Chapter 36: New Blueprint

Rashin dashed to the side, spinning the dagger in his hand before stabbing the skeleton in the head.

Like broken bricks, the skeleton dropped to the ground, its bones scattering.

[Short Dagger has leveled up.]

Rashin took a deep breath, turning his gaze to the side, where he could see Daki fighting the other monsters.

’She’s holding up pretty well,’ Rashin thought to himself before turning his attention to the Skeleton King seated on the throne.

Since the battle had begun, the skeleton had not moved a muscle.

Which was strange, considering Rashin and his armor were completely dominating the battle.

[Time remaining: 0 hr: 23 mins: 7 secs]

’I should end this quickly before time runs out.’

[Lurker.]

Rashin’s entire body turned invisible.

With fast steps, he began running around the battlefield, killing as many skeletons as he could.

They were weak and didn’t put up much of a fight.

Hence, Rashin didn’t bother with them—he knew Daki could handle it.

The real threat was the Skeleton King himself.

’If I play my cards right, I should be able to kill it,’ he thought as he ran.

It didn’t take long for him to get close to the throne, his grip on the dagger tightening.

It came as a surprise that no one had sensed him since he used his Lurk skill. Just goes to show how far above them he was in power.

Or so he thought...

As he charged toward the Skeleton King, he noticed something—the monster, with its glowing red eyes, was pointing at him.

Surprised, Rashin wanted to halt when the attack came without warning.

From the tip of the skeleton’s finger, a small red magic circle appeared, no bigger than an eyeball.

Phew!

A red beam shot out of the magic circle, penetrating Rashin’s thigh.

He stepped back, wincing in pain as he glanced at the blood now leaking from his lap.

"Master!" Daki turned around, ready to race to his side.

"Stay put!" Rashin immediately yelled. "Don’t lose focus! Kill the skeletons!"

Daki was hesitant, yet she knew her master’s words were absolute.

She intended to kill them even faster than before, solely so she could join her master in battle.

’It can use magic. This will be a bit tricky.’

Knowing battle was imminent, the skeleton stood up from its throne, the hood covering its bony structure.

"Alright then..."

Rashin was just as ready.

"Come at me!"

The skeleton’s eyes glowed brightly as three magic circles appeared behind it.

Just like its first attack, it fired fast-moving beams at Rashin.

[Speed Blitz.]

Rashin dashed forward, slashing every beam with his blade as he moved.

The skeleton took a step back, now summoning a magic circle with a powerful beam big enough to blow Rashin up.

[Barrier.]

A barrier formed in front of Rashin, repelling the beam elsewhere as he dashed to the side, leaping into the air, ready to slash the skeleton’s neck.

"It’s over." Or so he thought.

His eyes widened in shock as another magic circle appeared beside him.

His barrier was still up from the first attack, which meant he couldn’t easily summon another—not this fast.

Boom!

The beam connected with Rashin.

He crashed to the ground but instantly forced himself back to his feet, blood dripping from the left side of his body.

’Shit! I miscalculated. It can summon this many magic circles?’

Rashin watched as over ten different magic circles sparked with energy before him.

[Time remaining: 0 hr: 15 mins: 12 secs.]

Time was running out. If the clock hit zero, not only would the battlefield close, but he would also receive nothing from the system for clearing the floor.

"Come... Wind Piercer."

[Wind Piercer.]

An arrow appeared in his grasp.

Standing steadily, he lifted it and aimed at the skeleton.

The skeleton retaliated by shooting its lasers at Rashin.

"Go."

He fired his arrow.

From a single arrow, it split into multiple fast-moving projectiles, filled with only mana.

Each one canceled out the Skeleton King’s attacks, finally overpowering them and raining down on the undead monarch.

The Skeleton King raised a barrier to protect itself from the falling arrows.

That was when Rashin took his chance.

He appeared right behind the skeleton.

Slash!

His dagger sliced through the skeleton’s neck in a matter of seconds. Though it was all bone, it still sliced like it was mare flesh.

The monster dropped to the ground, its body turning to ashes upon defeat.

Even the other skeletons under the Skeleton King’s rule began to drop like flies, one by one.

[You have defeated the Skeleton King.

Time left: 0 hr: 4 mins: 3 secs.]

Rashin took a deep breath.

’I did it.’ he said to himself

"Master! You’re simply incredible! Permitting me the blessing of seeing you in action must be my dying wish. Please, remove my eyes—I am not worthy!"

Daki slowly moved closer to Rashin, an obsessive smile on her face throughout her entire speech.

"Removing your eyes is a bit... excessive."

"What about one of my eyes?"

"No one is removing anyone’s eyes."

’Now then...’

Rashin looked at the system, the glowing golden light illuminating on his face.

[You have gained one random loot box.]

[You have gained 5 soul stones.]

[You have gained a new skill.]

[Magic Laser: This skill allows you to summon magic circles with laser projectiles]

[Short Dagger has leveled up.]

[Wind Piercer has leveled up.]

’Magic Laser? Like the one the Skeleton King just used? Does that mean I can gain the skills of monsters I kill too?’

He sighed. ’No point thinking about that now.’

Rashin reached for the system, pulling out the random loot box he had received.

Holding the red glowing box in his hand, Rashin gently tapped on its surface.

The box dispersed into magic particles, revealing a red, paper-like material with the drawing of a sword.

[Notice: You have gained a new blueprint.]

[Flame Sword.]

[Materials needed: 7 Magic Crystals, 9 Iron Ore, Flame Mana.]

’Well... that was unexpected.’
