My daily life is not peaceful
Chapter 15 - Ghouls and Pudding

Chapter 15: Ghouls and Pudding

Luo Yun’s gaze fell on a graceful girl in a uniform standing behind the counter.

It wasn’t her beauty that held his attention—after all, with Nayue-chan at home and Asagi Aiba, both top-tier beauties, Luo Yun had long built a resistance to such charms.

The girl wore a gentlemanly black outfit with a white shirt and black dress pants. Her fair, rosy skin paired with short blue hair gave her a crisp, professional air, and her emerald-green eyes reflected his image.

“Kirishima Touka?”

Luo Yun silently recited the girl’s name in his mind.

The heroine from Tokyo Ghoul, and a ghoul herself.

Though he knew ghouls existed and had even fought them, he hadn’t expected to encounter a character from the original story here.

Compared to the grim, vengeance-driven narrative of the original, in this technologically advanced world, artificial ghoul food wasn’t expensive. As long as one didn’t care about taste or flavor, it cost about the same as regular food.

Moreover, some research institutes, while studying ghoul physiology, had accelerated efforts to modify their human-eating genes.

Compared to vampires, ghouls were closer to humans with genetic mutations. With the right methods, altering their genes wasn’t too difficult.

The original plot had been heavily disrupted.

For instance, Tokyo, which nearly fell in the original story, wasn’t exactly peaceful now but was protected by exorcists and Demon Hunters, preventing daily human disappearances from making headlines.

“Excuse me, sir… is something wrong?”

Kirishima Touka clutched her silver tray, her cheeks flushing slightly under the unfamiliar boy’s stare, her head dipping shyly.

“Two—no, four servings of this dessert, plus two milk coffees and four crepes.”

Asagi Aiba placed the order.

But as she looked up, she caught the waitress’s bashful demeanor. Though she and Luo Yun weren’t officially a couple, it still made her a bit jealous.

“Ah… yes, right away.”

Snapped back by Asagi’s voice, Kirishima Touka hurriedly scurried to the kitchen with the menu.

As the girl left their sight, Asagi crossed her arms, her face carrying a knowing look. “You were staring at that girl just now, Luo Yun-kun. Want me to get her number for you?”

“Don’t joke around. She just reminded me of someone I know, that’s all.”

Luo Yun smiled.

“Besides, today’s about hanging out with you. I wouldn’t be thinking about anyone else.”

The young man’s smile, bathed in sunlight streaming through the window, shone warmly.

“W-Well, in that case, I’ll let it slide. And even if you liked someone else, it’s none of my business.”

Asagi forced a teasing tone to hide her shyness, grinning as usual.

“Ugh…”

Under Luo Yun’s smile and the sunlight, her cheeks flushed red, and she slumped onto the table.

A breeze from the window gently lifted her golden bangs.

Soon, the dishes Asagi ordered arrived.

The rich aroma wafted to her nose, and she took a delighted sniff.

“I heard this place gets great reviews from everyone who’s eaten here.”

Asagi’s eyes sparkled as she looked at the food, gently scooping a piece of pudding—a complimentary dessert.

“You ordered so much. Can you actually finish it?”

Luo Yun asked.

“Don’t underestimate a girl’s stomach. Desserts go to a separate one. Plus, we’ve got a big meal coming up… your treat.”

“Yes, yes.”

Luo Yun smiled helplessly.

After eyeing it for a few seconds, Asagi’s throat bobbed. She took a bite, and a rich, indescribable flavor burst across her taste buds, lingering delightfully.

Emboldened by the taste, Asagi eagerly dug in, her quiet demeanor from the cinema gone, her foodie nature fully unleashed.

Before long, she’d polished off a dessert, muttering, “I’m definitely coming back here.”

Luo Yun sipped his milk coffee, watching her eat with an exasperated expression.

“…”

“Please come again!”

Kirishima Touka bowed slightly as they left.

“I’ll definitely be back!”

Asagi patted her stomach, nodding in satisfaction.

“Hehe, next up, the big meal! I heard a new restaurant opened nearby, run by a chef from Totsuki Academy. That school’s famous worldwide. If my dad didn’t stop me from traveling, I’d have gone to the mainland to check it out ages ago.”

Asagi said eagerly.

Could anything make her happier than being with someone she liked?

“…Is that him?”

Among the crowd on the street, a beautiful black-haired girl paused when she saw the figure across from her.

It was Kasumigaoka Shiyu from that day.
