My Ex-husband Asked Me to Remarry Him Every Day -
Chapter 108 Preparing for Divorce
Chapter 108: Chapter 108 Preparing for Divorce
Old Madam thought to herself that she certainly didn’t want Qiao Xi’s filial respect.
What she wanted was Chu Wan.
It was this Chu Wan who could barely be considered suitable for her grandson.
Shen Dang flicked his eyelids, his gaze momentarily icy, "Why is Miss Chu at our house again?"
Chu Wan felt a sudden chill in her heart from Shen Dang’s look, "I..."
"It was me who called Ah Wan over. With everyone so busy, this good child has been keeping me company and alleviating my boredom," the Old Madam chided.
Shen Dang’s smile was ambiguous, "Then I must thank Miss Chu."
Chu Wan lowered her eyelids, covering the burning ambition in her eyes, "It’s my duty."
She would eventually become Mrs. Shen Dang!
Shen Dang glanced away, "Xixi, take Miss Chu down for a cup of tea; I have something I need to discuss with Grandma alone."
His voice was lazy and indifferent but left no room for interjection.
Chu Wan: "Grandma..."
The Old Madam patted Chu Wan’s hand and gave her a look, "Go on."
Qiao Xi had no interest in listening to their conversation either; she was the first to leave the room, followed by Chu Wan.
The Old Madam, her eyes brimming with affection, said, "My Ah Dang, Grandma can only look at you properly when I am clear-headed."
She initially did not accept Qiao Xi marrying into the Shen Family, but she wasn’t the one who called the shots at home.
Chu Wan said their marriage was a sham, and the Old Madam had no doubt, considering that two people who had been apart for two years couldn’t suddenly have such good relations.
If it was fake, then just divorce. Why wait and risk more complications?
The Old Madam would not allow any accidents!
Shen Dang lifted his lips into a smile, his posture lazy as he leaned back, "Grandma, what exactly did you say to Xixi?"
The Old Madam’s eyes flickered, "What can I say? Just usual family chatter."
"Grandma," Shen Dang squinted, still smiling, "You should rest and recover from your sickness, don’t worry about these trivial matters. That’s better for your health. And try not to see Miss Chu anymore."
"You won’t even let Ah Wan keep me company?" The Old Madam felt wronged.
"Can’t you see Miss Chu’s intentions towards me?" Shen Dang asked lazily.
The Old Madam pretended not to understand him, "What intentions? You’re imagining things. That’s not true."
Thinking something is one thing; admitting it is another.
The Old Madam wanted them to divorce, but she couldn’t compromise her own image.
Shen Dang squinted and smiled, an air of rebellious chill about him.
Seeing Shen Dang’s eyes that seemed to see through everything, the Old Madam wondered if she should feign illness...
Shen Dang’s voice was neither warm nor impassioned, "Grandma, rest assured, I will divorce Qiao Xi. I want my freedom. After the divorce, I won’t marry Miss Chu either, so let go of that thought."
"Ah Wan is a good girl."
Shen Dang’s tongue touched the corner of his mouth, his smile somewhat roguish, "You surely wouldn’t have me jump into another fire pit?"
Who was Chu Wan?
He hadn’t even taken her into consideration.
"Ah Dang, I..."
Shen Dang’s dark eyes were tinged with a touch of icy coldness, "Grandma, you should rest now. I’ll come to see you another time."
His gentle voice was laced with indifference.
The Old Madam finally realized he was angry.
Well, as long as he divorced Qiao Xi, that would suffice.
Shen Dang walked downstairs, one hand in his pocket, smiling with noble laziness, "Teacher Qiao, let’s go."
Chu Wan heard his voice and looked at Shen Dang first.
However, Shen Dang didn’t even glance at her; his handsome profile exuded an aura of cold detachment from miles away.
Yet, his gaze towards Qiao Xi was different, casually indifferent but firmly on her.
His eyes held only her.
Qiao Xi got up from the couch without a peep, following Shen Dang out.
Qiao Xi and Chu Wan reached the downstairs without any interaction, completely ignoring her presence.
Shen Dang ignored her even more thoroughly.
Chu Wan felt an unbearable sense of aggrievement, her eyes filled with a deep, mournful longing.
Outside, Shen Dang opened the car door for Qiao Xi, even raising his hand to block something above her head as she got in.
If he wasn’t deliberate, would he have noticed such details?
Chu Wan’s eyes reddened with jealousy.
She took a deep breath to suppress the restlessness in her heart.
No matter, as long as the old lady was on her side, that was enough.
Chu Wan immediately returned upstairs.
"Grandma, will Qiao Xi really divorce Ah Dang? She’s not going to defy him secretly, is she?"
"Why would she? Even if she doesn’t want to, Ah Dang will divorce her."
The Old Madam earnestly advised her, "Ah Wan, after their divorce, you must seize the opportunity!"
Better safe than sorry; she couldn’t let them rekindle their relationship!
...
In the car, Qiao Xi took out a notebook from her bag and waved it at Shen Dang, "I got the household registration book."
And her grandfather hadn’t discovered it.
She had the Old Madam to thank for this.
Once she joined the production crew, her relationship with Shen Dang would come to an end.
A smile was almost unveiled on her face, and Shen Dang snorted at her, "Are you happy?"
His gaze was dark and somewhat ambiguous.
Did she even need to ask?
Qiao Xi looked at him quizzically, "Aren’t you happy?"
Shen Dang hummed from his throat lazily, "Oh yes, I’m thrilled."
Qiao Xi: "..."
Qiao Xi returned his smile, "It’s good if Boss Shen is happy."
Shen Dang couldn’t help but make a light noise of amusement, "Are you going home or somewhere else?"
"Home," Qiao Xi thought for a moment and said, "You can just drop me off on the road."
Shen Dang still drove her to Yingyue Bay.
Qiao Xi unfastened her seat belt, "Thanks, then I’ll head in now."
Shen Dang tapped on the steering wheel, "I’m going back to work at the company; someone will deliver some groceries later."
Was he implying he would cook?
Qiao Xi shot him a look, "Oh."
Her voice was cold.
She got out of the car, closed the door behind her, and entered the villa without looking back.
Shen Dang watched her go, a lazy smile playing on his lips.
Was she playing coy after getting what she wanted?
Qiao Xi sat on the living room couch reading a script, but her mind was drifting elsewhere.
The doorbell rang, and upon opening the door, Qiao Xi was met with a smiling face.
"Madam!"
It was actually Assistant Gao.
"This is the produce that President Shen ordered me to buy; should I put it in the kitchen?"
Assistant Gao, why are you the one delivering things?" she asked perplexedly.
She had thought Shen Dang would send just anyone.
After all, Assistant Gao was his most capable assistant.
Assistant Gao beamed, "I’m familiar with this kind of errand, Madam, and President Shen wouldn’t trust anyone else with it."
What was there not to trust?
Assistant Gao had misunderstood their relationship, but Qiao Xi didn’t feel the need to clarify, "Give me the groceries, you’ve been very helpful."
"No trouble at all, I get a salary for this."
Running errands was far better than sitting in the office all day. Instead of staring at documents, he could breathe the fresh air outside.
He would be happy to do this sort of task more often!
He was up for it!
Assistant Gao handed all the items to Qiao Xi, "Then Madam, shall I go back and report to President Shen?"
