My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back
Chapter 62: Secret Marriage

Chapter 62: Secret Marriage

Lunara rushed inside after hearing Eryx’s answer, goosebumps running down her arms. It was so cringy she couldn’t handle it.

Following behind, Eryx smirked. "You still haven’t answered me."

Before Lunara could react, their moment was interrupted.

Regina stood in the middle of the grand staircase, her sharp gaze fixed on Eryx. "We need to talk."

Eryx let out a tired sigh, rubbing the back of his neck. "Can’t it wait? I just got home, and I’m not in the mood for another headache."

Regina’s expression didn’t waver. Instead, she crossed her arms and said coolly, "Then I suppose you won’t mind if I make some changes at the company while you rest? Or maybe... return Mila to her mother’s family?"

Eryx’s jaw tightened, his exhaustion instantly replaced by irritation. His gaze darkened as he took a step forward. "Do you always have to pull this kind of stunt?" His voice was laced with frustration.

Regina arched her brow. "Do you always have to make me?"

Eryx let out a sharp breath, raking a hand through his hair. "I’m tired."

"And I don’t care," she shot back. "You made a mess today. As the heir of the Grantham family, that was not supposed to happen. And if it ever does, make sure it’s not in front of a crowd."

He sneered, "So I can kill people behind the door?" a smirk appeared on his lips.

Regina’s gaze hardened. "Don’t test me, Eryx."

He let out a low chuckle, the smirk never leaving his lips. "Oh, but isn’t that what you do best? Setting the rules and expecting me to follow like a well-trained dog?"

Regina paused for a few seconds before shifting her gaze to Lunara, who stood still nearby. "Can you go up first, dear?"

"Oh, that’s surprising." Eryx crossed his arms. "Didn’t know you could speak that nicely to someone."

Regina ignored his remark, waiting for Lunara to leave. Lunara hesitated, glancing between them, but ultimately nodded and turned to head upstairs. The tension in the air was thick, and she knew this was a conversation she wasn’t meant to hear.

As soon as Lunara disappeared from sight, Regina turned back to Eryx, her voice firm. "You need to start acting like the heir, not some reckless thug."

Eryx’s jaw clenched. "And you need to stop treating me like a damn puppet."

Regina walked down the stairs as she closed the distance between them, "You agreed two years ago." Her voice was low as she reminded him.

Eryx let out a bitter chuckle, shaking his head. "And I’ve regretted it every damn day since."

Regina stopped just a step away from him, her gaze unwavering. "Regret it all you want, but that doesn’t change the fact that you’re bound by it. You knew what it meant when you agreed."

His hands curled into fists at his sides. "I agreed to keep the company stable, not to have every part of my life dictated by you."

Regina tilted her head slightly. "And yet, you’ve done a fine job of making a spectacle of yourself today. Tell me, Eryx, how do you think the board will react when they hear about this little outburst of yours?"

His smirk returned, sharp and taunting. "Let them react. I’d love to see them try and do something about it."

Regina sighed, crossing her arms. "You think you’re untouchable, but someone with weaknesses should know better. And I believe you’ve added one more. Should I remind you what’s at stake?"

Eryx’s expression hardened, his smirk vanishing. "I said don’t."

Regina studied him for a moment before nodding slightly. "Then be smart about your choices. Because next time, I won’t give you a warning."

Without waiting for his response, she turned and walked away, leaving him standing there, mad.

Regina took a few steps before stopping abruptly. She turned back to face Eryx, her expression unreadable. "One more thing," she said coolly. "We’re visiting your grandmother on Saturday. Don’t forget."

Eryx let out a slow breath, his jaw tightening. "Two days from now?"

"Yes," Regina confirmed. "So pull yourself together." With that, she finally turned and walked away, leaving him standing there, fists still clenched at his sides.

Lunara, who had been quietly watching from upstairs, frowned as she took in the scene.

Eryx, still seething, suddenly released his anger by punching the first wooden pillar of the staircase. A dull thud echoed through the hall, but he didn’t flinch. His knuckles turned red from the impact, yet he remained still, his shoulders rising and falling with each heavy breath.

Lunara walked straight to the bedroom, her steps slow and uncertain. She didn’t know if she should have said something, but Eryx’s expression earlier told her it wasn’t the time.

Sitting at the edge of the bed, her fingers gripping the fabric of her dress. Regina’s words echoed in her mind.

"You agreed two years ago."

Two years ago... that was when she and Eryx agreed to get married.

Her chest tightened as unease crept over her. Was Regina talking about their marriage? Or was there something else Eryx had agreed to?

Lunara bit her lip, her curiosity growing stronger. She wanted to ask him, but after what happened downstairs, would he even answer her?

The door suddenly opened, making her stand up. Her eyes met Eryx’s usual cold expression.

"Are you okay?" she asked hesitantly.

His gaze remained unchanged, freezing cold. "We’re going to my grandmother’s house this Saturday, and when I said ’we,’ I didn’t mean you. I don’t want you to come, even if my mother asks you to."

Silence followed his words. She hadn’t expected that. Unsure of how to respond, she simply nodded.

"And about our marriage," he continued, meeting her eyes with an unreadable expression. "For now, keep it a secret. I’ll make sure anyone who knows about it stays silent."

Her heart dropped at that moment, and she didn’t even know why. She shouldn’t have been surprised, yet hearing him say it so coldly made a dull ache spread in her chest.

"Okay," she replied, her voice barely audible as she rushed toward the bathroom. The next thing she heard was a door slamming shut, probably Eryx, deciding to sleep somewhere else tonight.
