Chapter 34: 34 This joke is not funny
Of course, Zirong was aware that this creature, whose gender he couldn’t tell if it was a pink piglet brother or sister, wouldn’t be so simple since it had been secretly kept in this hidden place by the Zhou Family. So, his words carried a hint of teasing.
"That’s the one. Remember, the spot between the third and fourth vertebrae at the back of its neck—that’s its vital point. It may undergo some changes later, but its position won’t change. Once you’ve got it, hide at the entrance of the secret passage and be ready. When I lure it out, strike immediately. And remember, you only have one chance to strike. There won’t be a second," Mu Hanyan said with a serious face, ignoring the joking tone. Zirong would soon see that his joke was far from funny.
"Why not strike now?" Seeing Mu Hanyan’s seriousness, Zirong stopped making jokes and asked seriously.
"What nonsense, don’t you see it’s lying down? Give it a try and see if you can find the exact spot," Mu Hanyan replied irritatedly.
"Oh, should I use a sword or a brick?" Zirong asked again.
"Use a sword, with your strongest attack," Mu Hanyan instructed.
"Could I kill it with one thrust?" Zirong, uncertain whether Mu Hanyan had a craving for roast suckling pig or another plan in mind, pressed further.
"If you manage to kill it with a thrust, you’ll have shown real skill," Mu Hanyan muttered, then urged, "Go get ready quickly, or we won’t have a chance once it wakes up."
Seeing Mu Hanyan rushing him, Zirong didn’t waste any more time with futile questions. He quickly retreated, hid near the entrance of the secret passage, and drew his longsword, preparing himself for the battle.
Just as he finished preparations, he heard a low, muffled roar from within the passage. The sound wasn’t loud, and it came from the depths of the passage, so it wasn’t deafening. However, it was filled with a wildly ferocious aura.
Was this sound really made by that little pink pig? Zirong had his doubts.
He soon got his answer.
Around the corner of the passage, Mu Hanyan suddenly sprang into view, sprinting towards the exit in complete disarray, her hair and clothes in wild disarray. Close behind her was a gigantic white pig, nearly ten feet long and over half the height of a person, which probably weighed close to a thousand pounds, in hot pursuit.
While chasing, the beast snorted sharply, and with each snort, a semi-transparent Wind Blade spun out from its nostrils.
Stone chips flew off the walls of the passage, carved into deep ravines two inches deep by the Wind Blades.
Exotic Beasts!
Zirong’s scalp tingled, and his body hair stood on end.
In the natural world, there are various birds and beasts. Some are tame and gentle, like cows, sheep, chickens, and rabbits, while others are fierce and brutal, like tigers, wolves, eagles, and vultures.
But then, there is another kind, entirely different from these—Exotic Beasts. These creatures have undergone evolutionary anomalies in nature and acquired supernatural abilities. Some specialize in offense, others in defense, and yet others in healing. They are incredibly diverse and remarkably bizarre.
Although tigers, wolves, eagles, and vultures might be considered the rulers of the natural world, atop the food chain, they stand no chance against powerfully offensive Exotic Beasts. Even apparently harmless creatures, like a docile rabbit, would be utterly defenseless against them.
Of course, such Exotic Beasts are incredibly rare, and most people may never encounter one in their lifetime. But right now, Zirong was seeing one right before his eyes.
This was clearly a Mutant Pig that had mastered the Wind Blade superpower. It was hard to imagine that such a simple and stupid-looking pig could undergo such a mutation. He had heard of Wind Wolves, Wind Foxes, and Wind Eagles before, but since when had there been such a thing as a Wind Pig?
As incredulous as it may seem, the attack power of this giant Mutant Wind Pig was definitely no less than that of the Wind Wolves and Wind Foxes mentioned in the rumors.
