Chapter 298: Shen Dang, you’ve been abroad so long and haven’t gotten a girlfriend
Chapter 298: Chapter 298: Shen Dang, you’ve been abroad so long and haven’t gotten a girlfriend
Shen Dang knew she was saying it on purpose, but he was still inexplicably annoyed.
He should have just kissed her into submission earlier to see if she would still say things to provoke him.
This woman really needed to be taken in hand!
He was being very domineering with those words.
Qiao Xi tilted her head, "What if some differences or problems arise between us?"
Qiao Xi didn’t actually believe a relationship could last forever.
Everything has an expiration date, love included.
It’s not permanent.
Plainly speaking, Qiao Xi was the type who didn’t believe in love.
But she was willing to give it a try.
To enjoy the present.
To love well while they both felt affection.
Then, no matter the result, she would be able to accept it gracefully.
To her, love was a high stakes gamble, either they would grow old together, or they’d lose everything.
She had considered both outcomes.
Since they had started, she should also bear the unknown ending.
Shen Dang was certain, "We won’t."
Qiao Xi doubted, "Are you so sure?"
"Whatever problems there might be, I’ll follow your lead. I certainly can’t afford to lose a girlfriend who wasn’t easy to gain," he said nonchalantly, yet mixed with a sense of superiority, as if he held a winning hand.
Qiao Xi paused silently, "Feelings are hard to predict though."
He stared into her eyes seriously, "Even if problems arise, they won’t be worth breaking up over. Relationships require effort and adjustment from both sides. If there’s an issue, we can solve it together, so stop worrying about other things."
He and Qiao Xi had experienced a two-year hiatus in their marriage.
During that time, they had not had a chance to really understand each other.
Since his return to the country, every little interaction with her had reinforced his determination to stay with her forever.
How could there not be any problems in a relationship?
He would solve them.
What he wanted was endurance and a steady, continuous flow of love.
They were adults, there was no reason to act impulsively like teenagers.
Previously, it was his immaturity, and even their divorce was for a fresh start, fully believing he would remarry her.
To turn her from a girlfriend back to his legally wedded wife.
For over twenty years, Shen Dang had this desire for only Qiao Xi.
He couldn’t quite say when he began harboring unsanctioned feelings for Qiao Xi.
It was only after meeting her that he had a clear definition of his type of woman.
She was the only one.
No one else.
He longed to experience with her things they had never gone through, to make their relationship a steady flowing stream.
Qiao Xi looked at him somewhat dazedly, he had a dangerous yet enthralling allure.
He no longer held back, as if tearing off his disguise, entirely revealing his intentions and dominance to her.
Such a bad boy, yet carrying a hint of wild charm.
Qiao Xi moved her lips slightly, "...Don’t be so serious, I was just mentioning it because it could be a potential issue."
Shen Dang’s gaze carried a hint of possessiveness, "You shouldn’t say such things, I don’t want to hear them. I’m very serious about our relationship, so even if issues arise, we can talk about them then. No need for undue worry."
Qiao Xi admitted to herself she was overthinking, and was somewhat insecure.
It’s a common uncertainty people have about relationships.
It wasn’t that she lacked confidence in herself, but she couldn’t yet entrust her heart to this relationship entirely.
But Shen Dang was right, overthinking was pointless.
Maybe there wouldn’t be any problems at all.
Even if there were, couldn’t they just solve them together?
That thought comforted Qiao Xi.
While they talked and ate, Qiao Xi hadn’t finished her meal; her pasta had gone cold.
She was fully engrossed in having dinner.
Once she finished, trailing behind Shen Dang in eating, he also put down his fork.
Qiao Xi stood up, volunteering, "I’ll wash the dishes."
Shen Dang grabbed her wrist, "I’ll wash them, you sit down."
"Let me do it," Qiao Xi pursed her lips, "like before, you cook, I wash the dishes."
She couldn’t just do nothing, right?
That would spoil her.
Honestly, she wasn’t that delicate.
Shen Dang raised a brow, "Then call me if you need help."
Hearing this, Qiao Xi wasn’t pleased, "I’m not that helpless!"
Shen Dang’s phone started to ring. He glanced at it.
Qiao Xi said, "Go ahead and take the call. I’ve got this."
"Okay."
It was Assistant Gao calling.
Shen Dang walked towards the living room while taking the call.
Qiao Xi took the dishes to wash.
Just a couple of plates and forks, easy to clean.
Yet, Qiao Xi thought it might be a good idea to get a dishwasher, so she and Shen Dang wouldn’t argue over who had to wash the dishes.
Then again, considering selling this apartment soon, there was no need to buy a dishwasher now.
They could install one in the new place.
Qiao Xi, shaking water off her hands, headed to the living room.
Shen Dang had just hung up the call, walking in from the balcony and naturally took her hand. Seeing she didn’t resist, his long fingers interlocked with hers, and his dark eyes enjoyed the scene.
Qiao Xi looked up.
Noticing her puzzled expression, Shen Dang smirked slowly, "Won’t you let your boyfriend hold your hand?"
Qiao Xi was somewhat speechless, "Can you not always mention the boyfriend-girlfriend thing?"
"It’s novel."
He smiled lazily, his handsome face filled with delight.
Qiao Xi: "..."
She was still adjusting to the change in their relationship, and let him hold onto her hand.
"I need to tell you something."
Shen Dang raised an eyebrow, "Hmm?"
"When Four Seasons Cloud Top is renovated, make sure to include a dishwasher in the furniture plan."
He casually asked, "Anything else?"
"Details after the renovation is done."
"Alright."
He felt her hand was nice to pinch.
Had been wanting to pinch it for a long while.
Now he could finally do it openly.
It felt really good.
Boss Shen couldn’t let go.
Qiao Xi noticed his action and was utterly speechless.
She tried to pull her hand back, but he held on tightly: "Isn’t it time for you to leave?"
"Why would I leave?" Shen Dang countered, his eyes gleaming mischievously.
"You’re not leaving?"
"Now that I’m your boyfriend, is there a problem if I stay over?"
"Being boyfriend and girlfriend doesn’t mean we have to live together, right?"
Qiao Xi felt he was muddling the concept.
"Hmm, don’t want to leave."
Qiao Xi certainly wasn’t going to let this danger stay over.
She insisted firmly, "You must go."
He feigned weakness, "Can you bear to make me?"
Qiao Xi smiled faintly, "And why couldn’t I?"
Shen Dang clicked his tongue, "They say women are heartless, the ancients didn’t lie."
Qiao Xi laughed annoyed, "The ancients never said that, don’t blame them."
Shen Dang glanced at his watch, then told her, "It’s still early, I’ll head back later."
Qiao Xi looked at his refined features; up close, his eyes were still so captivating.
Well-defined, a face infuriatingly handsome, a type that could easily make a woman’s heart flutter.
Qiao Xi suddenly asked, "Shen Dang, didn’t you have a girlfriend during all your time abroad?"
