Mrs. and Mr. Smith -
Chapter 2234
Chapter 2234: Chapter 2232: Teaming Up Again Chapter 2234: Chapter 2232: Teaming Up Again “I once obtained an ancient text in a secret technique space from ten thousand years ago. The Satan skill specializes in cultivating divine souls, but for the past nearly one hundred thousand years, cultivators within the Underworld have rarely even heard of it. Do you know why?”
The man with the mustache had a solemn expression as he continued,
“It means there are severe restrictions on Satan skills. You need to resolve this quickly; otherwise, one day you'll ultimately be replaced by another divine sense. When that happens, you might completely disappear.”
Ethan Smith's face darkened slightly. He had already known that the Satan skill had flaws, but he hadn't realized they would be this severe.
*What's more, another divine sense had suddenly appeared, forcibly trying to wrest control of his body. Such a situation was unprecedented.*
“This issue lies in your soul. If there's a soul cultivator with considerable strength and cultivation, you could consult them to see if there's a suppression method. But as for this skill technique, you absolutely must stop using it.”
Elder Baker said gravely.
“Yeah, big brother, don't scare me like that! Just now, I almost wet my pants.”
“Given the current circumstances, we'll just have to take it one step at a time.”
Ethan Smith felt incredibly troubled. However, when his father had left him the Soul Nightmare Heart Skill, he hadn't warned him against cultivating it. This implied that there must be some loophole in the skill–a way to avoid the ultimate fate of being completely overtaken by a divine soul.
Purgatory, Central Square.
The area was still packed with people, a noisy cacophony of yelling and commotion filling the air.
Various magical artifacts were being exchanged, alongside pills, demon pills, and other items for sale.
Although groups of rogue cultivators remained wary of one another, traveling alone was far too risky. Hence, many chose to form teams before heading out.
At this moment, a stall displayed a sign written in elegant characters: Action in the Seventh Layer of Purgatory.
Ethan Smith furrowed his brows but stepped forward to take a look.
Hmm?
As Ethan Smith approached, he sensed a barrier in front of him–it prevented him from going any further.
“This seems like a formation. Is this stall owner trying to test people?”
A cultivator asked curiously.
“Hah, a measly formation! Watch me break it!”
A burly cultivator swung a powerful punch directly at the formation.
With a thunderous bang, his body was launched backward by a massive counterforce.
“Damn it! If I could use spiritual power, I'd kick this lousy formation apart in seconds!”
The cultivator cursed angrily.
“Hey kid, sometimes muscles aren't the solution to everything. You need to use your brain. This is clearly a test of divine soul power. Watch me break it with ease!”
A youth waving a feathered fan sneered.
He approached the formation, sensing its operation, then smirked and said,
“Just a small soul-bewildering formation. The Gate of Life is the way in; the formation is broken!”
With a swift gesture, he pointed into the air toward the Gate of Life.
Whoosh!
The formation suddenly lit up, its gate shifting in an instant. Life and death intermingled violently, and the cultivator's finger was instantly shredded.
“Looks like your brain isn't as sharp as you thought.”
The burly man laughed heartily.
“Is this stall owner just messing with people? This seems a bit disrespectful.” Another cultivator frowned, expressing doubt.
“This could be the work of a Formation Master.”
A group of onlookers started to discuss loudly.
Ethan Smith stepped forward, placing one hand firmly on the restriction at the edge of the formation.
“Hey kid, is this how you break formations? Be careful, or your arm might get shredded.”
“Here comes another reckless fool.”
Ignoring the warnings, Ethan Smith walked directly into the formation, which began spinning violently.
“Holy hell, is this guy insane?”
“Does he think he can use spiritual power here? He's asking to die!”
…
A tremendous tearing force pulled at Ethan Smith's body, but it wasn't even enough to leave a scratch on him.
“He just walked in like that?”
“Did the formation fail?”
“I get it now! My earlier attack must've weakened the formation to the brink of breaking. That punk stuck around and took advantage of it!” The burly man shouted as he raised his hand.
The surrounding cultivators ignored him completely.
…
Beyond the formation stood a cute young girl in white robes, her twin ponytails bouncing. She sat cross-legged, picking at her toes–a stark contrast to her appearance.
“Huh? How'd you get in here? No manners at all.”
The moment she saw someone entering, the girl scrambled to her feet, her face flushing red with embarrassment.
“I walked in. Didn't see anything.”
Ethan Smith replied earnestly.
“Are you here to hunt Demonic Beasts in the Seventh Layer of Purgatory? Just you alone?”
Ethan Smith asked. The girl's strong divine soul suggested she might be a soul cultivator, similar to Mariam Mitchell from Christ Cohen's squad.
If he could team up with a powerful soul cultivator, his pressure in the seventh layer would lessen considerably.
“That's right, just me. Since you got through the formation, your physical cultivation must be decent. But I still need to test you further.”
The girl snapped fiercely.
“What's your name?”
Ethan Smith stifled his laughter, finding the girl amusing.
“Rosie Lowe.”
“Water Mirror Space.”
Before Ethan Smith, ripples appeared, and several reflections of Rosie Lowe materialized around him.
She gripped a reverse-holding dagger, its blade glinting with a chilling, menacing light.
In an instant, one of the daggers silently approached Ethan Smith's throat.
“Nice movement technique.”
Ethan Smith chuckled lightly.
“Hey, why aren't you dodging? You're so weird.”
Rosie Lowe asked curiously.
“Within Lorncloud City, you can't break through my defenses.” Ethan Smith shook his head.
“Then let's test that theory!”
Rosie Lowe's voice suddenly grew cold.
Though she hadn't used spiritual power, her speed was astonishingly fast.
In the blink of an eye, the dagger attacked Ethan Smith dozens of times.
“Such a resilient physical cultivator, huh? Fine, you've earned my approval.” Rosie Lowe exclaimed in amazement.
“In the Seventh Layer of Purgatory, I need to kill a Demonic King Six-Tailed Demon Fox. I want all the Demon Fox inner cores related to it; you can have the rest.”
“What if we don't manage to hunt the Six-Tailed Demon Fox?”
Ethan Smith asked, furrowing his brow.
“Don't worry; I'm not the type to go back on my word. Only the Demon Fox's inner cores have significant use for our cultivation. Everything else is trivial.”
Rosie Lowe patted her small chest confidently.
“What if you ambush me later? My body might be strong, but it's hard to defend against surprise attacks with a blade.”
Ethan Smith suppressed a chuckle, thinking the girl seemed like a scatterbrain who hadn't even asked what he intended to collect.
If he mentioned the Bone Refining Water, he wondered how she'd react.
“That won't happen. We'll swear by the Path of Heaven, binding our souls with the restriction. If either of us violates the oath, we won't be able to comprehend the Heavenly Dao Laws. Plus, my sister and I will be there in the seventh layer. As long as you're cautious, the risks are minimal. My sister is really strong, you know.”
The girl spoke boldly and casually.
“Alright, we'll do as you say. Let's swear the oath then!”
Ethan Smith nodded. To him, Rosie Lowe felt far more agreeable than the people he'd dealt with before.
