Chapter 112: Flying Sword

"Shizune, the food is ready! Wake up to come eat or I’ll throw a bucket of cold water on you," Yeom says, waking me up as I smell the food. By the looks of it, it’s almost morning, so it must be around 4 or 5 AM.

"..." I get up before she actually carries out her threat, which was quite serious since she’s done it before.

Having meat for breakfast isn’t exactly what I would expect, but it’ll do. I get up and go to the lake to wash my face and wake up, while also taking out a toothbrush and toothpaste that aren’t very pleasant, and start using them.

"Yeom, the smell is really good," I give her a brief compliment, sensing the smell of the meat, but Yeom doesn’t respond as she cuts the meat with cooking utensils. After washing my face, I go over to her.

"Is something wrong?" She’s clearly bothered by something, her lack of responses or even a good morning shows that. I wonder what made her dissatisfied.

"Shizune, who is Yui?" She looks at me in a slightly disturbing way, making me shiver. This type of question is a recipe for disaster.

"..." As I freeze up with the question, she just keeps looking at me while cutting the meat precisely, but I won’t be stupid enough to respond in a dumb way.

"May I ask where you heard that name?" Depending on where she heard it, I know what kind of answer I can give without irritating her or anything.

"You were mumbling in your sleep." With that, it’s clear I need to be more careful when sleeping, as it would be terrible to mumble names of girls or guys near a jealous Yandere.

"I swear in the name of heaven that Yui is not a person." As soon as I say that, she automatically seems better. If I had lied, a lightning bolt would have struck me that’s what swearing to the heavens in this world means.

"I understand, and what is Yui?" Yeom asks much more calmly. At least I didn’t wake up with her stabbing me or something.

"It’s life, it’s a term that symbolizes life, and that’s something I swear by the heavens." It’s not a lie, and since Yeom doesn’t seem to care that much anymore, she just leaves it at that.

"I see, there are many names with symbolism. Here’s a bit of wild boar, I also have a special seasoning," she says, serving me some kind of sauce in a small glass "bottle."

I take the meat on a plate and put a bit of the seasoning on it, then using a knife to cut the meat into smaller pieces.

"Shizune, please don’t eat that," Yui says just as I was about to try it, so I pretend to be stung by an insect and drop the plate on the ground.

"...Sorry, Yeom, an insect bit me," I tell her, and with a smile, she hands me another plate with meat.

"You can eat this one, Shizune." Yui responds as I eat, the flavor is really good, and it’s obvious that the "special" seasoning was a problem, though Yeom doesn’t seem to mind that I didn’t eat it.

As I eat, I look at Yui to have her tell me why I shouldn’t have eaten the meat.

"Yeom played a prank with the seasoning after hearing you mumble my name, nothing too serious, but you wouldn’t have liked the result. I was even surprised by the relatively childish joke."

"She was clearly irritated by you saying my name, but she didn’t get aggressive, maybe because she was already a dangerous person from the start!" When Yui says this, something interesting is noticeable.

’So she doesn’t really care that much... maybe because she knows she has a lot of control over me...’ It seems that if I give her a low motivation, nothing happens, which is good. It shows that the Yandere factor isn’t that strong in her, perhaps because she is naturally tyrannical.

"Yeom, this is really good, could I have some more?" I say, handing her the plate, and she smiles happily. It’s truly delicious, and since she likes compliments, there’s no harm in eating more.

"I’m so glad you like it! It’s also full of medicinal ingredients to help you, I know they won’t cure your problem, but they’ll strengthen your body and help you move forward with me."

"Haaa..." I sigh, the idea of having to walk more is just annoying, but there’s not much I can do about it. It’s not like I can withstand Yeom’s flying swords.

And there’s also no room on the swords, so in addition to the lack of strength for me to fly on them, I also wouldn’t have anywhere to stay.

"...Wait... Yeom, don’t you have a really big flying weapon?"

"Yes, but they’re only for one person and are too fast for you to ride with me," she says, unaware of which sword I’m talking about, but I’ll remind her of what I mean.

"...But don’t you have a sword that’s like a big steel plate and slow, that you threw in your ring and thought it was really bad because it’s slow, and even said you were tricked into buying that weak and slow sword?"

"...Ah... yes... that sword..." She says, avoiding the answer. I decide not to talk too much about it. She was tricked into buying that sword, and it became almost a stain on her record, but she never got rid of it.

"Let’s just fly on them, it’s faster than walking." I can’t believe I had to go down the mountain just because she doesn’t like the weapon. If I had remembered earlier, we could have been far away from here already.

She takes out a wide sword from her ring and throws it on the ground while she starts to levitate. She comes over to me and lifts me up like a princess, jumping onto the sword, which then starts to fly. It’s not very fast, but it’s still much faster than walking.

"Why are you holding me? I wouldn’t have fallen." I don’t need to be held. The sword has plenty of space, and as long as she doesn’t make dangerous maneuvers, I won’t fall off.

"Cultivators, we’ll soon find them, and I’ll take them down like insects, but the sword will shake, so you might fall off." It makes perfect sense. If she starts to be attacked and retaliates, obviously the sword will suffer turbulence.

"That’s really nice of you." She looks shocked at what I said, as if it was unthinkable.

"What kind of monster did you think I was? I would never let you get hurt without a good reason."

’Without a good reason... so with a good reason, she would let me get hurt?’ That’s a terrible thing. Luckily, there are no reasons for that, and I don’t plan on giving those reasons to get hurt.

"Yeom, could you tell me why we’re going to the Orthodox Sect?" I decide to change the subject before this turns into some kind of stupid argument between us, which I’m sure would happen.

"...I... maybe I can’t cure you... so if I can’t cure you before we reach the Orthodox Sect, I’ll try to negotiate with them or force them to help you, but don’t worry, you won’t die anytime soon!" She says with conviction.

"You didn’t need to add the ’anytime soon’ part..." She talks as if my life is about to end, which isn’t pleasant, especially since it’s partially true.

"But one day you’ll die, it’s nothing out of the ordinary in what I said, hehehe, or are you afraid of death?" She asks with a chuckle, as if the topic wasn’t terrible. Honestly, I hate talking about dying.

"Oh yes, I’m very afraid of death." I look at Yui, who is sitting on top of Yeom’s head, just listening, while giving a slight chuckle.

"Don’t worry, Shizune! As long as I’m here, death will be nothing! In the end, we cultivators have control over our lives, and death is just a small transition state for a new try."

"...?" I didn’t understand what she meant by that, so I look at Yui confused, hoping she’ll explain.

"Shizune, worlds like this follow a certain model of reincarnation, so cultivators in general always reincarnate, especially the strong ones, who sometimes even keep their memories!"

"So if I die, you’ll come after me?" I question Yeom with a chuckle.

"Of course! I’ll pull you back even by your hair, hahaha! I’m willing to go to the King of Hell and fight him to save your soul and bring you back to the earth with your memories!"

"That sounds incredible, but please don’t do that, hahaha. I’d be scared if you really managed to do that." It’s true, if she could chase me through worlds, it would be terrifying.

And I don’t doubt that there could be a Yandere capable of such a thing, chasing me between worlds, which would be bizarre even for me.

"..." She doesn’t say anything, as if it were a real hypothesis. I quickly look at Yui, who, knowing me well, can tell what I’m going to ask without me saying it.

"No, Shizune, she can’t follow you to other worlds. She’s too weak for that," Yui says, which calms me down about it. It would be disturbing to have a Yandere chasing me even in other worlds.

Although the chance of this happening is extremely slim, as it would have to be a Yandere at the level of a god or something similar.
