Chapter 92: Going Home

(Arata)

"Thanks for everything again. Goodbye, I will see you on my return." I offered my sincere gratitude, observing his expressions.

Something shifted on his face, like a dark shadow as if he wanted to say a few words.

I halted in expectation, but then he decided against it and only grimly said.

"Goodbye, Arata." He didn’t seem pleased or maybe this was just how he usually was.

Olphi held the door for me while Caysir managed my luggage as I slipped out of his latest car.

On learning Karsten had already bought himself this car, Zaylen was going to be so jealous. With happy and naughty thoughts I made my way inside the airport with Caysir–he seemed extra vigilant. His sharp eyes judged everyone and ensured no one came into my proximity.

Soon we boarded the plane and settled in our seats in the first class. Caysir placed my hand carrier in the compartment above and settled on the seat behind me. I extracted my phone to text Zaylen, letting him know I had boarded the plane.

Flashing on my screen was a text from Karsten instead.

{Are you comfortable? There wasn’t any issue?} I smiled to myself and quickly typed back. A warm sensation was settling inside my stomach at how concerned he sounded.

{We have boarded and there is no issue. I will text you when we land.} Hitting send, I texted Zaylen too.

Soon I comfortably settled in my seat. Connecting my headphones, I put on some relaxing music and tried not to think about the poor bird that was left in my bag.

The plane became airborne soon, and everything became tiny on the ground. The journey was comfortable, and I even slipped into a nap for half an hour before the air hostess woke me up and offered me some juice and refreshments.

We landed safely and Caysir remained by my side. A sense of satisfaction rushed through me like a surge of electricity. Taking in a deep breath, I let my senses be invigorated by the smells of my land.

"Everything fine, Miss Arata?" Caysir inquired, watching me as I had halted.

I smiled. "Yes, yes. Just taking in the air, it’s good to be back home."

His mouth broadened with a smile which touched his eyes and warmed them further.

"I can understand, I hope you have a great time with your family." He wheeled my luggage and I followed. The place wasn’t crowded but several passengers were gathered around the luggage belt, looking for theirs.

As we exited the airport lobby, I found my younger brother waiting for me, leaning against a pillar. With black jeans and a red jumper which Grandma had knitted for him. His silky hair fell into his eyes just the way he liked to keep them.

He frantically waved and I did the same, my heart fluttering with so many emotions.

I was home, although it hadn’t been that long since I left, but I loved my city, family and friends.

"Sis." Zaylen had his strong arms around me as he had me in his brotherly embrace.

Peace and reassurance, I experienced in abundance as a permanent smile skidded down my lips.

"It’s good to be back." I tried not to choke on my emotions while separating from his arms.

"I have so much to tell you and have planned a lot of activities." He excitedly rubbed his hands together. His freckled cheeks perked up. I knew he missed me. Being the only two siblings, we had always been very close.

"Can’t wait."

"Where is your luggage?" He asked, his forehead slightly wrinkling in confusion, seeing me empty-handed.

"There," I pointed behind me where Caysir was standing with my luggage holding a tight smile of his own. "That’s Caysir, my boss’s assistant. He flew with me here."

Caysir stepped forward and offered his hand to Zaylen, which he zealously shook.

"And this is my younger brother, Zaylen." I made the introductions.

"Pleasure meeting you. Thank you for helping my sister with her luggage."

"Pleasure is all mine, Sir. Let me put it in the car before I leave," Caysir placed his hand on his head and offered. Zaylen led the way.

Soon, all my luggage was in Zaylen’s car, and Caysir turned to face me.

"I will be leaving on the next flight. If you need me for anything, reach out," he respectfully stated, almost bowing to me, but I sent him a glare, and he quickly stopped. He needed to stop doing that.

"Stay for a day, Caysir. You must be tired. Return tomorrow," I offered, feeling bad that he had to travel again. But he insisted on returning.

"Tomorrow is my sixth wedding anniversary. My wife would kill me if I missed it this time too."

He made a funny face, his tongue hanging out and eyes rolling as if someone was squeezing his neck.

I couldn’t hold back a giggle at his action. But the truth of how dangerous his job was, also weighed down on me. He risked his life to keep entitled people like me safe while he had a whole family. A wife, a daughter.

My heart felt burdened. I had a box of chocolates in my handbag—extracting it, I handed it to Caysir.

"This is for your wife, I hope she won’t murder you. No woman can resist chocolates." I winked and a priceless smile bloomed on his face.

"Thank you so much, Miss Arata. This means a lot."

"No, thank you for accompanying me."

Caysir left after shaking hands with Zaylen and thanking me again.

Soon, we were in Zaylen’s latest model, MJ. I knew he would be bragging about it, but I couldn’t wait until he heard what I had to say.

"So, does your boss send his assistants with all the female employees who need to travel alone or he made an exception for you?" Zaylen cheekily questioned, buckling himself in. I clicked my tongue and retorted.

"Your sister is exceptional, so maybe it was just for me." Zaylen heartily laughed at my answer.

"Charmed already. Ahm!"

Oh! My sweet little brother had no clue. The car started and we headed home.
