Chapter 161: Chapter 161: The Best Marriage Partner
Madam Tang’s question was met with a smile from Yang Yingjie, "Auntie, I know everything I should know, don’t forget my uncle is Yang Chao, and my former aunt is Wen Wenqing!"
He dragged Tang Wanqiu away without answering the question.
At the door, they ran into Tang Jianjun and Tang Jianbing, the two brothers who had just finished chatting with Father Tang, and saw Yang Yingjie pulling Tang Wanqiu away while they were still greeting them.
Tang Jianbing disagreed with Yang Yingjie’s behavior, "What’s a grown man doing, getting physical like that?"
Although he didn’t particularly like Tang Wanqiu, she had existed under the name of his sister for many years, and his protective instincts as a brother made him intolerant of Yang Yingjie treating a girl that way.
Yang Yingjie showed his teeth in a grin, his scholarly demeanor suddenly off, but he still pushed up his glasses, "Indeed, it was a lack of consideration on my part."
After he spoke, he let go, and Tang Wanqiu clumsily scrambled up from the ground, calling out "little brother" to Tang Jianbing.
Tang Jianbing frowned at her, "You’d better not call me little brother anymore, you’re not my real sister, and you’ve already gone back to having a real brother!"
Tears fell from Tang Wanqiu. Among her several brothers, Tang Jianbing was the one who took care of her the most. Although it paled in comparison to Tang Chuxia, it still counted as care.
She opened her mouth to say something, but then heard Yang Yingjie speaking to Tang Jianjun, "The Yang Family has absolutely no ill intentions toward the Tang Family! And I’m sure my uncle will be grateful for everything you’ve done for our family!"
Tang Jianjun scoffed, "Don’t bother, because of this sister of yours, my parents have lived a hard life for most of their years, and we almost lost the love of our grandparents. Please don’t appear again."
Yang Yingjie nodded in agreement, leaving behind a pile of gifts, and walked away.
Tang Chuxia chased out and called, "The money you borrowed, Tang Wanqiu, our father has repaid it for you, so please stop borrowing money in the Tang Family’s name in the future."
Tang Wanqiu was somewhat disheveled, even a bit embarrassed.
Yang Yingjie glanced at Tang Wanqiu and promised Tang Chuxia, "That will never happen again! The Yang Family couldn’t be so shameless!"
Tang Chuxia had a strange impression of this Yang Yingjie. She wouldn’t normally have a good impression of a Yang Family member. Yang Yingjie had even been somewhat rude just now, but she felt he bore no malice.
She stepped forward and asked, "Can I have a word with you?"
Tang Jianjun disapproved and wanted to stop her, Tang Jianbing also disagreed, but Tang Chuxia was insistent.
Yang Yingjie smiled, "Why not!"
He motioned for Tang Chuxia to lead the way, and the two walked off into the distance, making sure no one could overhear their conversation, their backs to everyone else.
"You’re not here to cause trouble for my parents, are you?"
Tang Chuxia was the first to speak, and Yang Yingjie looked at her approvingly.
"Have you discovered the other side of Tang Wanqiu?"
Yang Yingjie’s expression grew even more satisfied with Tang Chuxia.
"You came to remind us to be wary of your uncle, right?"
After Tang Chuxia finished her sentence, Yang Yingjie really changed his impression of her, having initially thought that a girl raised in such a pampered home environment would be clueless, but upon interaction, he found Tang Chuxia to be very sharp.
"You indeed are a rare understanding person!" Yang Yingjie didn’t answer her directly, but his words seemed to answer her nonetheless.
Tang Chuxia smiled, "Then, can Mr. Yang clarify why you also stress that I am the ’younger sister,’ not the ’older sister’?"
Yang Yingjie laughed out loud, "You can ask your mother about that; my answer might not be accurate."
Tang Chuxia waved her hand, "No, what you tell me is the most objective. Unless I’m mistaken, you know one of my great-uncles, don’t you?"
This time, the smile disappeared from Yang Yingjie’s face.
He stared at Tang Chuxia, and she subconsciously touched the back of her neck, a place that once had been pricked.
Her voice was sweet, "Mr. Yang wants to control the Yang Family completely and kick out Yang Chao’s interference. I think I might be able to offer some help, but you must tell me what I want to know!"
Yang Yingjie looked into Tang Chuxia’s eyes, and when their gazes met, there was indeed an invisible clash. Finally, Yang Yingjie took out a piece of paper from his upper pocket and handed it to her.
"If Miss Tang really wants to know the answer, come find me here! I will surely tell you everything!"
Yang Yingjie had already seen that the Tang brothers were about to reach their limits of patience. He extended his hand and offered it to Tang Chuxia, "Miss Tang is a very charming woman. If you’re considering a husband, could you give me a chance?"
Tang Chuxia shuddered.
Sometimes she really was crazy, but she had never thought of getting involved with the Yang Family.
She forced a smile and was about to decline when she saw Tang Jianjun running over and, lifting his foot, he kicked Yang Yingjie, who really couldn’t dodge, and took the blow head-on.
"Get lost, is my little sister someone you can touch?"
Yang Yingjie wasn’t angry, though; he dusted off the shoe print on his clothes and earnestly recommended himself to Tang Chuxia, "Miss Tang, please consider it. I am absolutely the best choice!"
Tang Chuxia was torn between laughter and tears, "Considering your relationship, do you think I am out of my mind to consider marrying you?"
Yang Yingjie sighed deeply, "Indeed, trash relatives are always a nuisance, but I’ll handle it!"
He left with a shocked Tang Wanqiu, while Tang Jianjun stared at Tang Chuxia.
Tang Chuxia felt guilty under her second brother’s gaze.
"I didn’t agree, and I’m just curious why he says I’m the little sister and not the older sister!"
Tang Jianjun snorted coldly, "You believe that kind of nonsense?" He thought Yang Yingjie was just trying to stir trouble.
Tang Jianbing didn’t know anything about the situation, "What are you guys even talking about?"
Tang Chuxia looped her arm through her little brother’s, "Nothing, let’s go check on mom quickly. She hasn’t gone to beat up dad in a fit of anger, has she?"
They weren’t worried about Father Tang getting beaten up; they were worried about Madam Tang damaging her health.
Sure enough, when they entered the house and didn’t find Madam Tang, they guessed she must have gone to Father Tang’s place. They rushed over and found Father Tang crouched on the ground with a resigned expression, listening to Madam Tang berating him.
Seeing Father Tang like that, none of the siblings stepped forward to interrupt.
In fact, they felt quite satisfied when they saw Madam Tang stabilize her emotions after scolding Father Tang.
"Second Brother, do you know why mom doesn’t divorce dad?"
Tang Chuxia asked curiously, and Tang Jianjun gave her a strange look.
"Why do you ask?"
The younger brother was equally baffled.
After all, who doesn’t hope for their parents to live in harmony?
Tang Chuxia waved her hand dismissively, "It’s nothing, just curious. It’s not like we can’t survive without dad!"
Tang Jianjun ruffled her hair, "That’s because there is no benefit and only disadvantages for them in getting divorced!"
Just then, Madam Tang saw them, understood their doubts, and left Father Tang to pull the kids back into the house.
But as soon as they got back inside, Madam Tang looked at them seriously and beckoned them to sit down.
"Xiaxia, you don’t have to ask Yang Yingjie. He’s not wrong about this; you’re the little sister, not the older sister!"
