Chapter 188: Chapter 188 Arrested (1)

Suddenly, the air felt alive as two Ecto-bikes and an old red car landed nearby.

The car’s black letters gleamed under the ghostly streetlights—CIVIL PROTECTION FORCE.

The crowd fell dead silent.

From the vehicles, several officers stepped out, their uniforms neat, their eyes sharp as they surveyed the scene.

Levi’s eyes lit up instantly.

A desperate grin stretched across his lips, and before anyone could stop him—

"OFFICER! SAVE ME!!!"

His voice cracked as he threw himself to the ground, gripping his hands together in fake despair.

"THIS WITCH TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME AND IS REFUSING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!!!" Levi wailed, crawling toward the nearest officer.

His fake tears dripped onto the ground, his body shaking as he put on his best ’victim’ performance.

The officers witches dressed in dark uniforms paused, exchanging unreadable glances.

But Ruby...

Ruby almost laughed.

The moment her eyes landed on the familiar officer standing at the front of the group, she had to fight to keep her expression neutral.

Oh, this was about to be fun.

Julian, beside her, let out a quiet breath of relief.

Meanwhile—

Karl immediately sprang into action.

The moment Levi finished speaking, Karl launched himself forward, throwing his arms up.

"NO, OFFICER, DON’T BELIEVE HIM!!!"

He rushed forward, gripping one officer’s sleeve, his face contorting with exaggerated horror.

"WE HAVE TOLD YOU WHAT HE DID TO MY WIFE!!!"

Then Karl’s body suddenly went stiff.

His lips trembled. His shoulders shook.

And then—

"IF—IF MY WIFE HADN’T SAVED HERSELF—" Karl’s voice cracked.

His breathing hitched.

"EOWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO—"

The sudden inhuman wailing sound tore through the silence, making several officers flinch.

"I CAN’T EVEN DESCRIBE IT!!! WOOWOWOEOEOEOE—!!!"

Karl collapsed onto his knees, sobbing hysterically.

Levi, who had expected full sympathy from the officers, instead turned pale.

His fake cries weakened.

The lead officer, a tall witch with a sharp gaze, stepped forward, looking down at Levi, whose swollen, red face had lost all its confidence.

"You’re Levi, right?" Her voice was cold and authoritative.

Levi barely had time to react before she delivered the words that sealed his fate.

"You are under arrest."

"We found clear evidence against you—plotting against an innocent, illegally purchasing harmful drugs, and mentally abusing your fiancée."

At her words, the crowd finally noticed a witch standing quietly among them.

She had a simple, honest face—her dark eyes holding a hint of red, filled with cold detachment as she stared at Levi without a shred of emotion.

She was Levi’s fiancée.

A murmur of shock passed through the onlookers.

Levi’s eyes widened in horror.

"What nonsense!" He jumped to his feet, his voice shaking. "I don’t believe it! Officer, don’t trust them—I’M INNOCENT!"

But no one listened.

One of the officers stepped forward, grabbing his arms, and in one swift motion—

SNAP.

Levi’s wrists were locked into cold handcuffs.

"DON’T TRY TO RUN."

BANG!

A loud gunshot fired into the sky, silencing the entire street.

Levi flinched.

But the gunshot wasn’t for him.

Across the way Lyra and Celeste had been attempting to slip away.

The moment the warning shot rang out, they froze in place.

Cold metal clamped around their wrists as officers swiftly restrained them.

"You two are also under arrest," an officer declared. "For plotting against an innocent and aiding Levi in his immoral acts."

Lyra’s face drained of color. Celeste let out a soft, shaky breath, her head lowering in shame.

Karl, still wiping away fake tears from his earlier performance, grinned widely.

As the officers prepared to drag them away, Ruby suddenly raised a hand.

"Wait."

The firm command made everyone pause.

She turned her attention to Lyra.

Her red eyes gleamed with something unreadable as she took a step forward.

"I never thought you’d be so vicious." Ruby’s voice was eerily calm. "To go this far for revenge—supporting Levi’s lies, helping him ruin my reputation, plotting against me."

Lyra’s face turned red.

With shame. With anger.

But she didn’t deny it.

Instead she spat at Ruby’s feet.

"You took my job!!!" Lyra shouted, her voice dripping with hatred. "Because of YOU, I lost my position!!! And I don’t regret doing this!!!"

The crowd gasped.

Lyra smirked viciously. "And I don’t care what happens, I’ll be bailed out eventually."

SLAP!

The officer standing beside her had slapped her without hesitation.

"Shut your mouth." The officer’s voice was sharp and unforgiving. "You’re not getting out of this so easily."

Ruby, however, didn’t even blink.

She turned to Celeste, her expression completely unreadable.

"And you?" Ruby’s voice was quieter this time. "I don’t understand. I never gave you any reason to hate me. So why betray me like this?"

Celeste’s shoulders shook.

She didn’t look up. Her fingers clenched tightly as she whispered—

"I’m sorry."

Her voice was barely audible.

"Lyra... Lyra is my best friend."

A deep, heavy silence followed.

Ruby’s expression didn’t change. Her face remained emotionless.

And then Levi’s mother screamed.

"NOOOO!! DON’T TAKE MY LITTLE GHOST!!!"

She tried to lunge toward Levi, wailing hysterically, but the officers blocked her path.

The crowd watched in tense silence.

Levi’s father, however he didn’t move. He simply sat on the ground, his hands limp, his eyes hollow.

He looked at his son..the son he had once loved—

And there was no emotion left in his face.

Nothing but empty acceptance.

Levi had destroyed everything and now he would face the consequences.

As the officers began dragging Levi away, his mother suddenly lost all control.

"NOOOOO!!! DON’T TAKE MY LITTLE GHOST!!!"

She screamed.

She lunged forward, shoving past the onlookers, flailing her arms wildly. Tears streamed down her face but unlike Levi’s fake tears, hers were filled with pure, uncontrollable hysteria.

"YOU CAN’T TAKE HIM! HE DID NOTHING WRONG!!!"

She clawed at the officers, gripping Levi’s clothes, pulling with everything she had.

One of the officers tightly gripped her arms, trying to restrain her, but she thrashed violently, kicking at their legs.

"LET HIM GO!! LET HIM GOOOO!!!"

Her hair became disheveled, her dress slipping off her shoulder as she struggled like a madwitch.

"MY BABY!! MY POOR, INNOCENT BABY!!!"
