Chapter 175: Move Out

"Why?"

Lunara’s hand, which had been tightly clasping Eryx’s, suddenly stopped mid-step.

Eryx turned to her. He tried to smile, but his eyes gave him away.

After spending the whole day talking heart to heart, they’d agreed to take a walk in the park, to breathe, to exist quietly together. The late afternoon breeze danced through the trees, carrying the sounds of children laughing in the distance.

"I just need some more time to face him," Eryx finally said, his gaze gentle on Lunara. "And I think... he needs more time too. To recover from all of this."

Lunara didn’t respond right away. Instead, she stepped in front of him, eyes searching for him.

"Do you want to move out?"

Eryx blinked. "Huh?"

He hadn’t expected the question.

"I mean..." She hesitated. "If it’s too heavy, being in the same place. Maybe a new space might help you breathe better. Help both of us, even."

Eryx stared at her, unsure whether to be touched or ashamed.

Lunara looked away for a moment, gathering her thoughts. Then she said softly, "There’s a villa. The one my mother left me."

His brows drew together slightly.

"It’s quiet," she continued. "Surrounded by trees, a bit outside the city. The last time I went there, I quite liked it... I think it might be a good place to heal. For both of us."

Eryx was silent for a moment, then gave her hand a gentle squeeze.

"I... actually have a place too," he said carefully. "A small house. Not far from here. I bought it a few years ago, before everything got complicated."

Lunara turned to him, surprised. "You’ve never mentioned it before."

He gave a small smile, a little sheepish. "I never really stayed there. It was supposed to be a place to escape to when things got too loud. I just never got around to using it."

She studied him quietly, the wind tugging gently at the ends of her hair.

"Do you want to see it?" he asked. "Before we decide anything. Maybe we can go together, just take a look. No pressure."

Lunara nodded softly. "Okay. Let’s go see your house."

They started walking toward the parking lot when a hurried voice interrupted them.

"Excuse me... Are you Lunara?" a young man asked, slightly out of breath.

Eryx’s eyes sharpened the moment he recognized the man. Without hesitation, he grabbed Ryan’s collar. "What do you want?"

Startled, Lunara quickly reached out, holding onto Eryx’s arm. "Eryx, calm down. What is this about?"

Eryx’s jaw tightened, his grip still firm. "This is the man who got Naomi pregnant and then tried to avoid taking responsibility."

Ryan struggled slightly but kept his voice steady. "No! I never said that to her. I’ve been trying to explain, trying to contact her, but she won’t listen."

Lunara’s eyes narrowed as she looked between them. "Eryx...let him go first."

Eryx’s grip loosened reluctantly, and he stepped back, still eyeing Ryan warily.

Ryan ran a hand through his hair, breathing heavily. "Look, I’m not here to fight. I just... I don’t know who else to ask for help. Naomi means everything to me."

Eryx narrowed his eyes, doubt clear in his voice. "If Naomi means that much to you, why didn’t you step up earlier? Why leave her alone all this time?"

Ryan swallowed hard, struggling to keep his composure. "I was scared. Scared of messing things up even more. But I realised, running away didn’t fix anything."

Lunara watched the exchange quietly, sensing the tension but hoping for some kind of understanding.

Eryx’s gaze hardened. "So what changed? Did you finally find out who she really is? That’s why you’re here now?"

Ryan’s eyes widened, confusion flashing across his face. "No..." he paused as his eyes darted between the two of them, "What do you mean by finding out who she really is?"

Eryx’s gaze sharpened, voice low and cautious. "You didn’t know?" he scoffed then glanced slightly at Lunara, "that’s really suspicious, don’t you think so?"

Ryan’s breath started to go fast as annoyance started to grow in him, "And I still didn’t know what your relationship with her, what with you really?"

"You...dating someone but didn’t know anything about the person you date? Seriously?" Eryx’s eyes narrowed in anger.

Lunara stepped between them quickly, her voice firm. "Enough. Both of you."

Eryx clenched his jaw but took a small step back, his eyes still fixed on Ryan.

Ryan exhaled sharply, his frustration simmering just beneath the surface. "I’m not here to fight. I know I made mistakes, but I’m not lying. I didn’t know anything beyond what Naomi chose to tell me. And yes, maybe that makes me an idiot, but I cared about her."

"You still don’t know her," Eryx muttered.

"I’m trying to," Ryan shot back. "That’s why I’m here. Because no matter how little I know, I know enough to feel like losing her is the worst thing I’ve ever done."

Lunara’s gaze softened just slightly. "Then if you really mean it, stop being defensive. Listen. You say you love her... prove it by being patient. She’s not someone who opens up easily. You have to earn that trust."

Ryan nodded, more solemn this time. "Then tell me what I need to do. I don’t care who she is... I just want to be there for her."

Eryx let out a short, humorless laugh. "Unbelievable." He took a slow step forward, his voice dropping, edged with bitterness. "You want to know who she is?"

Ryan stood still, tense, waiting.

"She’s my sister," Eryx said flatly. "Naomi Grantham. The rightful heiress of the Solterra Group."

Ryan blinked, his mouth parting slightly, stunned.

"And you’re telling me," Eryx continued, eyes sharp, "that you dated her, claimed to love her, and never knew that?"

Ryan’s lips moved, but no words came out. The weight of the truth hit him hard.

Eryx scoffed again and turned away. "That’s what I thought."

Lunara looked between them, her heart heavy, the silence that followed thick and final.
