Chapter 155: "Accident"

After we entered the base, I decided to explore the place while following Estella. The biggest problem is not knowing how long she has been in this place she may have set up traps and now knows the strategic points well.

"Are you going to keep following me, sweetheart?" She says, easily noticing me since I’m an undead and within the range of her power.

"Yes, I’ll follow you for a while, caution is never too much," I say while looking around the environment.

"You have..." She tries to speak but is interrupted.

Crash

"..." We both look at the chandelier that I "accidentally" cut the rope on, making it fall almost on top of her, but she narrowly avoided it by jumping out of the way.

"Sorry, I think I’m still inexperienced with ice magic, I usually spread it to detect intruders. I’m sorry for the accident," I say while actually spreading ice in some spots.

This is a standard detection magic I have it makes it so that if someone gets too close to the ice, they are detected. After this, I’ll have to go outside and surround the entire base with it.

"It’s alright, accidents happen," she says coldly to me with a fake smile.

"Yes, accidents happen. The place is also quite old, don’t worry, I’ll clean up the mess afterwards," I say to her with an equally fake smile.

"Of course, since it’s your fault, it’s your responsibility to clean it up," she speaks as if it’s nothing.

"Since you’ve been here for a while, could you tell me where the kitchen is? I need to see you preparing Bella’s meals to ensure you don’t do anything she doesn’t like."

"...Of course I can show you, and I understand what you mean," she says as we both walk through the cold corridors of the place.

"By the way, it’s almost time for Bella’s meal, so you need to start cooking, servant," I say mockingly, which immediately causes a vein to appear on her forehead.

"Y-Yes, you’re absolutely right."

"Yes, I’m absolutely right, servant. I think there should be maid dresses somewhere, so you should start wearing one." Her anger increases even more when I say that.

"You’re really an annoying bitch," she insults me.

"Bella is very selective, if you’re not properly uniformed, you’ll have problems, and I shouldn’t let Bella get stressed with someone like you...if you know what I mean."

"Nobles are really something ridiculous," she speaks as if it’s an insult to me, it’s quite noticeable that I was a noble considering the current state of my body.

"..." But I honestly don’t care that she insults the nobles, I’ve lived enough lives to not care about this cheap provocation that has nothing to do with me.

In silence, we arrive at the kitchen while I look to see if there’s anything here that could accidentally kill Estella. If I kill Estella in an obvious way, Bella will punish me for disobeying.

And then I’ll have serious problems, since Bella is pretty bad at punishing, and I could lose something important. But if I kill Estella in an accident, Bella won’t care or blame me.

Bella isn’t very smart, so as long as it seems like an accident and there’s nothing overly obvious, she’ll believe it after investigating a little.

"What does your mistress like?" Estella asks while I sit in a chair to carefully watch if she’s not going to poison the food.

"She likes chicken," I tell her what Bella normally likes to eat, but I don’t say anything else.

I watch her start cooking, frying the chicken carefully and using various seasonings. Since the meat is fresh, I deduce that she’s been taking care of everything in the base diligently.

Which also means that she’s made this place her home, and I bet she’s stolen things from here and already spent them, which is quite normal among necromancers since they constantly abandon their bases.

However, it also means that Estella may have secrets or dangerous things stored here, since she possibly didn’t expect the owner to return to the location.

I see Estella using some kind of pressure cooker, and this gives me a great idea. I simply wait for the pressure in the pan to be extremely high.

And when Estella is distracted cutting vegetables, I add ice crystals inside the pressure cooker. Since it’s magic-resistant ice, it’s practically like common ice.

And with the heat of the pan and the steam inside, the ice instantly turned into water, and with that, there’s more water than there should be, which increases the amount of steam. The pan shakes without being able to release the extra steam.

I know that in a few seconds it will explode because I added at least 500 grams of ice, which is more water than the pan can handle. Also, due to the pressure and steam, the cold water heats up very quickly without being able to cool the contents of the pan.

"Hey, Estella, look at that pan over there! It’s badly sealed and the valve isn’t great, go check it out. If you mess up the recipe, Bella will get very upset," I say as Estella sighs angrily and goes to check the pan.

"There’s nothing wrong," she says, checking the pan without knowing about the extra pressure and steam I caused, they don’t seem to understand the chemical reactions correctly, so she doesn’t know that the pan’s shaking is too much pressure.

"Look closer! Are you blind or something?" She impatiently approaches the pan closer, checking the valve that releases steam by pressing and moving it gently.

Soon, the pan explodes, the lid is thrown upwards while fragments spread, unfortunately Estella reacts ridiculously fast and with superhuman speed.

Able to dodge the pan lid and move away, avoiding any fragments, I look at the ceiling where the lid got stuck and see the large amount of steam escaping.

Estella looks at me with a look as if she wants to kill me, she knows I did something and she fell right into it.

"This won’t come cheap, girl, someday I’ll pay you back for this," she says as she throws the pan remains aside. She was very lucky not to be burned by the steam, dodging it very quickly.

"Really? But when you try to do that, I’ll be able to kill you, and I believe that between you and Bella competing for my control, Bella would eventually win," I say confidently.

"...You’re absolutely right, she would win in control ability, but I wonder if she would die first before having full control over you," she speaks arrogantly.

’With her reaction speed, she’s slower than me and possibly weaker too...’ In a fight with Bella giving me orders, I would win, but if Bella dies, I would be unable to resist Estella’s orders.

I need to ensure Bella’s safety at all costs, honestly, it’s chilling just to think about what Estella would do to me if she gained control of my body.

"Cook quickly, Estella, it’ll soon be time to bring Bella’s food," I say authoritatively. She grumbles but goes back to cooking while I think about what could kill her as an "accident".

It doesn’t matter if she has superhuman abilities, if she’s crushed by something heavy or receives a fatal injury, she’ll die, and the fact that she took the trouble to dodge the pan lid means it would have really hurt her.

While I think about what other "accidents" I can make happen to Estella, she finishes cooking, and after that, she goes to get the maid uniform I mentioned, and we both take Bella’s food.

And as expected, Bella was waiting in a large dining room.

"I knew I could expect the best from you, Shizune!" Bella says excitedly to me, while Estella, with false sincerity, places the dishes on the table with a smile.

"Here it is, Miss Bella, I hope you enjoy my humble food," Estella speaks softly, acting perfectly while serving Bella’s food.

Bella, without waiting, starts eating and seems to be enjoying the food very much. I just watch as Estella waits with a fake smile.

"You know, your cooking is wonderful, it seems I made the right choice in leaving you here," Bella says with a huge smile as she takes the next plate. I can only sigh at Bella’s stupidity.

’Yui, please give me the patience to endure such stupidity...wait...’ I look at Estella, thinking better about this. I’m sure Estella noticed that Bella isn’t very smart.

And if Estella is actually manipulating Bella to get what she wants, in this case, I would be the one at a disadvantage.

"Miss Bella, I believe it would be good to do a perimeter check. You were fleeing the church, weren’t you? So it would be a good idea to send your servant to make sure we’re not in danger," Estella says with a smile.

"Bella, don’t listen to her. If there was an enemy, I would have already noticed, and..."

"Would you really? The church could send a paladin with stealth abilities, and even you couldn’t detect them," Estella interrupts me with a smile.

"Hmm, Shizune, she’s right. Go check the perimeter," Bella says as she gets up from the table, no longer interested in the food.

"I’ll go to the lab to finish resurrecting some undead, I’ll be back here for dinner," Bella says, going to the door and leaving me here. I can only clench my hand in anger.

"Clever bitch," I say, going to the door to "check" the perimeter, knowing there won’t be anything. Honestly, Bella’s stupidity is already getting on my nerves. She knows she only has power if I’m with her, and yet she wants to be alone with someone she doesn’t even know is dangerous.

"Don’t worry, Shizune, I don’t plan to kill Bella, she’s an entertaining person. I’ll just chat with her a bit," Estella says arrogantly as she watches me leave. I was slow, I should have realized that Estella wanted to manipulate Bella instead of killing her.

’She’s going to try to reduce Bella’s powers with words...and if Bella believes her and slips up, I could end up in Estella’s hands.’ My body practically obeys the order to go check the perimeter.

I need to finish quickly and get back to the two of them. Bella may be very intelligent when it comes to architecture, the dead, and necromancy, but in all other aspects, she’s very slow.
