My five ghostly husbands
Chapter 106 Disappointed

Chapter 106: Chapter 106 Disappointed

"Um... to transfer data," the shorter witch said hesitantly, her voice breaking the silence.

Ruby leaned back slightly, pretending to look overwhelmed. "I’m really sorry," she began, her tone carrying a hint of exhaustion. "I’ve been so busy lately. You know, I still haven’t received my PIC card yet, and I need it to open my bank account and register my business. Ugh, just thinking about it makes me tired already," she added, letting out a fake sigh as she rubbed her temple for effect.

The taller witch’s eyes widened in disbelief. "Oh, Miss Ruby! You want to start a business?" she asked, her voice filled with surprise.

"Yeah, I’m planning to start one soon," Ruby replied casually, her tone sharp but giving away nothing more.

Never tell too much about your plans—things can go wrong if you share everything, she thought, sticking to her resolve.

The two witches exchanged glances, their expressions curious but unreadable.

"Miss Ruby, where did you learn computer?" the shorter witch asked suddenly, her gaze sharp and meaningful as if she were trying to read Ruby’s mind.

Ruby met her gaze, unfazed. "I’m a school graduate," she said casually, with a small shrug. "In our school, we used to have computer lessons. I was always interested, so I picked up more on my own."

It wasn’t a complete lie, but it wasn’t entirely the truth either. The original owner of this body had indeed attended a school where computers were taught as extra subject, but the school only had two computers, and not every student got a turn to use them.

The shorter witch raised an eyebrow, as if considering her answer, but didn’t press further.

"Well, it’s impressive, Miss Ruby," the taller witch said, smiling faintly. "You’ve been a great help to us, and we appreciate it."

Ruby nodded, keeping her expression neutral. "It’s nothing. Let me know if there’s anything else you need," she said smoothly, steering the conversation away from herself.

The two witches exchanged glances, their expressions shifting as if they had come to a mutual decision. The taller witch spoke first.

"Miss Ruby, can you come with us?" she asked, her eyes hopeful.

Ruby raised an eyebrow.

"You don’t have to worry about opening a bank account," the shorter witch added quickly. "We can directly contact the bank on your behalf. All you’ll need to do is provide your signature."

The taller witch nodded eagerly. "And as for starting your business, we’ll see if there’s a way we can help with that too. It’s the least we can do after everything you’ve done for us."

As expected! Ruby smirked inwardly, though she kept her face composed. "Oh my goodness! Thank you," she said, feigning excitement. "This really lifts a burden off my shoulders. Let me tell my husbands before I leave..."

Before she could turn, Julian, who had been quietly standing behind her, stepped forward with a gentle smile. "Wife, don’t worry. You can go," he said softly, his tone warm and encouraging.

Ruby nodded, glancing at him briefly. "Take care," she said, her voice steady yet casual.

Julian’s heart skipped a beat. The simple words echoed in his mind like music. Is wife caring about me? he thought, his mossy-green eyes sparkling with joy. It’s not long now... soon she’ll start loving me, he thought dreamily, his mind already filled with imaginary scenarios of their future together.

Ruby, unaware of his inner thoughts, turned back to the witches. "Alright, let’s go," she said with a composed smile.

Adrian returned home after finishing his job, feeling exhausted but satisfied. He rang the doorbell, and Milo opened it almost immediately. Milo’s face was a mixture of emotions—confusion, worry, and something Adrian couldn’t quite place.

Adrian frowned slightly but decided not to question it. As Milo stepped aside to let him in, he closed the door without saying a word.

However, as Adrian walked further into the house, he was caught off guard by a sharp smack. A tight slap landed on his cheek, causing his head to turn with the force.

He instinctively held his stinging cheek, his eyes widening in shock as he turned to see Julian standing in front of him. Julian’s mossy-green eyes burned with anger, his usual gentleness completely gone.

Karl came rushing out from the other room, his baby-blue eyes wide with alarm, while Milo stood frozen, his mouth slightly open as he tried to process what had just happened.

"Julian! Why did you slap Brother Adrian?" Milo finally managed to ask, his voice trembling with disbelief.

Julian didn’t even glance at Milo; his gaze remained locked on Adrian, his expression hard and unrelenting.

Adrian’s dark eyes narrowed as he straightened up, his jaw clenching tightly. "Julian," he said, his voice cold and steady, though it had a sharp hint of danger. "I am older than you. You dare to disrespect me like this?"

His words were slow and sharp, making even Karl flinch. The tension in the room was unbearable, the air thick with rising anger.

Julian’s hands balled into fists at his sides as he took a step closer. "I don’t care if you’re older," he said, his voice shaking with restrained Anger. "Stealing from wife is unacceptable, Adrian!"

Karl gasped audibly, his hands flying to cover his mouth as Milo’s eyes widened in disbelief. Adrian’s expression darkened further, his lips pressing into a thin line as he stared at Julian, his emotions unreadable.

"So, you raised your hand against me for that witch?" Adrian’s voice was cold, his dark eyes showing emotions that were hard to understand.

Julian flinched a little at Adrian’s words but stood firm, his anger still present within him.

Adrian’s stare stayed fixed, his jaw clenching tightly. "I didn’t think you’d do this, Julian..." he said, his voice softening, the coldness giving way to something more hurt and disappointed.

The room fell silent. Milo and Karl exchanged nervous glances, neither daring to interrupt. Milo bit his lip, his honey-brown eyes darting between his brothers, while Karl’s baby-blue eyes were wide with shock
