Chapter 317 - Chapter 317 317 Sister

Chapter 317: 317 Sister Chapter 317: 317 Sister Shao Qing sat still, watching Chen Xu’s departing figure, her expression shifting unpredictably.

From the bottom of her heart, she hoped Chen Xu had simply lost his mind, spouting nonsense in front of her. According to what she had learned before, this man was only moderately wealthy, owning a chain of noodle shops at most–a net worth of ten million. How could he possibly produce 500 million?

She had spent many years in this circle and met numerous artists who, once famous, no longer knew their own limits. Their actions, from body language to speech tone, aimed to convey one thing: their greatness.

Chen Xu, however, wasn’t like that. When he spoke, his steady demeanor and revealed aura were something she had only felt from significant figures.

That was exactly the troubling part, if Chen Xu indeed had the capability to pay the breach of contract fee and buy out the contract, it would be a fatal blow to her career. By then, Chen Xu would definitely not let her manage Bai Jinxuan’s affairs anymore. All her efforts up until this point would have been in vain.

Thinking about this, she couldn’t sit still any longer and stood up to leave the restaurant.

Shao Qing arrived at the room where Bai Jinxuan was staying. As the door opened, she saw her sitting on the sofa, holding a guitar and playing it.

“Aunt Shao, you’re here.”

Shao Qing’s heart steadied a bit upon seeing the smile on her face; at least for now, Jinxuan still trusted her.

“Is that a new guitar?” Shao Qing asked casually after taking a seat across from her.

Bai Jinxuan replied, “Chen Xu gave it to me.”

Shao Qing felt a stir in her heart and scrutinized it closely, spotting a signature on the body of the guitar–a piece crafted by a master guitar maker worth at least one hundred thousand.

Her thoughts shifted quickly as she asked, “Being busy recording shows recently must be tiring, right?”

Bai Jinxuan smiled and said, “It’s okay. It’s all for promoting the album. I can handle it.”

“By the way, I ran into Chen Xu at the restaurant just now,” Shao Qing mentioned casually.

Bai Jinxuan, surprised and delighted, asked, “He’s also at this hotel?”

“Yes, and he brought quite a few people.” Shao Qing didn’t mention that Chen Xu was there with his girlfriend.

“He’s here for the electronic expo,” a fact Bai Jinxuan knew already but hadn’t expected such a coincidence–that they were staying in the same hotel.

Shao Qing remarked, “It’s been a few months since I saw him, he’s changed a lot; I almost didn’t recognize him. Looks like he’s been quite successful.”

“Indeed, he previously set up a lab and came up with an invention, the one solving lithium dendrites that’s been all over the news recently. He’s made quite a bit of money from that patent.”

Shao Qing noted this information to inquire further when she returned. Then, probing, she said, “After discussing it, the company thinks the previous management contract wasn’t quite fitting. We’re planning to sign a new one with you, raising the profit-sharing ratio…”

“Aunt Shao, let’s talk about the contract later. I’ve got too much on my plate right now and can’t focus on that.”

Hearing this, Shao Qing realized Jinxuan had already been in touch with Chen Xu.

Bai Jinxuan’s contract had been revised several times since she joined the company: a trainee contract, a debut contract, and one for when she became popular, all different.

Previously, she was merely an internet celebrity, arguably made big by the company’s endless resources, though she, too, fought hard and became a phenomenon-level influencer in a short time.

No matter her fame, as an internet celebrity, she heavily relied on the company’s resources, making her share of the profits naturally less significant.

Now, Bai Jinxuan had accomplished a brilliant transformation, and such a profit share was no longer suitable. It wasn’t that the company had grown a conscience, but rather they feared someone might steal her away.

500 million for a penalty was indeed steep. If she were just an internet celebrity, other companies wouldn’t spend so much to poach her.

Now, she’d proven herself as a talented singer-songwriter with eleven hit songs. Some companies might be willing to bet on her future.

Shao Qing knew she should plan ahead.

In this agency, she had no shares, only some options. Even if Chen Xu paid the breach fee, she wouldn’t benefit financially. Instead, losing Bai Jinxuan would be a significant blow to her career.

To her, as long as Bai Jinxuan remained under her management, it didn’t matter much who owned the company. The most important aspect was still Bai Jinxuan’s personal will.

Thus, choosing sides was not even a question.

She began to ponder the company’s equity structure…

The next day, accompanied by Bai Jinxuan’s singing, the electronic expo smoothly commenced.

Yunxu Company secured an excellent spot. Over the past month, Luo Xiyun had published several influential papers, causing quite a stir in the industry. Many prominent figures had emailed her to discuss the issues, helping her to establish some connections.

Indeed, fame was a powerful tool.

After she finished singing, Bai Jinxuan did not immediately leave. Under the protection of the staff, she toured the main exhibition hall and eventually stopped in front of Yunxu Company’s booth.

“Is this a VR device?” She curiously examined the equipment on display.

Secretary Guo was about to step forward to explain when Luo Xiyun, who had been standing behind, came forward and said, “Yes, this is virtual reality technology. These are our company’s newly developed next-generation VR glasses, which perform over ten times better than similar devices on the market.”

The area around was crowded with reporters and staff, making the hall completely packed.

Bai Jinxuan, her gaze slightly shifting, asked, “Sister, can I try them on?”

“Please, just call me Mr. Luo,” Luo Xiyun said with a calm expression, “Come, sit here.”

Bai Jinxuan did as instructed and sat down. Luo Xiyun picked up a pair of glasses and showed her how to wear them.

Meanwhile, Chen Xu found the scene interesting. Others might not notice, but he could feel the undercurrents between the two women.

It could be said that luckily there were so many reporters around; both knew they had to restrain themselves, otherwise, who knew what kind of conflict might erupt.

This seemed to be their first formal meeting.

He had no intention of leaving; this situation wasn’t right for him to appear. Unless a real fight broke out, it was better to pretend he hadn’t seen anything.

“Wow, this feels so real,” Bai Jinxuan said, taking off the glasses after a few minutes, visibly amazed.

Luo Xiyun saw that her tone and demeanor seemed genuinely enthusiastic, which alerted her internally. No wonder she could captivate that guy Chen Xu; her acting skills were indeed formidable.

She smiled and said, “If you like them, I’ll give you a set.”

“Really? Thank you so much.”

“No, I should be thanking you for helping me out,” Luo Xiyun said meaningfully, aware of the many reporters around taking photos. Once the news was released, it would be free publicity.

Clearly, that had been Bai Jinxuan’s intention.

She did not want to owe this woman any favors.
