My five ghostly husbands
Chapter 60 Pillu

Chapter 60: Chapter 60 Pillu

Outside, Angeline stood holding a bag, her face tense and uneasy.

"What’s wrong?" Ruby asked, noticing the worry etched across Angeline’s expression.

"Can I come inside?" Angeline asked softly.

Ruby nodded without hesitation, stepping aside to let her in. "Of course, come in."

As Angeline walked in, Ruby couldn’t help but notice how tense she was. Something was definitely on her mind.

Ruby gestured for Angeline to sit on the sofa, her expression neutral. Angeline moved stiffly, her body language tense, as if the weight of whatever was troubling her was too much to bear.

"Care to explain what’s wrong with you?" Ruby asked, crossing her legs and placing her hand thoughtfully on her chin, her eyes studying Angeline closely.

Angeline hesitated, looking down at her hands for a moment before speaking. "Do you remember the gorgeous ghost at the restaurant?" she asked, her voice tinged with something between frustration and sadness.

Ruby’s eyes flickered with recognition. "Yes," she replied, her memory clear. She remembered the man who had caused trouble while she was trying to enjoy her meal. He had been rude and far too persistent, interrupting her peace. Annoying, to say the least.

Angeline sighed deeply. "I met him today," she continued, her tone becoming quieter. "And... he actually has someone else in his life."

After saying Angeline then opened her bag and pulled out cool, sweet drinks. It was still hot outside, even at night, and the chilled beverages seemed like a small but welcome relief.

She handed Ruby one of the drinks, taking a sip from her own as she let the coolness soothe her frustration. "It just hit me so suddenly. I never expected it. He looked so happy with her... like they were in love."

"So what does that matter to you?" Ruby asked, her gaze shifting to the bottle of juice in her hand. The light pink liquid sparkled under the light, and she took a sip. The sweetness danced on her tongue, refreshing and cool, as the chilled drink slid down her throat. The sensation left her feeling a comforting coolness spreading through her body.

This is amazing, she thought, savoring another sip.

"I liked him," Angeline admitted sadly, her voice trembling slightly.

Ruby gave Angeline a sharp, focused look. "To be honest, I think it’s just your attraction to his beauty," she said, her tone blunt but not unkind. She leaned forward, her eyes narrowing. "You shouldn’t be that weak. Some mere handsome ghost shouldn’t have the power to sway your emotions like this!"

Ruby sat up straighter, uncrossing her legs, her expression firm. "You have six husbands already, Angeline. Six! And from what I’ve seen, they’re all handsome, polite, and incredibly friendly. Tell me, what don’t they have that this random ghost does? You’re married to some genuinely good ghost."

Angeline looked at Ruby, her lips parting as if to argue, but Ruby didn’t stop. "You need to stop thinking about others when you already have so much. It’s unfair to them and to yourself. And for the record," Ruby added with a hint of a smile, "I’ve started seeing your husbands as my brothers. So stop this mess before it gets worse."

Angeline blinked, her emotions shifting between embarrassment and guilt. Ruby’s straightforward words were like a wake-up call, cutting through her confusion.

Ruby took another sip of her drink, leaning back slightly. "You deserve happiness, but it’s already right there in front of you, Angeline. Don’t let some fleeting attraction ruin what you have."

The room fell silent for a moment, Angeline’s face reflecting deep thought. Ruby didn’t press further.

Ruby finished her drink and looked at Angeline, her gaze firm yet uncertain. "Hope you understand what I’m trying to say," she said softly.

Angeline nodded her head, looking down.

Meanwhile, Angeline’s husbands and Ruby’s husbands walked outside, heading toward a larger wooden house at the far end of the lane. It was bigger than the other houses, with warm light spilling out of its windows.

"Let’s go," Kenji said, leading the way. Everyone nodded in agreement, and Max rang the doorbell.

A moment later, the door swung open, revealing a green-haired ghost with sharp black eyes. His smile was elegant, but there was a faint air of arrogance in his demeanor.

"Please come inside," the ghost said, stepping aside with exaggerated pride to let them in. The living room was cozy but dominated by a 16-inch Soulstream placed at the center, clearly the main attraction.

"So, you four are new here?" the ghost asked as he settled into a single sofa with a smug expression. "If you don’t know me yet, I’m Pillu. My wife works for the government," he added, throwing in the detail as though it was meant to impress. He gestured toward the mat on the floor. "You all can sit there. I’ll turn on the Soulstream for you."

"Thank you," Julian said with excitement, already settling down.

"I thought you might not have seen a Soulstream before, being new and all," Pillu continued, smiling proudly as if doing them an enormous favor.

Adrian, however, was quick to pick up on the subtle arrogance in Pillu’s tone. His sharp instincts warned him that this was a man who enjoyed flaunting his possessions and status. He kept quiet but remained wary.

Milo, on the other hand, was too excited to care. His wide eyes stayed glued to the screen as Pillu powered on the Soulstream.

Karl felt the same uneasiness as Adrian, his narrowed eyes studying Pillu with suspicion. There was something about the man that rubbed him the wrong way.

Julian, oblivious to the hidden meanings in Pillu’s words, was just happy to finally experience a Soulstream.

Kenji broke the silence, introducing everyone politely. "This is Pillu. And, Pillu, these are Karl, Adrian, Julian, and Milo."

Pillu nodded at them all before turning back to his precious Soulstream. "Can you pass me that remote? No, actually, just change the channel," Pillu said, gesturing at Karl.

Karl glanced down and saw the remote lying near him. He was confused about why someone would place such an expensive device carelessly on the floor. Hesitantly, he picked it up, studying the buttons. It looked complicated, and he wasn’t sure how it worked.
