I didn’t count on to awaken with a sword pointed at my throat, however that’s how day after today started out.

"Well, that is a first," I muttered, blinking blearily on the female straddling my chest.She wore a combat cloak and her crimson hair looked like molten steel.

"Name," she demanded. Her blade pressed closer. "Now."

Lilith appeared in the doorway, completely unbothered. "Ah. You’ve met Zephira."

"Zephira?" I choked. "Who names a psycho with a sword—"

She pressed harder. "Say that again, pretty boy."

Lilith sighed. "She’s an ancient relic. A living blade forged by the first Demon Queen. And unfortunately, she’s now...awake."

Zephira sheathed her sword slowly, eyes never leaving mine. "He’s soft. But he’s the one, huh?"

Lilith smiled faintly. "Yes. The Architect."

Zephira sniffed. "Then he better start acting like it. War’s coming."

That’s how I learned I’d gained another professor. One who judged worth by scars and swordplay. Great.
