My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back
Chapter 121: Never Had Them Before

Chapter 121: Never Had Them Before

"Nope."

That was Eryx’s answer to her question.

No explanation.

No attempt to soften the word.

Just that.

Lunara turned slightly toward him, her eyes narrowing. But he didn’t meet her gaze.

His hand stayed steady on the wheel, though his fingers flexed once, tightening before relaxing again. He leaned slightly into the curve of the road, head tilting like he was trying to shake something off. The truth was, the dull ache behind his eyes had started turning into something sharper.

He hadn’t been sleeping properly. Not for weeks.

It was always like this, juggling long hours at the office until midnight while making sure he was beside her during the day. He never said anything about it. Never wanted her to know how hard it was starting to feel.

Lunara waited a moment longer, clearly expecting something more. But he didn’t add a word.

And that silence, it said enough.

So she turned back to the window, lips pressed into a quiet line.

A soft click broke the stillness a moment later. Eryx reached for the dashboard and adjusted the air conditioning, turning it a little warmer. He didn’t say anything. Didn’t even glance her way. But the gesture was quiet, intentional.

The car rolled forward again, smooth and unhurried. Then, without warning, he pulled over near a small roadside coffee stall.

Lunara blinked, confused. "What are you—?"

"Wait here," he said simply, stepping out before she could finish.

She watched through the window as he exchanged a few words with the vendor, hands tucked into his pockets, his frame looking somehow both relaxed and tired under the early dusk sky. A few minutes later, he returned with a cup in hand and opened the door, sliding back into the driver’s seat.

He passed her the cup, "Vanilla latte."

She looked at it, blinking. "Vanilla latte?"

Eryx finally turned to look at her, the corners of his mouth tugging slightly. "I noticed you ordered this before," he said. "So to be safe, I bought this one."

Lunara stared at him, momentarily at a loss for words. It wasn’t grand. It wasn’t a love confession. But she felt touched.

Lunara stared at him, momentarily at a loss for words. It wasn’t grand. It wasn’t a love confession. But she felt touched.

Holding the cup with both hands, Lunara smiled, clearly pleased. She took a sip and leaned back, more relaxed now. "Thank—"

Eryx’s phone rang, cutting her off. But he understood what she meant. With a small nod, he reached over and gently tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear.

"Wait for a while," he mouthed before answering the call.

"Yeah," he said into the phone, voice shifting into a colder, more professional tone. "Okay, I’m coming. Get all the documents ready."

He ended the call quickly and looked at her. "Sorry. There’s something urgent at the office. I need to head over now."

Lunara just nodded, her fingers tightening slightly around the warm cup.

"I’ll drop you back at the mansion first," Eryx said, already turning the car back onto the main road.

Lunara looked out the window, quiet for a moment. Her fingers tapped lightly on the cup. It had been almost a month and Eryx was always around, always driving her, waiting for her, sitting beside her. She couldn’t remember the last time she went somewhere alone.

"Can you drop me at the nail parlour near the Solterra building?" she asked suddenly, still not looking at him.

Eryx frowned slightly, glancing at her. "There’s a nail parlour there?"

"Not at the building," she clarified, finally turning to face him. "It’s at the next block. Across the small bookstore with the blue awning."

Eryx shook his head slowly. "Nope. It’ll be better if you go there with me later."

Lunara, who didn’t expect that answer, frowned. "Ah... I really want to try manicure and pedicure. Never had them before."

That made him pause. He glanced at her, surprised. "Never?"

She shook her head, looking down at her cup. "Back then, it just felt like a waste of money. I used to think... better to spend on food than stuff like this."

Eryx’s jaw tensed slightly. He didn’t say anything at first. Just quietly shifted the car into drive and started moving.

Lunara looked over, curious. "Are we going to the office?"

"No," he said, eyes still on the road. "We’re going to the nail parlour."

She blinked. "Seriously?"

"I’ve kept you close to me every day for weeks," he said. "One hour won’t kill anyone."

"But Naomi said it takes about two hours," she said, tilting her head slightly. There was a hint of hesitation in her voice. "I’ll wait there... you can come back after you finish your work."

Eryx didn’t answer right away. He pulled up in front of the nail parlour she mentioned and parked the car. Then he turned to look at her.

"I’ll wait in the car," he said simply.

Lunara blinked. "What? Why?"

"I don’t like the idea of you waiting alone," he said. "And if I leave, I’ll probably get stuck with meetings and calls for hours. So this is easier."

She stared at him for a moment, unsure if he was being stubborn or sweet.

"I can take care of myself, you know."

"I know," Eryx replied. "But I also know I wouldn’t be able to focus on work if I left you alone here. So yeah, just go, and I’ll wait. Or maybe I’ll ask Callum to come keep an eye."

Lunara sighed, then opened the door and stepped out of the car.

Just as she was about to walk off, Eryx followed her and stopped her with a light touch on her elbow. Without a word, he handed her a sleek black card.

"What’s this?" she asked, staring at it.

"A new one," he said. "Yours was expiring."

Her eyes flicked from the card to his face. "I’m just getting my nails done."

"I know," Eryx said, deadpan. "But in case you suddenly feel like buying the entire nail parlour."

Lunara blinked, then let out a laugh. "Oh? Is that allowed?"

He shrugged, the corner of his mouth twitching. "I don’t know, but if they give you a nice enough hand massage, who knows what you’ll decide."

Lunara laughed. "Just having this moment to relax is already enough."

Eryx leaned forward slightly, gently cupping her cheek. "Enjoy it. I’ll be right here."
