Lu scoffed disapprovingly, Qin Zhiyou calmly continued, “I grew up in a family where my parents fought constantly. My dad had someone else when I was very young. If Xixi marries me, I’ll make sure not to repeat that, not to have another family outside, and I will fulfill my duties as a father.”

All this talk about the child. Mrs. Lu wasn’t against having a grandchild, but at this stage, with the child still just an embryo, she was naturally more concerned about her daughter. Qin Zhiyou spoke only about how he would do anything for this child, insistent on making his daughter keep it. But what about her daughter? Had he said anything?

Mrs. Lu huffed heavily, “You want to marry my daughter? Don’t even think about it! You want the child, fine. The child will take my surname, Lu, not Qin!
