Chapter 141 Director Sylvia

Chapter 141: Chapter 141 Director Sylvia

Ruby raised her eyebrows, crossing her arms. "Sneaking? I was just curious. If I were a thief, do you think I’d be standing here in plain sight?"

The assistant hesitated, clearly unsure of how to respond. The commotion inside the tent continued, but now Ruby’s attention was focused on this unexpected interruption.

Before she could say anything else, a shadow appeared at the tent’s entrance. A long-haired witch stepped out with a few people, her sharp eyes looking around carefully.

"What’s happening here?" she asked, her voice cold and full of anger.

"Ma’am, ma’am! This unknown witch was roaming around your tent! She might be a thief!" the young assistant exclaimed, pointing at Ruby with a trembling finger.

Ruby raised an eyebrow, her red eyes narrowing at the ghost. She didn’t say anything at first, just stared at him with a calm but intimidating gaze.

The young ghost froze under her stare, his bravado faltering. His lips quivered slightly, but he tried to keep his composure. "D-don’t think of me as some weak ghost!" he stammered, puffing out his chest in an attempt to look tough. "I am the fire! You’ll burn if you come closer!"

Ruby: "..."

His words were shaky, and Ruby could see the fear in his mismatched eyes.

A smirk crept onto her face as she took a small step forward, folding her arms. "Oh? Fire, you say?" Her voice was low, almost teasing, as she tilted her head slightly. "Then why are you the one trembling?"

The young ghost’s confidence crumbled instantly, and he took a step back, clutching his clipboard like it was a shield.

"Enough!" The witch’s sharp voice interrupted the moment. She walked closer, her presence strong and impatient. Her sharp features and piercing gaze immediately drew attention.

"Who are you, and why are you here?" she asked Ruby, her tone cold but curious.

Ruby turned her attention to the witch, unfazed by the tension. "I’m not a thief," she said simply. "I was passing by and overheard your... conversation." She gestured toward the tent.

The Witch’s eyes narrowed. "Eavesdropping now, are we? I don’t have time for nonsense—get lost."

Ruby didn’t budge, her lips curling into a faint smirk. "I’m not here to cause trouble. But if you’re so desperate for ideas, maybe you should try listening instead of yelling."

The director blinked, taken aback by Ruby’s audacity. The assistant gasped softly, looking between Ruby and his boss, his fear momentarily replaced with shock.

For a moment, the witch said nothing, her sharp eyes scanning Ruby’s face as if trying to gauge whether she was worth her time.

"Let’s talk inside," the witch said, her voice firm as she gestured for the others to leave, keeping only a few members of her team behind. Her sharp eyes lingered on Ruby for a moment, a flicker of curiosity crossing her face.

Ruby hesitated but followed her inside. As soon as she stepped into the tent, her heart jumped. The space was packed with large monitors, keyboards, and an array of film-making equipment she hadn’t seen after coming in this world.

Her eyes darted around, taking in the multiple chairs placed neatly in a semi-circle. A few team members were seated, their curious stares fixed on her. The witch took a seat in the center, her presence strong as she crossed her legs and motioned for Ruby to sit as well.

"Don’t worry," the witch said with a faint smile, her tone calmer now. "Have a seat."

Ruby nodded, her movements graceful as she chose a chair opposite the witch. She could still feel the team’s curious eyes following her, but she ignored it, keeping her expression calm and steady.

"I’m Sylvia," the witch finally said, breaking the silence. "Director of this... let’s call it a chaotic project for now." Her tone was filed with frustration, but her introduction carried an air of professionalism.

Ruby relaxed slightly, leaning back in her seat as she listened. Sylvia’s voice was steady, though Ruby could sense the weariness hidden beneath it.

"And you?" Sylvia asked, raising an eyebrow. "Who are you, and why should I give you my time?"

Ruby smirked faintly, her fingers brushing against the edge of her robe. "Name’s Ruby," she replied. "I overheard your... lively conversation outside, and it sounded like you could use some fresh ideas."

Sylvia’s lips twitched into a small smirk of her own. "Is that so?" she said, leaning forward slightly. "Well then, Miss Ruby... I’m all ears."

The team exchanged glances, their interest piqued. Ruby straightened in her chair.

"I also heard your team’s editing was too simple for a sci-fi movie?" Ruby said casually, her red eyes scanning the tent. Some of the team members shifted uncomfortably in their chairs, their expressions clouded with shame.

"You don’t know anything about editing or filmmaking, so don’t come here spouting nonsense!" one witch snapped, her jaw clenched tightly. Her name was Lyra, and Ruby could feel the frustration hiding behind her calm look. It was clear she was already upset, probably because of Sylvia’s earlier scolding.

"Yes, exactly!" Another witch added, her voice sharper than necessary. She leaned forward slightly, glaring at Ruby. "If you don’t know how things work, don’t act like you do. This isn’t as easy as it looks, you know."

Ruby raised an eyebrow but didn’t respond immediately. Instead, she let her gaze drift from one face to another. The air in the tent was tense, the team members exchanging doubtful looks.

"She probably thinks making a sci-fi movie is like scribbling on paper and adding sparkles," Lyra muttered under her breath, loud enough for Ruby to hear.

"Why did you even bring her here?" one of the others whispered to Sylvia, not bothering to hide their skepticism.

Sylvia’s eyes narrowed slightly as she glanced at her team. "I brought her here because I’m tired of dead ends," she said firmly. "And unless you have a better idea, I’d suggest you listen."

The tent fell into an awkward silence, but Ruby could still feel the judgment radiating from several of the witches. She leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms with a calm yet challenging expression.
