The engineering vehicles outside stopped working and started moving towards the landing craft.

“What’s happening?” Chen Xu tried clearing up the situation, shouted a few times into the communicator, but received no response.

A warning appeared on the screen, “Signal interference detected, connection with engineering vehicles disrupted.”

Just then, the dark mass in the sky got closer and Chen Xu could see it clearly–they were a flock of black birds.

“Fire, eliminate them.”

In this situation, he decisively gave the order.

“Weapon system activated, ready, three, two, one, fire.”

Countless lasers shot out, piercing through the flock of black birds.

Yet, Chen Xu felt no joy in his heart; instead, his heart sank. Their numbers were too great.

Within just ten seconds, the flock had descended. Under the fire from the landing craft, their numbers were nearly halved. Those black birds had targeted the five engineering vehicles.
