Chapter 86: Chapter 86 Why is it so empty?

Ruby’s lips curved slightly, and her eyes glistened with interest. "Alright, I’ll come," she said, pushing off the frame. "Let me grab my purse."

Karl, who had been quietly standing nearby, almost choked on air. Adrian, too, stiffened, his heart pounding. He exchanged a panicked glance with Karl.

The taller witch panicked as well and quickly stepped forward. "No, no, Miss Ruby! You don’t need to bring anything. Just come with us, please. Whatever you need, we’ll provide it. But we need to leave now—it’s urgent!"

Ruby paused mid-step, her brow raised in suspicion. "You’re really in a rush, aren’t you?"

"Yes, very!" the shorter witch added, wringing her hands. "We swear, everything will be taken care of for you. Just please, come with us!"

Ruby shrugged nonchalantly, glancing back at Karl and others. "Well, I guess I’ll be back later. Don’t wait up for me," she said, walking out the door without a second thought.

"Bye, wife!" Milo shouted from behind, his voice bright and cheerful. Ruby glanced back at him, a small smile tugging at her lips. She gave him a brief nod before turning her gaze to Julian.

Julian stood near the doorway, his expression conflicted. Slowly, he raised a hand to wave at her, his movements hesitant as if he wasn’t sure what else to do. Ruby’s nod toward him and then she turned away stepping out with the witches.

Levi and his mother, Grace, peeked cautiously from behind a neighboring house, their eyes fixed on Ruby as she walked away with the two witches. The witches’ official-looking attire didn’t escape Grace’s sharp gaze.

"Aren’t those the witches who work at the government office? The ones who process those PIC cards?" Grace muttered, frowning deeply. She always prided herself on remembering faces, especially of anyone who seemed important. Her suspicion only grew. "Why is Ruby going with them?"

"Mom!" Levi whispered urgently, his panic evident. "What if Ruby got a government job? She might have been an alcoholic before, but don’t forget, she actually graduated from school!"

Grace’s expression twisted into something even uglier. "If she got a job, Julian will only become more arrogant. Look at him now—he doesn’t even acknowledge us anymore."

Levi clenched his fists, his panic turning to frustration. "I can’t imagine Julian looking down on me with that smug face, Mom. We have to do something!"

Grace’s eyes narrowed as she thought hard, her mind racing. "We won’t let that happen," she muttered. "We’ll find a way to deal with this Ruby and put Julian back in his place."

Levi nodded fervently, determination and jealousy burning in his eyes. "Yes, we need to act fast, or Julian think he have won."

"Here we are," the shorter witch said as they stopped in an open, nearly deserted area just nearby Ruby’s house. Ruby noticed an elegant Victorian car parked under a twisted tree. The black and gold detailing on the vehicle shimmered faintly under the sunlight, giving it a mysterious charm.

"Please, take a seat, Miss Ruby," the shorter witch added, sliding into the driver’s seat with ease.

Ruby’s eyes gleamed with interest as she studied the car.

She climbed into the back seat, her fingers lightly brushing the cool leather.

As soon as she settled in, she opened the window and let the breeze rush through.

The taller witch, who had remained silent for most of the time, cast a meaningful glance at Ruby from the corner of her eye.

With a soft hum, the car came to life. Slowly, it lifted off the ground, the wheels turning effortlessly as the vehicle began to ascend.

The wind gently blew through Ruby’s hair as she leaned back, her eyes sparkling with delight. Watching the houses and trees shrink below, she smiled.

The car sped through the sky, cutting through the air with grace. Ruby’s eyes sparkled with amazement as they ascended higher, reaching the clouds. She leaned slightly toward the window, her gaze fixed on the fluffy whiteness that passed by, as if she could reach out and touch it.

What always surprised her most was the lack of any pressure or discomfort despite the altitude.

Within fifteen minutes, the car started to descend, and the view below became livelier. They were approaching a crowded market.

Flying ecto-bikes zipped around in all directions, creating a chaotic yet fascinating scene.

The shorter witch, who was driving, focused hard, her face serious as she guided the car through the air traffic. She maneuvered the Victorian car smoothly, weaving through the swarm of bikes and other flying vehicles. Every now and then, she glanced at Ruby in the rearview mirror, her expression thoughtful.

The taller witch turned her head slightly. "We’re almost there, Miss Ruby. Just a few more minutes."

"It’s alright," Ruby replied calmly, glancing at the taller witch before turning her attention back to the view outside the window. She couldn’t help but admit to herself that she had thoroughly enjoyed the ride.

The car soon came to a halt in the parking area of the government office, situated on the far side of the building.

"Please, Miss Ruby, come with us," the taller witch said politely, stepping out of the car and holding the door open for her. "Let’s see if you can help us with the issue."

Ruby gave a slight nod, stepping out and straightening her clothes. Her eyes scanned the area briefly.

Ruby followed them through the arched doorway of the government office. Just as they entered, her eyes caught sight of a wooden board propped up near the entrance. Written in bold letters were the words: "Office Closed Today."

Her steps slowed for a moment as she frowned at the sign, her curiosity piqued.

Yet, she said nothing,as she trailed behind the two witches.

Inside, the atmosphere felt strange—too quiet. The usual hum of activity one would expect from a government building was absent. The spacious lobby, with its high ceilings and grand chandeliers, was eerily empty. The only sounds were their footsteps echoing off the floors and the occasional creak of the old wooden doors as they moved deeper into the building.

"Why is it so empty?" Ruby asked
