My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back
Chapter 87: Headlines Again

Chapter 87: Headlines Again

Eryx’s voice was calm and measured as he addressed the reporters, a quiet confidence behind his words. "I’ll be holding a press conference soon," he said, making sure everyone heard him clearly. "Any of you who post a picture of my wife, I’ll make sure your company doesn’t see the light of day tomorrow."

The room fell into a stunned silence. Reporters exchanged nervous glances, unsure how to respond to the sudden threat. Eryx wasn’t one to make idle threats, and they all knew it.

At the back of the room, Valerie arched a brow, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of her lips. She didn’t say anything, but her posture was a little too relaxed for someone who was supposed to be part of the spectacle. It was as if she were just waiting for the next phase of the game.

Eryx gave her a slight, disinterested glance before turning back to Lunara. His expression softened immediately. "Let’s go."

As they made their way to the car, Eryx made sure Lunara was covered until they were both inside. The chaos they left behind didn’t stop, however, as Eryx’s phone buzzed nonstop. He glanced at it, but with Lunara by his side, he chose to ignore the notifications for the moment.

Lunara managed to catch a glimpse of the screen before he set it aside. "Don’t you think you should pick it up? Your mom is probably worried."

Eryx hesitated for a moment, then shrugged. "She’ll understand." He focused on the road as the car pulled away from the hotel. "Right now, all I need is to keep you safe."

Lunara nodded lightly before trying to find her phone inside her bag. "Wait! I left my phone behind," she suddenly exclaimed.

Eryx didn’t seem surprised, his expression calm. "Check again," he suggested casually, keeping his eyes on the road.

Lunara quickly checked her bag again but didn’t find it. She glanced at him, a little concerned. "I really left it there..."

Eryx gave her a reassuring smile. "It’s okay. We’ll get a new one tomorrow." He said it so nonchalantly, but the truth was, he was keeping her phone hidden to prevent her from seeing the bad news circulating online about her.

"But the phone is new..." Lunara pouted, not agreeing.

"It’s okay, we’ll get a new one, and you can choose the one you like this time." Eryx reached for her hand and gave her a soft smile. "For now, let’s go home and get you something to eat. You’re probably hungry."

Lunara nodded, but as she looked out the window, her mind kept drifting back to the events of the night. Despite the chaos with the reporters, she couldn’t help but smile to herself. It was her first time, after all. Her cheeks flushed a rosy red, and she quickly shook her head to brush off the thought, hoping Eryx wouldn’t notice the heat spreading across her face.

"Are you okay?" Eryx frowned. "Why are you so red?" He instinctively stopped the car at the side of the road and reached for her forehead. "Did you catch a fever?"

Lunara shook her head quickly. "No, no, I’m okay."

Eryx’s frown deepened as he pulled his hand back and started driving again. "We’re going to the hospital. You’re burning up! You weren’t this hot earlier." His voice was filled with concern.

Lunara felt her own forehead and was surprised by the hotness, "It will probably be gone in a few seconds." She muttered, thinking it was just because of her thoughts earlier.

Eryx glanced at her, still worried. "You’re not fine. We’re going to get you checked out." He kept his focus on the road, refusing to let her brush it off.

Lunara pressed her hand to her forehead again, still feeling the heat lingering. "It’s really nothing, I promise," she insisted.

"Okay, how many seconds have passed, and you’re still hot, right?" Eryx glanced at her, his concern deepening, before reaching for her forehead once more. "See? This isn’t just hot. It’s burning hot."

Lunara tilted her head slightly, now feeling the discomfort that she hadn’t noticed earlier.

They soon arrived at the hospital, and both quickly put on their hats, masks, and sunglasses, trying to avoid attracting attention. As they entered the hospital room, Lunara suddenly felt a sharp cramp in her stomach, causing her to wince and instinctively clutch her tummy.

"Are you okay?" Eryx instantly reached out, holding her steady. "Doctor!" he called, his voice laced with concern, even though the doctor had already rushed to Lunara’s side.

"Bring her to the bed," the doctor instructed, her tone calm but urgent.

Eryx quickly lifted Lunara into his arms, rushing to the bed with her. His frown deepened as he gently laid her down, his concern growing as Lunara crouched, clutching her stomach in pain.

The doctor moved closer to the bed. "Where does it hurt?" she asked, her voice gentle yet focused.

Lunara winced as she spoke softly, "Right here, on my lower abdomen."

The doctor paused for a moment, her eyes narrowing as she pieced together the situation. She looked at Eryx before turning back to Lunara. "Did you two have sex last night?" she asked, her tone now direct.

Eryx blinked as he was dumbfounded by the sudden question. "Ahem..." He cleared his throat, "Well—"

The doctor seemed to understand, nodding with a knowing look. "It’s normal to experience some cramping, especially after a first time or if there has been no prior sexual activity," she said, glancing between the two of them. "However, we should ensure that everything is fine. I’ll perform a check to rule out any other concerns."

After finishing the examination, the doctor pulled off her gloves and gave them both a brief, pointed look.

"She’s fine," she said, then added with a touch of dry humor, "But maybe take it easy next time. Not everyone handles... enthusiasm the same way."

Eryx cleared his throat, ears turning slightly red. "Right. Got it."

Lunara tried to hide her face behind her hair, mortified.

The two of them walked out of the room quietly, still keeping their hats low, masks on, sunglasses covering half their faces. No one seemed to pay attention to them as they made their way through the hospital hallway. Or so they thought.

Unbeknownst to them, someone with a camera had been sitting near the far end of the corridor. Hidden behind a newspaper, the person subtly lifted a phone and snapped a few pictures right as Eryx held the door open for Lunara, his hand gently resting on the small of her back.

Later, once they were back in the car, Eryx’s phone began buzzing like mad. He finally picked it up, and his expression darkened.

"What is it?" Lunara asked, already wary.

He turned the screen toward her. "We’ve made headlines again."
