My American magical life -
Chapter 31 - 31 31 The Red Seductive Thigh
31: Chapter 31: The Red Seductive Thigh 31: Chapter 31: The Red Seductive Thigh “Hmm, two ‘Explosion Sweetheart’ beef burgers, and two ‘Red Seduction’…
why are the names of your burgers so outrageous?”
He hadn’t noticed when he first heard the introduction, but the distinctiveness became immediately apparent when ordering.
The food offered by this truck was, by the look of the names, admittedly a bit abstract.
Cheng Daqi was truly curious about the owner’s thought process behind such unique names.
Attracted by the names, Sani too looked at Domo with a puzzled face, waiting for his explanation.
Domo adjusted his chef’s hat, which had slipped askew due to the grease on his forehead, and answered with a slight embarrassment.
“BBB Burgers hopes to bring our customers an unprecedented dining experience.”
He squeezed out an awkward smile on his round face, apparently finding the names of the food a bit awkward himself.
An unprecedented dining experience?
Do you mean the names of the food are all bizarre monikers no one would think of?
Cheng Daqi continued to inquire.
“What’s the deal with this ‘Explosion Sweetheart’?
I mean, what ingredients are in it?”
It was well known that America was a land full of possibilities.
Many people here value freedom and individuality and always manage to unexpectedly make a splash.
Cheng Daqi certainly didn’t want to ingest anything strange.
At Cheng Daqi’s question, Sani felt a bit embarrassed.
She felt the food truck she had picked seemed a bit unreliable.
Domo, however, didn’t hide anything and directly explained the ingredients of the ‘Explosion Sweetheart’ burger.
“Chili, cheese, beef patty, and some other toppings.
The chili gives you an explosive taste, and the cheese’s richness is like a sweetheart, warming your stomach.
That’s the ‘Explosion Sweetheart’ beef burger for you.”
Cheng Daqi pointed at another item on the menu, the ‘Red Seduction’ thigh burger, signaling Domo to continue his explanation.
The thigh, I hope it’s not something weird.
“Red okra, tomatoes, chicken leg meat, I hope this name can bring back beautiful memories for our customers,” Domo said frankly.
Cheng Daqi and Sani exchanged a glance, both seeing hesitation in each other’s eyes.
“We’ll have two of each of those burgers, plus two apple pies, two servings of fries, and two servings of chicken nuggets,” Cheng Daqi decisively placed the order.
He didn’t fuss too much, after all, they’d come this far.
Plus, the owner of the food truck seemed to be thoughtful.
Cheng Daqi liked dealing with interesting people.
“Thank you, thank you for your approval.
I suggest you swap the four complimentary pineapple pies for two apple pies and two pineapple pies, what do you think?”
Domo responded excitedly.
Cheng Daqi was the first real customer to stay and eat in the past two days.
All previous customers had been scared away by his odd menu names.
“That’s fine.”
Cheng Daqi looked down at his phone; there was a message for him from Eagle.
From Kernor: “Man, you’re a tough guy, I’m not wrong for not beating you, got a question to ask.”
This Black brother’s wording was simple, but the few lines were also filled with a robust hint of intellectual growth.
After a brief thought, confirming there wouldn’t be any issue, Cheng Daqi replied.
“Ask.”
From Kernor: “Are you the son of Li Xiaolong and Jackie Chan?”
Has the world gone mad or have I?
I know the world is a mess, but it hasn’t gone mad.
Cheng Daqi was even more certain that he wasn’t mad.
The identity of the patient was obvious.
From Cheng Daqi: “Get lost.
If I hear someone saying that I am the son of Li Xiaolong and Jackie Chan, I’ll butcher you.
Before I kill you, I’ll cut off your *** with a Hua Country knife and feed your *** to the dogs!”
From Kernor: “Is Li Xiaolong a woman?”
“Wikipedia, get lost!”
Kernor didn’t go crazy anymore, but Cheng Daqi sank into gloom.
He pondered why a Black brother, whom he had beaten, would think he was the son of Li Xiaolong and Jackie Chan when he had said nothing of the sort.
It was utterly absurd.
Domo’s words interrupted Cheng Daqi’s melancholic thoughts; the amiable yet uniquely-minded chubby man generously said.
“Alright, here are your burgers.
As the first customers of BBB Burger Shop, I’ll give you a 50% discount!”
Upon receiving the burgers, Sani felt it was truly a steal.
Not only were they one dollar each, but they were also half off that already low price.
The price of an American burger was never the publicly-known, western-worshipping propaganda claim of one dollar.
Looking at the categories of burgers in America, there were two types.
One was the cheap fast-food restaurant burger, made with poor ingredients and priced relatively low, but even the cheapest and worst would cost around three dollars.
The other was the more luxurious burger, with better ingredients, which could sell for ten or even dozens of dollars.
Although Domo’s BBB Burger Shop was just a food truck, the burgers he sold belonged to the kind with fairly good ingredients.
One dollar each was already a promotional price for the shop’s opening and was extremely cost-effective.
This pricing was meant to attract customers and build brand recognition, and it wouldn’t last too long.
Sani felt a thrill of getting a huge bargain and she said to Cheng Daqi with a smile,
“See, the place Sani Mama picked isn’t bad, right?”
Cheng Daqi affirmed with a smile.
He was genuinely curious about the taste of Domo’s burgers, experiencing the famed American hamburgers for the first time in what felt like two lifetimes.
Picking up the ‘Exploding Sweetheart Beef Burger,’ Cheng Daqi didn’t notice anything special.
Adding hot peppers to a burger might seem crazy, but a lot of people did it, and it tasted pretty good.
The light-yellow hot cheese was rich in flavor and upon biting into it, fine strands of cheese pulled away, wrapping around a huge amount of calories and providing a great sense of satisfaction.
The beef patty was significantly chunkier than those in cheap burgers and tasted delicious.
However, all these elements combined didn’t bring any surprise to Cheng Daqi.
The creamy cheese, the savory beef, the sting of the hot peppers—each was perfect on its own and fine together as well.
But there were too many perfectly fine burgers; Cheng Daqi had had his fill of them in his past life.
Seemingly noticing Cheng Daqi’s disappointment, Domo asked anxiously,
“Hello, is there something wrong with the taste?
I assure you, the ingredients I used were freshly prepared today, with no issues!”
The kind-hearted chubby man showed a nervous expression for the first time; he didn’t want anything to go wrong with his first order.
That wouldn’t be a good sign!
“No, Domo, the burger is really good, but I just don’t feel surprised by it,” Cheng Daqi explained.
He genuinely thought Domo’s signature burgers were quite nice.
“No surprise?”
Domo murmured the phrase, the disappointment evident in his voice.
Not expecting his casual comment to hit the generous chef so hard, Cheng Daqi quickly added,
“Haha, Domo, your burger is already very tasty.
Don’t mind my comment.”
“You can ask this lady beside me; ask her what she thinks.”
Sani swallowed a big bite of her food and praised lavishly without stinginess,
“Domo, this is the most delicious burger I’ve ever eaten, way better than those fast-food restaurant burgers.
Don’t listen to his nonsense, he’s just a weirdo.”
After speaking, the kind-hearted woman even glared at Cheng Daqi.
Sani just felt her neighbor was too meddlesome.
Being able to eat a burger more delicious than those at Golden Arches or Old Man’s for such a low price, what more could you ask for.
“Haha, alright, thank you for your praise, beautiful lady,”
Domo forced a smile and began tidying up the kitchen counter with concern.
He was a chubby man with ambitions.
Cheng Daqi’s words had evoked his greatest worry.
His burgers were very good, but there were too many very good burgers out there.
And since burger recipes were so simple, it was incredibly hard to create something distinctive.
He had already perfected the taste with the ingredients available; there was no room for further optimization, so he had to focus on the name instead.
Domo had given his burgers those quirky names just to make them stand out.
But now it seemed that because the names were too strange, he had missed out on dozens of potential customers in two days.
This showed that trying to make burgers distinctive through names alone was a dead-end strategy.
The more Domo thought about it, the more powerless he felt.
He remembered the grand ambitions he had when he bought the food truck and established his brand.
The gap between the ideal and the reality was simply enormous.
The chubby chef fell silent, gazing at the street outside the food truck, with the thought of giving up arising in his mind.
Entrepreneurship was too hard, perhaps he should just go home and take over the family business.
