My Aloof Husband Can't Stop His Devoted Affection -
Chapter 17 - 017: Go up
Chapter 17: 017: Go up
More than ten minutes later, a black Audi stopped by the roadside of the studio. Jiang Baizhou, wearing a white T-shirt and black casual pants, stepped out of the car with a transparent umbrella. His white sneakers splashed small droplets of water as they landed in the rain.
The rain grew heavier. When Jiang Baizhou entered the studio, he saw Cen Jin leaning on the desk, with a blue cup beside her, typing on her phone with one hand. She seemed to be chatting with someone and did not notice his arrival at all.
Jiang Baizhou placed the umbrella on the steps at the door to dry and quietly approached Cen Jin from behind. He glanced at her phone screen and let out a couple of light coughs. "Cough, cough..."
Cen Jin immediately turned her head upon hearing the sound. Seeing him standing behind her, she widened her eyes in surprise, somewhat incredulously. "When did you get here? I didn’t hear any movement at all."
"For a while now." Jiang Baizhou frowned slightly, replying indifferently, "Aren’t you planning to leave?"
Cen Jin laughed awkwardly, got up from the chair, and playfully raised her eyebrows. "Let’s go, I’m going to get my bag, wait for a bit."
Jiang Baizhou stood there, watching her walk towards her work area. She took her bag from a shelf and returned to him, only turning towards the door when she was just a step or two away from him.
After Cen Jin turned off the lights and closed the door of the studio, she turned around to meet Jiang Baizhou’s indifferent eyes. He stood sideways, holding the umbrella with one hand, but half of his body was exposed to the rain, clearly waiting for her to get under the umbrella.
"Come over."
Upon hearing this, Cen Jin placed her keys in her bag and stepped into the shelter of the umbrella, maintaining some distance between them. Jiang Baizhou glanced at the space between them but said nothing, and with a composed expression, he strode into the rain. He tilted the umbrella more towards her, and the exposed half of his body was instantly soaked by the rain.
Accidentally, Cen Jin noticed that his shoulder was completely wet from the rain. She looked up at the position of the umbrella, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes. She moved a few steps closer, her shoulder brushing against his arm, closing the distance between them and allowing the umbrella to tilt back towards him.
Jiang Baizhou looked straight ahead, subtly raising the corners of his mouth. He walked to the passenger side of his car, opened the door, and gestured with his eyes, "Get in."
Cen Jin turned to look at him. Seeing his wet clothes, she pursed her red lips and bent down to get into the car. Her eyes followed him as he closed the car door, walked around the front of the car, and got into the driver’s seat before she couldn’t help but say, "How about we go to your office next time instead? Let’s go change clothes first. Your clothes are like this... you could easily catch a cold."
Jiang Baizhou tossed the umbrella under the back seat, glanced at his shoulder. "There’s a change in the back; I’ll change it in a bit."
Hearing this, Cen Jin turned to look at the back seat and indeed saw a white paper bag there. She was a bit surprised. "Did you just buy that?"
"Picked it up from the dry cleaners," Jiang Baizhou replied nonchalantly. He started the car, checked both side mirrors, and turned the car around.
After that, Cen Jin didn’t say anything more. She shifted her gaze from him to the window. Countless raindrops fell on the window, casting a thin veil over her lively eyes, making her vision obscure.
The office was a plan he had since last year, but he hadn’t found a suitable location. Later, he was invited by his teacher, Professor Zhang, to serve as a teaching consultant at Lin University in Minhe City, causing further delay.
It was only about a ten-minute drive from Cen Jin’s wedding dress design studio, located on the same road. So, soon, the car was parked in front of a two-story duplex house.
