My Ex-husband Asked Me to Remarry Him Every Day -
Chapter 126 The Overbearing Boss in the Novel
Chapter 126: Chapter 126 The Overbearing Boss in the Novel
"Movie Emperor Jiang has now signed with GK, and the GK boss’s background is no small matter. I wonder if there’s any chance of meeting the person themselves."
"It’s probably quite difficult, you know. Right now, you can’t even find a single photo of him online. The big shot is super low-key."
"Isn’t that the truth."
There was a tinge of regret in the voice.
"Teacher Su, have you ever met Boss Shen?"
Su Tutu lifted her eyelids and glanced at the makeup artist, "I have."
"Is the boss really like the rumors say?"
Su Tutu cast a sly glance at Qiao Xi, clearly intrigued, "What do the rumors say?"
"In a nutshell—they say he’s like the domineering CEO from the novels!"
"That..." Su Tutu deliberately paused, her eyes holding a hint of ambiguity that only Qiao Xi could understand, "Xi Xi, do you get it?"
Qiao Xi felt she was stirring up trouble and coolly smiled, "I’m not sure. I’ve never met Boss Shen."
Su Tutu clicked her tongue, "That’s a bit of a pity."
Qiao Xi: "..."
She wanted to kick her out!
"However, the rumors are indeed true. Boss Shen is the very embodiment of a novel’s Overbearing Boss." Su Tutu seemed regretful, "If I weren’t already married, I would definitely have set my sights on Boss Shen’s good looks!"
The two makeup artists almost fainted.
"Incredible!"
"If I could just lay eyes on Boss Shen once, I’d die without regrets."
Su Tutu: "..."
She wanted to say ’incredible’ as well.
All this fuss over a man, really.
"Sisters, did you hear that?" Su Tutu patted Qiao Xi on the shoulder.
There were legends of Boss Shen everywhere.
People inside and outside the circle were enthralled by Boss Shen.
There were even those who would give up their lives for just one glimpse of him.
That’s madness!
The makeup artist was applying mascara to Qiao Xi, and even the excitement of discussing Shen Dang didn’t cause her hands to tremble.
Qiao Xi’s red lips parted slightly, "People like Boss Shen aren’t the type we can meet if we want to."
Su Tutu: "..."
Playing coy are you.
Once the makeup was done, it was time to change into costume.
Qiao Xi’s main attire in this drama was still the cheongsam.
For the female lead’s costumes, the production team even hired a renowned cheongsam designer to tailor-make them for Qiao Xi.
Once she donned the cheongsam, she was instantly pulled back into that storied era.
She was already stunning, and with this look, she nearly took the breath away from all who saw her.
Qin Mo had acted with her for so long, but upon seeing Qiao Xi in this attire, he too was taken aback by her beauty.
It was that ethereal kind of beauty.
There are plenty of beautiful women in the entertainment industry, but only Qiao Xi could be said to possess a truly celestial beauty.
"Not bad."
Mo Qing complimented.
Qiao Xi indeed fit his vision of the lead female perfectly, even better than he had imagined.
"Places, everyone. Let’s start and do this in one take!"
Mo Qing shouted through the megaphone.
"Don’t make me curse!"
"You’re all seasoned artists, I don’t need to say much else. Everyone get ready!"
In the drama, Qiao Xi played a high-IQ, well-educated young lady who returned from studying abroad, named Su Youwei.
Jiang Yongge played Chu Ting, also known as Fourth Young Master Chu, who had an underground background in Shangcheng and was also the newly-appointed chief detective of the Central Patrol Room.
Besides them, there was the journalist Su Tutu and the forensic expert and detective consultant Qin Mo.
The four of them crossed paths because of a bizarre murder case.
Together, they solved multiple cases, unveiled layers of mysteries, and maintained the peace in Shangcheng.
The first scene.
Su Youwei returned from studying abroad and the Su Family held a banquet in her honor.
The hotel’s grand ballroom was glittering with guests.
Women dazzled in glamour, men in sharp suits, a phonograph played melodious music, and the celebrations were lively.
But beneath this opulence, there lurked undercurrents of mystery and intrigue, as if ready to overturn the city.
Upstairs in a room, a servant pushed the door open, "Miss, the guests are waiting. It’s time for you to go downstairs."
The camera zooms in.
A girl of breathtaking beauty turned around—everyone in front of the screen held their breath.
Qiao Xi’s brows furrowed, her eyes like water, carrying a youthful defiance. That pampered air rushed towards the camera, "I’ve never liked these socialities, and daddy insisted on this pomp. You go ahead, I’ll be down in a moment."
The servant left.
This was Qiao Xi’s solo scene. She applied her lipstick, then walked out.
Her high heels made soft sounds on the carpet.
She closed the door, and a shadow flitted at the end of the corridor.
Qiao Xi seemed to sense something, glancing in that direction, but saw nothing.
She made her way downstairs.
Instantly, all eyes were on her.
Qiao Xi tilted her chin up ever so slightly, a smile gracing her lips as if a stunning flower had bloomed amongst the worldly.
A flash of annoyance crossed her eyes, quickly replaced by a genuine and vibrant smile.
"Youwei."
Jiang Yongge came over with Old Master Su.
Qiao Xi smiled coyly, "Brother Chu Ting!"
Following the script, Qiao Xi threw herself into Jiang Yongge’s arms.
Jiang Yongge, his eyes warm with indulgent tenderness, pinched Qiao Xi’s nose, "You haven’t changed a bit."
Old Master Su chided softly, "Enough of that now. We’re in public, be more mindful."
Qiao Xi stuck out her tongue and then stepped out of Jiang Yongge’s embrace.
Qiao Xi chatted non-stop with Jiang Yongge.
The crowd bustled around them.
A gentleman approached, hoping to ask Qiao Xi for a dance.
Qiao Xi rejected him with a smile, "Sorry, I only dance with Fourth Young Master Chu."
The man sheepishly backed off after seeing Chu Ting.
Qiao Xi extended her delicate hand, tilting her head, "Brother Chu Ting, may I have my first dance back in the country with you?"
Jiang Yongge took her hand, "Of course, and your first dance can only be with me."
They made their way to the center of the dance floor.
In the witness of everyone, they danced together.
Jiang Yongge’s hand on Qiao Xi’s waist, probably sensing her stiffness, he whispered, "Qiao Xi, remember, we are playing childhood sweethearts secretly in love with each other."
No dialogue was necessary; the camera just caught the scene of their whispered conversation.
Qiao Xi lifted her gaze towards Jiang Yongge, bestowing upon him a pure smile.
Childhood sweethearts, a sweet atmosphere, a visually stunning scene, a fleeting glimpse of astonishment.
Qiao Xi knew how to dance, and of course, Jiang Yongge was no slouch. Besides his superb acting, he was skilled at both singing and dancing as well.
The first dance ended, and so did the first scene.
It was winter now, and although it wasn’t too cold indoors, Su Tutu immediately draped a coat over Qiao Xi.
Bei Bei: "..."
She felt her job had been stolen.
Su Tutu pulled Qiao Xi aside, "My god, seeing you two together, I almost thought you were a real couple."
Hasn’t Boss Shen realized the danger yet?
Qiao Xi tapped her head, "Fan ships can be obscure, but they can’t be improper. Movie Emperor Jiang is married, don’t spread nonsense."
Oh, right.
Su Tutu had almost forgotten that detail.
Su Tutu pouted, "I just want to stir some sense of crisis in someone."
"Who?"
"Do I even need to say it?"
"...Stop causing trouble!"
Moving on to the second scene.
Qiao Xi went into the restroom and witnessed a murder unfold before her eyes.
