My Dear Duke(BL)
Chapter 65: Felix & Anne(1)

Chapter 65: Felix & Anne(1)

"Duke...it’s alright. I...understand your feelings. It will be okay."

Asher mumbled out, trying to clear his head so he could give the duke some support. He was afraid if he were sound shaken too, the duke would be even more upset. He wanted to make the atmosphere calm in the ambition of wishing it would make the duke calm down too.

But still, all he had to comfort was, ’it will be okay.’

But, at this point, Asher didn’t know how things would be okay even though those words had already left his mouth. They were just some words that didn’t really carry its meaning other than the purpose of trying to comfort the duke.

Listening to this sudden twist in the story, it would be an understatement to say he was shocked. He was more than shocked, confused and yet interested to know the whole story as to how it became that way.

Was it exactly what he was thinking?...

Recovering from the shock, Asher continued to comfort the duke.

If he, a stranger to the duke, felt this much emotion to this news, then how would the duke himself feel it?

Asher couldn’t help but feel sorry for the duke.

So, he said she was not his sister.

but she then didn’t become a stranger instead became his daughter?!

If this twist happened in a good way, he would have been excited to get ears on the family drama.

But, this was totally the opposite now.

Asher thought to himself about all the possibilities of things happening as he questioned himself from time to time.

First of all, How?

But he knew the answer... or so he thought.

Asher didn’t really have that question ’how’ for much long because he made up the answer as he gathered his thoughts and that part from the duke’s story.

It was obvious ’how’. But it’s just a guess. He could be wrong. And it would be better to find out he is wrong.

Because he didn’t really want it to be the truth at all.

This would end up bad for the duke. And for Miss Anne too.

That’s what Asher understood from the situation.

Asher made sure to ask the duke if he was sure the count Xander was telling the truth. Because all those counts had done nothing but bad things to the duke. It would be a foolish thing to trust any of them easily. Especially since he confessed something really serious and problematic that had now led to the duke’s meltdown.

The duke admitted to getting worked up at the beginning then regaining his composure to question him which made him believe he was actually telling the truth because everything perfectly matched. Count Xander was telling the truth.

So, to Asher’s questions, the duke’s answer made Asher clear his suspicions.

The duke was right.

Never did the duke really confirm it was actually his mother who birthed Miss Anne. He never knew if it was actually the truth. He simply trusted the letter because the mage confirmed they were related.

It was very clear the duke and Miss Anne were related since the blood test that time was trustworthy. But it still didn’t exactly say what their relationship was.

His mother might not have been involved in this at all.

The only connection between Miss Anne and the duke was that they were somehow related.

And now, he had come to a weird reveal how they were actually related.

It all became messier and messier as Asher connected dots. But well, he couldn’t blame the duke. Who would think that child was his child when that unknown baby was found to be related to him? That’s the last thing the young duke would guess if he ever had to. So this is definitely an unexpected situation.

That man, the count Xander, was involved in this in a different way than Asher expected though.

And listening to the duke explaining the conversation between him and that count, everything made sense.

After that, all Asher had left were worries. Which was also what made the duke so worked up, feeling helpless.

Asher felt his throat hurt, his eyes getting a burning sensation as the duke cried like a baby in his arms. He also wanted to cry along with the duke.

It was painful.

Really painful...

As much as Asher wanted his guess to be wrong, unfortunately, he was right.

Miss Anne was the child born from the sexual abuse the duke endured that day...

That’s how she is his daughter.

His own blood.

Asher felt sorrow and bitterness in his heart. What was the exact feeling the duke felt knowing this?

Despair? Hatred? Envy? Disgust? Disappointment?

Asher couldn’t figure it out because he might never really feel this since he did not experience this himself. Other than feeling sad and sympathy seeing the duke pitifully seeking shelter and comfort from him, he had nothing to feel the duke’s exact pain.

Asher knew this definitely wouldn’t end easily to reach that happy ending. This would get complicated, the duke getting confused by his feelings with Miss Anne in this mess.

The duke loved Miss Anne a lot.

But now it was revealed to be like this, how would his feelings change?

Thinking about all those made Asher panic. He was nervous and worried for their future.

This family...was messed up real bad.

So, according to what the count had confessed, that crazy woman was actually the count Xander’s younger sister. She had gone crazy after her husband left her for another woman.

Filled with dreams, the life she embraced with happiness had soon become a nightmare with the events following her husband’s affair.

Divorced within a month after her marriage, she had moved back to count Xander’s house but had soon shown weird behaviour. Getting more and more depressed, she got violent, losing her temper easily and harming others to the point it was way too much work. Eventually, the count, her brother locked her up in a room with the purpose of protecting others and trying to find a way to heal her which never happened, or...rather failed.
