My Formula 1 System
Chapter 445 - 445: Machine Man

Luca's building of choice in Switzerland was a reclusive, luxurious chalet crouched within a very restful and motionless alpine village called Saanen.

Gstaad was another alpine district nearby, more popular to the world because of its greater luxe and opulence. It was clearly organised for the kind of tourism that aligned with Luca's nature, but it featured a more palatial, exhibition-style space of living.

Saanen was quite different from the bustling Gstaad. Saanen was a haven, a stronghold that served better as a place of refuge rather than as a tourist attraction. It was tranquil, with historic streets paved in cobblestones and traditional chalet architecture, wooden buildings with sloping roofs and overhanging eaves.

Luca's own chalet was average in size, with four rooms on the inside. It was a seamless blend of upgraded ruralism and modern comfort, featuring thick wooden beams, a wide veranda, and windows that framed the surrounding landscape that was a fresh mix of snow and green. Mostly green, considering the time of the year. But the snow was creeping in, and soon enough, it would dominate.

Luca hadn't purchased this property, and thus, didn't own it. Even though he liked the chalet, owning a property in Switzerland felt like a stretch at such a young age. It seemed more appropriate as a thought for later in life, when aging and retirement would slowly start to set in.

He had secured the chalet via a long-term lease through a discreet arrangement with a local estate agency. The agreement granted him full occupancy of the chalet for an entire year, providing him with uninterrupted solitude to focus on his rehabilitation, healing, and personal reflection.

This arrangement guaranteed both privacy and stability—two essentials for his recovery journey—without having to deal with the complexities of ownership. So, for the next 12 months, he was practically the owner of the chalet and could enter or exit at his will, anytime he wished.

Luca had a quiet feeling that he might eventually be tempted to renew the lease. And without even realising it, he could end up owning this property within the next five years.

[SYSTEM ONLINE]

[Host should begin Daily Routine]

Daily Routine was back, and Luca had returned to his matrix, now coupled with the rehabilitation program that had been assigned to him, along with the workout program he personally intended to accomplish.

The system had detected a wild shift in the surroundings and, in response, began to task the host with spontaneously bizarre Daily Quests. Examples included: lying flat on a lake for 15 minutes, or climbing an 18-foot-tall tree without equipment.

The insane commissions left Luca stunned, but despite their randomness, he managed to accomplish most of them. A few, however, he fell short of completing.

After almost two weeks, Luca believed he had begun to feel like himself again, reviving the enthusiasm that had once defined him. Within this span, he had acquired 2 Catalysts and 1 Wrench, still steadily stacking his Inventory.

[Current Inventory:

—Catalysts: 4

—Wrenches: 3

[ACTIVITY: COLD WATER IMMERSION & EXPOSURE TRAINING]

[EQUIPMENT: ICE BATH / COLD TUB / DEEP BASIN FILLED WITH CHILLED WATER (6–10°C)]

[Host will submerge forearms and upper torso into the cold water while remaining still and composed, maintaining a steady breath cycle to regulate stress response and oxygen uptake.]

[This will be done for 3–5 minutes per session, aiming to reduce inflammation, optimize circulatory efficiency, and stimulate nerve feedback throughout the upper body.]

Luca began by dipping his hands into the basin in front of him, filled with glacial water. He started gently, easing in with just his fingertips. They numbed instantly upon contact with the unforgiving cold, making Luca wince. But he didn't stop. He continued to lower his arms slowly until the freezing water claimed his forearms.

After that, he used the balls of his feet to push his body further forward, enough to submerge his torso as well. The torso included his chest, lower neck, and upper back—all parts where the inferno had once marked him lethally.

He stopped submerging when he felt the frigid surface of the water touch his chin. The burn scars then tightened like coiled wire, and a full-body shiver coursed through him. He almost lost his balance.

However, Luca listened to the system's instructions and remained still, using his heavy breath as an anchor.

At the final mark for the day's session, he slowly lifted himself out of the basin and studied how the burn areas still did their best to resist water with moisture trailing off in shaky lines. The muscles in that region ached, but astonishingly, Luca felt more alive on the burn side than on the good side.

[ACTIVITY: CONTROLLED CLIMB]

[EQUIPMENT: VERTICAL ROPE / CLIMBING WALL WITH ASSISTED ANCHOR / SUPPORT HARNESS IF NEEDED]

[Host will execute vertical ascension using arms and core engagement to pull upward in a controlled manner, focusing on precision grip, breath synchronization, and muscular balance.]

[This will be performed thrice weekly, at low to moderate height, to encourage core strength development, scar tissue extension, and neuromuscular synchronicity.]

There were a few equipments—not plenty—but Luca had made the required ones available for the Controlled Climb activity. Mallow had gotten them.

On the other hand, Amir was coming to Switzerland too. And unlike the others who were in Gstaad, just two miles away, he was going to stay right here in the chalet with Luca and assist him through the rehabilitation process. He would also be bringing more equipment.

In the meantime... the rope hung steady from the steel beam just beyond the chalet's northern edge, its top frosted but the length below dry enough to grip.

Luca stood at its base with his eyes fixed on the midpoint ribbon he had marked earlier. He was shirtless despite the chill, and his skin looked pale—caramel around the burn areas that now revealed the raw truth of healing scars.

He wiggled both hands briefly, then reached up to grab the steel beam. His right hand went first, then the left followed, dragging the blotched and damaged part of his body upwards like tearing through tough meat.

Once in position, he began to pull himself, climbing upward to exhaust the reps the system had assigned.

[Ding!]

[Daily Quest has been issued!]

[-·- SPLIT AND STACK -·-]

[OBJECTIVE: Prepare 1 full stack of firewood (cut, split, and neatly arranged)]

[DURATION: Complete before 5:00pm]

[This will strengthen your forearms, enhance core and shoulder symmetry, and develop muscular rhythm and breath control — essential for maintaining mechanical consistency under pressure and boosting upper body resilience.]

Still shirtless and looking like he had dipped one part of his body into an Easter chocolate bowl, Luca grabbed the handle of an axe and strode into the nearby woods.

On his way, he paused and wondered if it was even legal to cut down any tree, no matter how small. Fortunately, he saw a stump—the remains of an already felled tree—and he decided to harvest it instead.

He focused his mind and immediately began to work. He would lift the axe above his head and swing it downward, each powerful strike driven by his heightened Strength Attribute. The motion stretched the blotched skin across his arm and torso with every swing, the scars flexing but not tearing as he methodically chopped, split, and stacked the firewood until the task was complete.

[You have received (1) Catalyst]

This was what he kept doing day after day. One day, he received a quest to break and extract a slab of frozen stream ice without fracturing it. Not only that, the system required that he carry it uphill, the goal being cold tolerance and grip effectivity.

Whenever Sara and the rest came to visit, they would be surprised to see him heading out to accomplish some venturesome task they hadn't even heard of before. One day, Luca even told them his objective that day was to spy an alpine fox from noon to dusk.

What truly surprised the gang the most was how quickly Luca was healing without the help of any advanced medical intervention he hadn't received since Spain. The only measures Luca was undergoing now were simply ointments, basic balms, cold therapy, light massages, and the occasional application of medicinal gel.

The rate of the healing was debatable, leaving them both awed and fascinated. Sara, Mallow, Vance, and Manuela now understood that Luca wasn't just any normal 20-year-old, and he definitely wasn't your average F1 driver.

By the time the Azerbaijan Grand Prix was completed, the blotched skin had turned completely pale brown, making Luca's skin appear like a soft cream color. There wasn't anymore discoloration or unbalanced pigmentation; the skin had crusted, and had begun to soften, slowly taking its time to blend back to its original appearance.

Although the neck and upper chest region was healing faster than the left side of his face, there was still significant progress there. However, Luca's left eye seemed to have permanently grown lighter in color. Brown on the right, and light brown on the left now.

He looked at his hair in the mirror, and after a long while of contemplation, he decided to cut it.

This wasn't going to be the usual haircut with scissors and meticulous hands alone, this was going to be an absolute shave with a clipper. Luca intended to wear a buzz cut from now onwards.

To get the cut, he needed to drive to the city—Lausanne—which was more than 30 miles away. He got a rented ride and embarked on the long journey, lodging in a hotel afterwards.

The hotel had a barber salon, so he patronized them without delay and got the buzz cut, which he believed suited him exceptionally well.

Luca thanked the barber, who was still recovering from the bewilderment that Luca Rennick was in his shop. The Azerbaijan Grand Prix was currently underway, and here was the Mazerunner… in Switzerland?!

Before Luca exited the salon, the barber uttered a suggestion that halted him in his tracks.

"I have a friend who barely escaped a bear attack with claw scratches on his forearm," he said. "But he masked it with a nice tattoo—and it looks great on him. I know it's not the same situation for you, but you should consider it…"
