My Favorite Game Followed Me! -
Chapter 458
Anna retrieved one of her favorite art sculptures, the butterfly sculpture Anton had previously given her, which housed the Frozen Orb air conditioner enchantment. She then placed the metal sculpture on the small table placed in the middle of the carriage. It was a table that popped up from the carriage floor. She then activated it, and a glowing Frozen Orb appeared between the butterfly wings, looking like some sort of frozen planet that was floating in Space.
Everyone looked fascinated at the beautiful spell emitted by the sculpture, and soon, all the people inside the carriage felt the lowering of the temperature that caused a sigh of contentment in most of them.
“Are you selling that sculpture?” Rimande the merchant, asked.
“I have a similar sculpture that I’m willing to gift to you as long as you answer all of my questions regarding Ormunda. You don’t need to worry that I’m going to ask about secrets or something like that. Since we’re both newcomers to the kingdom, we just want to be prepared.”
Anton retrieved one of the sculptures that he enchanted with the Frozen Orb magic and gave it to the merchant’s wife, Isolde. He then taught them how to activate it and how to fill its mana storage with mana, which was simple enough since a mage just had to cast several low-level spells on the sculpture. Related to that, Anton showed the merchant one of each enchanted item that he had made, except for the floating boards, and one of his mana power banks.
The showing of his enchanted items resulted in the merchant buying all of them, including several mana power banks. This allowed Anton to increase his coin to around five thousand, which included the remaining gold coins that he had, but to be honest, Anton knew that coins were not going to be a problem for him due to the fact that he could create enchanted items.
“Why do you own so many enchanted items?” Oscar, the merchant’s brother-in-law wizard, asked.
“I made them,” Anton simply answered, which prompted a gasp from Rimande, his wife Isolde, and the mage Oscar, Isolde’s brother.
Anton could understand their amazement because a magic item enchanter was, by definition, a rich wizard.
“Can I buy enchanted items from you?” Oscar asked.
“Sure, but if you plan to dismantle them because you want to check the enchantment, it’s fine by me, but let me warn you that you’ll probably not learn anything because my enchantment system is different from the standard.”
When Oscar asked how it was different, Anton only smiled at him. Regardless, Oscar purchased a thousand gold coins worth of enchanted items.
After that transaction, Anton began asking the merchant and his brother-in-law questions regarding the kingdom.
According to Rimande, they would arrive in the kingdom early the next day. Anton also learned a lot of information. First, Anton and Anna would need to pay an extraordinary amount of gold coins to enroll Anna in any of the magic academies, but when Anton revealed Anna’s age and wizard rank, with Anna’s permission, Oscar said that it would probably cause the academies to offer a scholarship to Anton’s sister.
Anna began ignoring everyone and focused on memorizing her spells. When her spell slot was full, she automatically retrieved the mirror power bank and cast her spells on it to empty her spell slots. Oscar and Donald, Rimande’s son, who were focused on Anna, gasped when they saw her magic practice system. Anton knew that their gasps were probably for a different reason.
Anton was mildly amused to realize that Donald probably had a crush on his sister. While Oscar probably realized that Anna could memorize a spell at an extremely fast pace, which was a symbol of a magical genius.
He then learned from Rimande and Oscar that for him to delve into a dungeon, he would need to register as an adventurer. At first, he would only be allowed to delve into the weak dungeons, but as soon as he climbed up in adventurer ranks, the stronger dungeons would then be opened to him.
According to the merchant and his brother-in-law wizard, to climb the ranks, he would need to fulfill adventurer missions. One common mission of the Adventurer Guild was to gather materials from the dungeons. Another common mission that pertained to dungeons was to escort a rich noble or scions of merchant families inside the dungeon and act as their bodyguard. Some of the other missions that could be done outside the dungeons were monster exterminations and escort missions from one place to another.
Normally, a group needed to be formed for adventurers to enter a dungeon, but solo delving was allowed, given that the adventurer understood that the fatality rate of solo delving was as high as seventy-five percent.
Rimande and Oscar also informed him that the entrance to all of the dungeons were actually located outside the kingdom and all of them were well guarded. Anton was surprised to learn that dungeon outbreak was common enough and that was why all dungeon entrance were outside and why all of them were well guarded.
Anton was also informed that he could pay coins to undergo a test in the Adventurer guild if he wanted a rank that was appropriate to his power. It was a common enough situation since those who came from somewhere else, just like Anton and Anna, were sometimes very powerful, and of course, no one expected powerful people to start at the bottom of the Adventurer ranking, which was the Iron Rank. The Adventurer ranks were Iron, Copper, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Platinum, and Mithril.
Anton then asked the merchant regarding the common prices of goods in the kingdom, and Rimande was very open in telling him the details of the prices, which were mostly the same as the prices in any city in Rendindura.
At first, Anton wanted to asked the merchant about the prices of houses but since he was informed that Anna would be staying full time in an academy, he decided not to purchase a house and just rent a comfortable place.
Once his father returned from New Drennor, they could purchase a house if needed.
Anton then asked about the situation regarding wizards in the kingdom.
“I’ve heard from an information broker that there are above thirty Invincible Wizards and thousands of Supreme Wizards. Is that true?”
“Yes, it’s true, but you will not normally see a Supreme Wizard, much less an Invincible Wizard, on the street. We don’t know the business of the Invincible Wizard, but Supreme Wizards usually stay in their offices or their territory, trying their best to increase their power to join the ranks of the Invincible. That meant that the mages that you will see in the streets were at most Archmages and below.”
The information comforted Anton, and he could see that his sister was comforted by the magical might of the kingdom. Although they would never mistake of taking the Undead Coalition for granted again, they could admit that it would probably be quite difficult for the monsters to conquer the kingdom.
To be honest, the information shocked Anton. His “last bastion” theory would probably not come true given the power of just one of the kingdoms in the Gale Continent, but he remembered feeling the same way when they first arrived in Zalnothel.
After several hours of questioning the merchant and the mage, Anton allowed them to rest. The whole family then focused on the enchanted items that they recently purchased from him.
