My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back
Chapter 215: Two Hearts

Chapter 215: Two Hearts

After sorting out her mind and heart, Lunara was now back at the hospital. For the whole week, she had tried her best to figure out what was best for her—what she wanted, what she should do—and in the end, both her heart and mind pointed to the same thing.

Taking a deep breath, she stood in front of Eryx’s hospital room after a week of leaving him.

But the moment he opened the door, the room was empty.

Her breath caught. The bed was made. No sign of him. No machines. No warmth. Just cold, sterile silence.

Panic hit her like a wave.

’No. No, no, no—what happened? Where is he?’

She spun around and bolted into the hallway, her heart thudding in her ears as she scanned the corridor desperately.

And then—she froze.

At the far end of the hallway, standing beneath the soft hospital lights, was a man in plain clothes. His posture relaxed, hands in his pockets, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

Eryx.

Her heart stilled. Then raced.

He hadn’t moved, just waited, like he knew she’d come.

And when their eyes met, his smile widened, soft and real.

Lunara took a shaky step forward.

Then, she didn’t wait another second.

The breath she’d been holding escaped in a sob as her feet took off, carrying her down the hallway toward him. Her shoes slapped against the tiles, her vision blurred with tears she didn’t realize had started falling.

Finally, she was in his arms.

Eryx caught her effortlessly, pulling her close like he’d been waiting a lifetime for this moment.

"Did you sort out your heart?" he murmured, gazing down at the top of her head as she sobbed quietly into his chest.

She nodded against him, her fingers clutching the fabric of his shirt. "I did. And it keeps leading me back to you."

He let out a slow breath, relief flickering through his eyes. "Then stay."

Lunara looked up at him, cheeks wet, voice trembling. "Only if you ask me every day."

"I will," he said, pressing his forehead to hers. "Every day. For the rest of our lives."

She cried in quiet, trembling sobs against his chest. Not because she was sad, but because he was there. Because she hadn’t lost him. Because she hadn’t been too late.

Eryx stood still, his arms slowly rising to hold her, even if his grip wasn’t strong yet. She didn’t care. Just having him here, real and breathing, was enough.

When the tears finally ebbed and she pulled back, her fingers found his. "When did you wake up?" she asked breathlessly. "Are you okay now? Are you already discharged? Why didn’t anyone call me? Wait, maybe they did? Were you alone? Did it hurt waking up like that? Have you eaten—"

Eryx chuckled, and for the first time in a long time, it didn’t sound hollow. It sounded like him. His lips curved into a smile, wide and warm, like sunlight breaking through the clouds. "Lunara... breathe."

She blinked at him, a laugh bubbling through her panic. "Right. Sorry. I just... I thought something happened when I saw the room empty—"

"It’s okay." His voice was calm, steady. "I’m here now. And you came back."

His hands gently cupped her cheeks, and with his thumbs, he wiped the tears she hadn’t realized were falling. His touch was warm.

"I got scared earlier," she whispered, her voice cracking.

"I know." His smile softened. "But I waited. Because I knew you’d come."

Lunara held onto his hand, gripping it tightly like she feared he might slip away again. "So you were standing here like this?" she asked softly, her brows drawing together. "Waiting for me?"

Eryx’s gaze never wavered. "Yeah. I did."

His voice wasn’t dramatic or heavy, it was calm, certain.

"I didn’t know if you’d come," he admitted, brushing his thumb gently over her knuckles. "But I kept thinking... if I took one more step forward, maybe you’d be there."

Her heart thudded.

He smiled.

"Come on," she said, blinking through the weight in her chest. "Let’s find somewhere to sit. I think... I need to sit."

"I would love that," he murmured, then hesitated. "But I can’t move."

Lunara blinked, confused. "What do you mean? You were standing just now—"

He tilted his head slightly, lips curving in a rueful smile. "Exactly. I was standing. That’s about all I’ve got."

And then he turned his head slightly, gesturing to the right side of the hallway.

Only then did she notice the wheelchair parked quietly against the wall. A folded blanket sat on its seat, as if someone had been using it not too long ago. Her breath hitched.

"You were...?"

"I still can’t walk far on my own," Eryx explained, his voice quiet but steady. "You know, it’s been almost a year. My body’s still catching up."

Lunara blinked, then winced. "Right! Oh my god—how could I forget?" she muttered, already rushing toward the wheelchair. "You’re literally in recovery. I just made you stand there like some kind of dramatic love interest in a movie—"

Eryx chuckled as she wheeled it over and positioned it gently behind him. "Well, the hallway lighting was pretty good. I think I nailed the dramatic look."

"Yeah, yeah," she said, rolling her eyes with a huff of laughter. "Okay. Careful now."

She steadied him as he eased himself into the seat, her hands hovering near his back in case he stumbled. When he finally sat down, a soft exhale escaped both of them at the same time, his from the effort, hers from the relief.

"Thanks," he murmured, glancing up at her with that familiar lopsided smile.

She shook her head, tucking the blanket over his legs. Then, standing behind the chair, she rested her hands lightly on the handles. "So... where should we go, hubby?"

Eryx stiffened slightly, his head turning just enough to glance up at her with wide eyes. "Wait," he said, his voice almost disbelieving. "I didn’t hear that wrong, right? Say it again."

"What? Where should we go?" Lunara asked innocently, blinking.

"No. Before that." His eyes narrowed, but the corners of his mouth twitched. "Don’t play dumb. You know exactly what."

"So?" she said, feigning confusion as she adjusted the handles of the wheelchair like it was the most important thing in the world.

"Lunara!" He pursed his lips thinly. "I mean after ’Where should we go?’"

She tilted her head thoughtfully. "Hmm... Did I say anything after that? Or—"

"You know that’s not what I’m talking about!"

She gasped. "Wait... are you hungry? Is this a blood sugar thing? You do get grumpy when you’re hungry."

Their laughter burst across the hallway, light and echoing—two hearts finding their rhythm again.
