Chapter 164: Too Sweet

"My eye mole?"

Asher asked and Felix also now looked at it, feeling it was indeed very red.

"I am pretty sure it wasn’t like that before."

Felix said while looking at Asher’s eye mole which was now looking different than before. It was red and quite big too.

Seeing the distraught expression on Felix, Asher also wanted to see it so Lucas gave him his mirror to look at it.

"Right...it is really red."

Asher said, covering his eye for whatever the reason.

"I don’t know if this has some connection to you throwing up blood, but...according to what I can see, you have no problem. But...throwing up blood really can’t be some random thing. So...we must investigate further."

Lucas sat down and sighed, rubbing his forehead as he felt frustrated that his skills were not doing anything here.

Asher was fine.

According to everything he checked.

Other than that eye mole...

"Has this ever happened before?"

"Throwing up blood or red eye mole?"

"Both?"

"No..."

"Haa...Right, let me check your pulse again."

Lucas held Asher’s hand again, then took his pulse again.

Lucas took his time checking him again. But every minute passed, Felix felt like Lucas’s frown got bigger as he observed.

"Felix...I think I know what’s wrong with him."

Lucas said, his voice slightly shaking which made Asher curious but Felix worried as he had never heard Lucas sound so nervous before.

"What is it?"

Lucas looked at Asher and then at Felix, mumbling it out.

"I think he is pregnant."

Lucas said and both Felix and Asher looked at each other, not knowing what exactly to feel.

It’s...just a guess, right?

But, what if it’s...true?

Asher was slightly shaking at that point and he didn’t know if he was on the happy side or shocked side. This was something completely new.

A pregnancy...

He had not even thought of getting pregnant.

Right...how did that happen?

He took the pills.

Did sir Lucas’s pill not work?

Asher felt his heart thump and for whatever the reason, he suddenly felt quite betrayed. Did...sir Lucas purposefully give him pills that did not work?....No, it can’t be...

"Sir, I don’t think I can be pregnant. I took the pills just like you said."

Asher said, in his mind, confident he was not pregnant. It...can’t be...he...And, he didn’t know if he was ready for that kind of a thing.

"That’s what I also thought. Maybe...the pregnancy started before that?"

"...So...is it confirmed I am pregnant?"

"No...I’m just assuming here. I do have a pregnancy test on me. Would you like to confirm it?"

"...Yeah. I want to check it."

Asher, no matter how nervous, led the conversation as he felt he should...he should find things out.

He was nervous. Very nervous...

The more Asher thought, the more he was convinced that he was indeed pregnant now. Things somehow seem to add up perfectly....

If not, why did his mole suddenly turn red? It had never happened before. It was always black. Alas, till the very recent moments too... Maybe only after he vomited blood that time did it show up, maybe?

It was all confusing. But Asher was now worried for himself.

Asher looked at the duke, looking helpless which made Felix also get more helpless. He also didn’t understand. But...he knew whether Asher was pregnant or not, things seemed to get complicated.

If Asher is pregnant, then...that’s okay.

If Asher is not pregnant, then, that’s okay too.

Either way, his vomiting blood was not okay.

Obviously...it could be a sign for something...

Felix was scared. He didn’t want Asher to be sick. He wanted him to always be healthy and happy.

Things seem to not go his way...

"Here..."

Lucas rummaged through his bag and brought out a wooden box, then opened it. Asher and Felix watched everything Lucas did and they saw some pearls rolling around inside of that box.

Lucas brought the box to Asher and asked him to pick one. Asher didn’t know what he was supposed to do next but he followed along what sir Lucas asked him to do and picked a green coloured pearl.

Lucas then closed the box and placed it aside and sat down.

"Eat it."

Lucas said and Asher stared at him for a few seconds, then turned to Felix.

Felix looked at the pearl in Asher’s hand and seriously questioned Lucas to which Lucas explained everything very clearly.

"Don’t worry, they are safe. If not, I wouldn’t give that to him. These are called mother pearls. These are specially used to find out if someone is pregnant. I had not used one on a man before though. But I guess I am doing it today. By the way, this pearl is actually edible. These are quite expensive too. It doesn’t matter though.."

"So...how do you find out if he is pregnant or not...with this?"

"I can’t find it. He finds it out. It depends on what the taste he gets when he sucks on it. So hurry up. Quickly put it in your mouth."

Lucas said and Asher nodded, then threw the pearl inside his mouth, sucking on it.

Lucas and Felix stared at him hopefully, while Asher confusingly sucked on it as he couldn’t taste anything so far.

"Tell me when you start to get a taste and what it is. It should be sweet, sour or bitter."

Lucas said and Asher nodded, squeezing the hand of Felix as Asher got more and more nervous as time passed.

However, not soon after, Asher felt the immense sweetness which was very sweet to the point of disgust. Asher couldn’t help but spit the pearl out, his eyes welled with tears as it felt so disgusting.

"How is it?"

"It’s...sweet. too sweet."

Following a long silence, Lucas then looked at Felix, then at Asher.

Lucas clenched his fist as he felt the excitement and nervousness spread through his body...

So...this time...he was indeed pregnant!

Lucas left a big sigh, trying to calm down as he shared the news.

"....Asher, you are pregnant. Possibly...with a girl. And...she must be older than three months already."
