Chapter 109: I like You Too

Felix, dumbfounded as to why he got accused of hurting Asher, stared at him pale faced and with a sudden fear of Asher hating him reaching to his mind.

What did he do?

Did he put him in pressure?

Did he get too comfortable with him and did something wrong?

Asher cried continuously, hugging Felix.

If Asher was upset and had the right to be mad, why was Asher still holding onto him then?

Felix was flustered by the way situation had escalated. But he still tried to comfort Asher. But...well, he was definitely not good at it and given the fact he was just asked what he did to make Asher upset, he definitely didn’t know how he was supposed to comfort crying Asher.

So, like an idiot, he stared at Asher, just gently patting on his back and waiting for him to end the crying.

All while, he didn’t forget to apologise too.

"I don’t know how...I made you upset, But I am sorry."

Felix said, making Asher pause and look at him in disbelief.

"No no! You did nothing wrong. I was just talking crazy here!"

Asher said, making Felix feel confused more and it indeed was like Asher was crazy from the way he could confuse Felix that easily.

"Asher...don’t cry."

Felix said, trying his best to be supportive.

It could have been supportive if he had a more soft tone saying that though.

Asher couldn’t help but pause again, then stare at the duke, asking the duke to make sure if he was threatening him with that ’dont cry’ or trying to comfort him.

"Are you trying to comfort me?"

"Y-yeah. I have no idea what to do. I am sorry."

The duke said again and Asher who had been crying, cracked up laughing all of a sudden.

It’s such a weird thing to see Asher laughing while tears streaming down his face still.

Was he sad or happy now?

"Duke...has someone ever told you...they like you?"

Asher asked, wiping his tears and seemingly smiling.

"Yeah..."

The duke said and Asher’s smile slowly vanished which somehow was left unnoticed by the duke.

"W-who?!"

Asher asked in a hoarse voice, startling Felix who immediately answered as he understood Asher looked upset again since he had been smiling for quite some time now.

"Anne?"

Asher and Felix stared at each for a good few minutes before Asher broke eye contact and sighed, then left a chuckle.

When Asher looked back at the duke, he asked a question that sounded totally out of the topic from what they were talking about which changed the atmosphere also with Asher’s change of the tone.

"Duke, I am thankful that I have already asked more than what I should be getting from you as your slave."

Asher said, witnessing the duke’s expresion change from confused to stunned.

"...Why call yourself a slave? You are not a slave."

The duke said firmly with a frown that surprised Asher who chuckled again.

"Then what should I call myself? Aren’t I working under you after you bought me? That kind of a person is called a slave."

Asher said, but his eyes were still observing the duke’s face that was intently watching him.

"Asher, slaves don’t get paid. I’m no master and you are no slave. Be careful with your words."

The duke said, making Asher form a small smile.

"Then, what am I to you? Since I get paid, a servant?"

"That’s your official position in this mansion. Not to me. You are...more than a servant to me. I have said that before too. Why are you talking about this now?"

"Duke...I very recently figured out something."

Asher said thoughtfully while they both stared at each other still. It would have been awkward to observe each other for that long under the other’s gaze, but it wasn’t and they continued observing each other as they talked all that while.

"What is it?"

The duke asked, curious.

"Remember when you said...you like me a lot?"

Asher asked, his tone gentle and kind of shaky.

And, that’s also when their eye contact finally broke as the duke looked away in panic.

"Y-yeah....why are you talking about it again?"

Asher heard the duke ask nervously. His voice even cracked at some point. Haha...The duke must be embarrassed.

But Asher wanted to continue the eye contact because he wanted to see the duke’s reaction.

So, he held the duke’s cheeks gently, then turned his head back to him, their eyes looking into each other’s eyes again.

"I couldn’t say it back then. But, I like you a lot too."

Asher said with an even wider smile, watching the duke blush and try to hide his face. But Asher held him tight, staring more intensely into the nervous eyes looking around.

"Duke...I like you a lot too. A lot..."

Seeing him say it again, Felix tried to move his face away again as he was really in pain from feeling the burning sensation in his cheeks.

No...why was Asher torturing him like this?

He heard it! He heard it, god damn it! Why is he repeating it again?

Felix was happy to hear it. And, at the same time, it made him feel proud as anyone else other than Anne had not said that to his face.

Even Lucas and Karl had never said that to his face while they did everything by actions.

Actions speak louder than words, that’s right.

While the words could be fake, with the person saying, it depends and Felix would dumbly believe if Asher said so. Because, like he said, he liked Asher a lot.

To hear Asher say that back, it’s like an achievement and it made him happy, proud, sad, excited all at once.

And it all led him to be extremely embarrassed and nervous.

And now, Asher was messing with him with just those words.

He heard it...

And he was happy to hear it...

But...why was Asher now saying it with so much emotions?

It almost made Felix say somethings he had thought about Asher too.

No...Asher will be repulsed to hear them.

He would prefer being the coward he was if it would not mess with what he has now...
