Chapter 375: 375 jumps and jumps
"Hey, you don’t actually want to watch me perform a ritual dance, do you?" Han Yan couldn’t help but say. Hopping around like this, what else could it be if not a ritual dance? And it even had a sense of rhythm...
"Don’t speak, turn right, then leap forward with all your strength." A row of small characters appeared on the Star Plate again.
"What!" Han Yan was shocked.
At that moment, she was exactly at the intersection of several rows of stone shelves. Looking forward, all she could see were the hard bluestones, particularly the ones with the sharpest edges. To leap out like this, and with maximum force, would be a minor issue if she ended up with a bloody head; a careless move could cost her life.
It’s just some genius Earth Treasures, isn’t it? Even if I don’t find them, there’s no need to seek death, right?
The Young Master of the Mu Family, committing suicide in a fit of anger after finding nothing in the family’s Treasure Vault—such a rumor, if it were to spread, would be the end of her. Oh wait, if she bashed her head in, she wouldn’t be alive to worry about it.
"Hurry up and jump, or you’ll have to start over." As Han Yan was daydreaming, the Star Illusion Thousand Machine urged her again, impatiently.
"Alright, I guess it doesn’t really want to see me commit suicide. If it wants me to jump, I’ll jump." Han Yan knew the Star Illusion Thousand Machine wouldn’t joke about her life. Bracing herself and gritting her teeth, she leaped.
The whoosh of air passed by her ears, with the sharp edges of the stone shelves looming before her, magnifying rapidly. Han Yan instinctively concentrated her Qi on her forehead. With this, she thought, even if she hit her head, she probably wouldn’t die, but a bloody head seemed inevitable.
Just as she was about to crash into it, something astonishing happened to Han Yan.
In an instant, everything before her became illusory and twisted, like a mirage.
The anticipated scene of an egg smashing against a rock didn’t happen. Han Yan felt a lightness in her body, and she was completely suspended in the air.
Around her, the mausoleum-like hall still existed, rows of bluestone shelves neatly arranged, but Han Yan floated weightlessly among them, feeling as if she were in another world, where everything before her was an illusion.
"What’s going on?" The light also dimmed considerably, and Han Yan felt a chilling breeze at her feet, unsettling her greatly.
Having been a person in two lifetimes, and even once having reached the Sword Saint Realm, Han Yan had never encountered such a bizarre situation before.
"To think that I, who have roamed freely over Anyun, would meet my end at the hands of such insignificant foes today. Even in death, you shall not leave alive!" Suddenly, a resentful roar full of defiance resounded in her ears.
A shadowy figure appeared, wielding a longsword, attacking Han Yan furiously.
Instinctively, Han Yan parried with her sword. With a "clang," the sharp ring forced her to stagger back two steps, her arm going numb.
What a formidable strength! Han Yan was startled.
It was only then that she got a clear look at her assailant. The man was around twenty-five years old, with sword-like eyebrows and heroic features, a tall figure, and a cold face filled with anger and unwillingness; his eyes blazed with fury, yet they seemed somewhat vacant and spiritless.
Could he be a family guard? Han Yan quickly searched her memory, yet no impression came to mind. Perhaps, then, he was a Death Soldier secretly trained by the family? She guessed.
Many families with ancient inheritances secretly train Death Soldiers, individuals of secret identities who hardly ever appear in public. Other than the Family Head and elders of high status, no one would know of their existence. Typically, they would only emerge at critical moments when the survival of the family was at stake.
Han Yan didn’t know if the Mu Family had such Death Soldiers, but that seemed to be the only explanation.
"Don’t misunderstand, the Great Elder sent me here," Han Yan hurriedly tried to explain.
"Kill, kill, kill!" The figure paid no heed to her words and attacked her again, recklessly.
